How do you sort photos to id duplicates to delete

I made the mistake in pulling the same photos into different albums and duplicating them  now I have alot mor epics then I want   Is there an easy way to sort the pics so the same ones end up side by side so I can delete to just have one?

You don't duplicate photos when you drag them into an album.  Those are just pointers to the original file.  You can have a photo in multiple albums, books, slideshows and still have only one image file in the library.
If you delete a photo from an album it's deleted only from that album.  If you delete a photo from an Event it's deleted from every occurance in the library as well as the library.

How do you sort photos by face/name on iPad2?

iPhoto is designed to work with photos from cameras, and so seeks the date in the Exif metadata that the camera writes to the file.
There is no way to organise photos by the date they were imported to iPhoto.

Have you made the request - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback?

I am sorry that I ran afoul of the user guidelines, I'll remove the rant if I can.  I certainly did not intend my  gripe to target the helpful responder.  And yes, I did provide the feedback to Apple.  I'm just used to such feedback going into a "black hole".  Which this almost certainly does because this problem has existed for years (I Googled for an answer first.)  However, it should be noted that company's tend to respond to feedback that is very public if they want to keep a good name in the business.  The private feedback through the program is like a quiet whisper, only the two parties involved know about it, so there is no real incentive for prompt action.

  • How do you sort Pics in Smart Folder? Photos App

How do you sort pics in a smart folder in the Photos App? Date, Name, etc.

Yes, when I do that it sorts the albums in the folder by name.
I may have misused terminology, I meant Smart Albums not smart folders, if this makes a difference.
    Thanks for your help!

  • How can I sort photos by file name in Photos?

New Photos seems to be very limiting, even compared to iPhoto.  How can I sort photos by filename?  Many photos that worked in iPhoto, can't be viewed in Photos.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Titles don't use the filename any longer, but if you must have them you might be interested in Léonie's script here.

  • How can I sort photos within an event? When I follow the Help instructions, I can sort manually in Photo format, but when I return to Event format, the original order is restored.

How can I sort photos within an event? When I follow the Help instructions, I can sort manually in Photo format, but when I return to Event format, the original order is restored.

Events are organisation for those who can't really be bothered. They are automatic - based entirely on Date and Time the camera records the photos as taken.
You can move photos between Events, you can Merge Events, you can Rename them and sort them in various ways except one: You cannot manually sort in an Event as Events are all automated.
If you want to manually sort in an Event then you've outgrown Events as an organising tool. Now it's time to look at albums (Where you can manually sort) which are much more flexible than Events as an organising tool.

  • How do you save photos from import or Photo Stream to an album?

How do you save photos from import or photo stream to an album?  I have a MacBook Air (which keeps telling me my start-up disk is full) and I am trying to organize photos so there aren't duplicates and triples.  I have photos in events, last import, photos and albums....I feel like they are all taking up space.  If I move a photo from photo stream to an album, then delete the photo from photo steam its deleted from the album.  That doesn't make sense to me.  There should be a way to clean up photo stream, and events, and last import by putting photos into albums.  Even more bizarre; I imported photos from my 4S, and only a fraction of them transferred over.
I am completely lost.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!
    sarah

and I am trying to organize photos so there aren't duplicates and triples.  I have photos in events, last import, photos and albums....I feel like they are all taking up space.
    Sarah,
Only the photos you are seeing in the events and the Photo Stream will take up space. iPhoto stores each photo only one. After you import it, it will be assigned to one event.
Then you can use it in many albums and projects. Using the photo this way will only reference the one single copy of the photo in the event. The albums don't store the photos and do not require additional space. If you delete a photo from an event, it will be removed from all albums that have been using the this photos.
What you are seing are not actually duplicate photos but different ways to access the same photos.
The "Last event" is the same event as the last one you imported. It is there for a quick access to your recently imported photos.  Photos is a quick access to all photos in your library as an endless stream of photos. These are also no duplicates.
So if you want to save space and delete photos, do that by browsing your events. Deleting a photo from an event will delete the original image file and remove the photo from all albums, books, and other products. You have only duplicate photos, if you are seing the same photo twice in an event.
Even more bizarre; I imported photos from my 4S, and only a fraction of them transferred over.
That is a different problem, but it may be related to to fact that you need to free space.
If you get a warning, that the system needs space, don't do anything but update the backup of your mac and move files to an external disk to free space.
It is not save to keep working, when the system is running out of space.
How much free space do you have? Anything below 15GB free space is really critical.

  • How do you rearrange photos in a folder by file name?

How do you rearrange photos in a folder by file name on an ipad?

I don't believe it's possible under the standard "Photos" app (built-in) in iOS.
However, there appear to be many downloadable apps that will allow you to do this. Search the App Store for something like "photo sort".
You may also want to leave Apple your feedback in regards to this at:

  • IPhoto:  How can I sort photos within an event?  I can't figure out how to activate the Manual Sort.

iPhoto:  How can I sort photos within an event.  I can't figure out how to activate the Manual Sort button.

Only albums can be sorted manually. Events can only be sorted automatically according to one of the predefined settings "Date, Keywords, Title, Rating".
If you need a manual sort order, selectaall photos in the event and create an album: File > New Album

  • How do I sort photos WITHIN folder view?

Okay, I'll admit, to me, Adobe has always been defined as "too many features and too confusing to me," but I'll give it a shot.
I looked through help, etc. and I have a seemingly simple question - how do I sort photos, new to old, WITHIN folder view of the browser? I don't WANT to show ALL my photos, just folder by folder, oldest to new, NOT by filename!
This is a simple right-click context menu in Paint Shop Pro, has been for many versions. Why can't I find how/where to do this in Photoshop Elements? It's the kind of thing that makes simpletons like me keep running away from complex Adobe products.
Help me, SOMEONE, through this seemingly simple task and... I'll be most appreciative.

    >how do I sort photos, new to old, WITHIN folder view of the browser? I don't WANT to show ALL my photos, just folder by folder, oldest to new, NOT by filename!
Well since folders are not the primary method of using the Photo Browser in Elements, I don't think that folder view has everything that you want.
If you want to look at a single folder in this sequence you could use the Instant Tag function to apply the tag to all photos in that folder, then use a Tag search by clicking on the box to the left of the tag that is the folder name and then choose oldest first while displaying just the photo files from that folder. This may sound long, but it takes lees time to do than it takes to type a description.

  • How do you sort the safari  "Bookmarks Bar" bookmarks

how do you sort the safari  "Bookmarks Bar" bookmarks

Here is the workaround for sorting your bookmarks - you don't have to do it manually as suggested in the previous answer here. This is from a 2006 page at Hints.Macworld.com
"One thing that bugs me is that there is no option in Safari to alphabetize bookmarks. I had a crazy idea about how to accomplish this, and it seems to work. Hopefully I'm not missing something more obvious.
What I did was open the Bookmarks window (Bookmarks: Show All Bookmarks), put the links I wanted to alphabetize into a folder, and then dragged that folder into the Finder. The Finder alphabetizes the bookmarks; you can then just drag the folder back into the Bookmarks window. You probably have to set the Finder to arrange files by name before it will work. Hope this helps!
[robg adds: When you drag the folder back, you'll now have two folders, the original and the sorted one. Just delete the original, and you're set. You can also do this without first creating a Safari folder. Just select all the bookmarks to be alphabetized, drag them into a new folder in the Finder, open that folder (make sure it's set to sort by name or use column view), then drag the now-sorted bookmarks back into Safari's Bookmarks window. Again, you'll have duplicates, so just delete the originals (which will be grouped above the newly-placed list). I wonder if any of this is scriptable...]"
If you're like me and you like to keep all of your bookmarks in folders in the Bookmarks bar, then from the Bookmarks window you would open the Bookmarks Bar in a window of its own before doing the above.

  • How do you transfer photos from laptop to ipad air?

How do you transfer photos from your laptop to ones ipad air?

You transfer photos during a sync with iTunes.
First organize your photos. If you're using a Mac use iPhoto to create photo albums. If you're using a PC organize your photos by creating a main photos folder. Inside of that folder creat folders and sort photos into topics or dates. Do not create any additional folders inside the first nested folder.
Then start iTunes on your computer. If you don't have iTunes on your computer download it form Apple it's free. If you already have iTunes make sure it is iTunes 11.1 or later. If it is an earlier version of iTunes update it.
Start iTunes on your computer and connect your iPad. Select your iPad in iTunes. Then select Photos from the row of tabs that are presented.
You can choose to sync photos from iPhoto or navigate to your main photo folder. Then select to sync all photos or select just the albums you want on your device.
Finally click apply or sync at the bottom of the iTunes screen on your computer.

  • How can you transfer photos from one phone to another

How can you transfer photos from phone to phone

If you are trying to get all the photos from an old phone to your new phone, you could sync the old phone which would create a backup containing your Camera Roll. Then connect the new phone and follow the prompts to register and name your new phone. You will then be given the choice of restoring data to your new phone from a backup of the old phone. This will replace any existing data on the new phone with the data from the backup so it's really the best option if the other phone is new.
Another option would be to connect the phone to your computer and import your photos to iPhoto or the My Pictures folder. Then you could sync the other phone and under the Photos tab in iTunes you could choose the folders/albums of pictures you want on the phone. They will not be in the Camera Roll, but they will be on the phone.
    I hope this helps.

  • How do you burn photos to CDR from Iphoto. 9.5.1

How do you burn photos in Iphoto 9.
You used to do it from Share and now I can't find the instruction.

That feature has been discontinued.  One can no longer burn a "mini" library from iPhoto to disk.
To burn photos to disk with iPhoto 9 and later the photos must be exported to a folder on the Desktop and that folder burned to disk via the Finder.
