How do you startup macpro book when you wipe it clean

how do start up a mac pro book when you wipe it clean

As you indicate you have 10.6, you will need to boot from the install DVD that came with your Mac. With the DVD in the Mac, hold down the C key on restart.
However, if your Mac is one of the ones listed here, and you updated the firmware as mentioned in the article, Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery
Restart and hold down cmd-opt-r when you hear startup tone.
That will boot into Internet Recovery.  OS X: About OS X Recovery

  • How do you do a  Clean install lion

How do you do a clean install of lion? My iMac is 8 yr old and has gotten sluggish. At one point it was suggested that I might want to do a clean install but no one ever told me how to do that since we don't have a disk!

Assuming you already have Lion installed, boot into Recovery Mode (Command-R). From there you can reinstall Lion. Note, however, that a clean install means you first erase the drive you want to do the clean install on, and unless you have a complete backup of everything that's currently on it, you'll lose it all; the clean install will leave you with a fresh operating system but nothing else. To get it all back, make that external clone, then when the clean install is finished on the internal, Setup Assitant will run and you can point it at the external clone to get all your stuff back.

  • How do you wipe the info from your old iPhone

How do you wipe the info off of your old iPhone ?

Before you erase your phone, you need to first delete the iCloud account, sign out of FaceTime & iMessage. If you don't, this phone will still be linked to your Apple ID. Once you do that: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings.
But, delete iCloud & turn the other stuff off first...important you do this.

  • How do you wipe all personal info on a macbook but keep the applications on it?

So I am selling my early 2011 MacBook Pro and have been having a lot of trouble getting people to buy it at my asking price... So I was thinking of ways I can get it at the price I wanted and thought to use the software on the computer as a selling point.  Well it worked and I have all of adobe CS5 on it along with Microsoft Office for mac and windows 7 as a partiition.  Well I got a buyer who is interested primarily because of the software and I want to sell it but just keep the applications on it.  What can I do to protect myself by getting rid of any personal information?  Do I just go to my key chain and wipe it clean and wipe all my documents?  The licensing for the applications won't be an issue for me so I don't care about that.  I just want anything that was personally mine gone.

What do you mean a 10.7 TimeMachine to a 10.6 system?
Well your migrating from something correct? A backup like TimeMachine is now all 10.7, so you can't use that to migrate backwards to 10.6 machine.
I wouldn't mind reinstalling Lion for the guy because mountain lion is comming out next month..  He would upgrade to that with his own apple ID....  Meaning it would no longer be tied to me/use one of my registrations for Lion correct??
Correct, if he upgrades to 10.8, Apple's records will show that it was him that upgraded the machine to 10.8, thus if the Feds ask Apple, that's the information they will tell them, so all ties to you will be severed.
However the Feds are not stupid and won't just rely upon one piece of information, but if files are created in your name with your personal information (like if you kept the programs on there) then they  could be coming around asking questions as there is more evidence.
I know you keep saying to give the discs but I'm pretty sure they are boot legged.
Well then you certainly don't want to include those as you don't know who you are selling too, it could be the Feds and you'll go to jail for software theft, sued etc., over a few lousy hundred dollars.
You'd gladly pay $1000 to get out of jail that first night when Bubba is looking at you with love in his eyes.
As for miscrosoft office, I have the file that allowed me to download it (it was a volume licensed one I guess?) so there was no need for a serial number.
Are you sure? Microsoft funds some sort of anti-piracy organization that inspects businesses for compliance.
These applications are giving me $200 on the sale alone so its either $850 or $650...
Erase/install the machine with 10.7, drop your price and try selling it again with no software, then sell the 10.6.4+ disk seperately or as a paid addition to the 10.7 machine.
Some people don't want 10.6, others do. Some want both a Early 2011 AND 10.6 as they have a HUGE investment in PPC based software they don't want to give up, so they are looking for a Early 2011 with 10.6 like yours.
10.6 is the last OS X version on disk, so it's valuable,
I don't know where your trying to sell it , but try eBay  with the  combination.
10.7 Early 2011 Mac, just OS X Lion (no iLife)
    x $$$ more for the 10.6 disks

  • HT1338 how do you perform a clean install for imac

How to perform a clean install for imac, because I cannot upgrade to version 10.6?

Here are the technical requirements for Snow Leopard:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575
If your iMac meets the requirements, then you will have to purchase the Snow Leopard disk from apple:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
To reinstall your OS, insert the original OS disk that came with your iMac and start up the iMac holding the C key.  Start the installation process and when you see the menu bar, select 'Utilities'. From the drop down menu, select Disk Utility.  Erase the HDD and the continue the installation.
Note that this will erase all data on the HDD so have it backed up before you start.
    Ciao.

  • How do you remove and  clean the back side of a protective screen cover on an IPad?

I have a IPad that has a protective clear screen protector on it. I remove it because the screen was not properly mounted on the IPad. When I put it back on the IPad there were a number of lint spots on the screen that made viewing uncomfortable. How do I clean the side of this cover that adhere to the IPad it self? The screen protector I'm using feels like there is some type of adhesive material on it that the lint has attached itself to. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

    Hi Bill,
no problem, when I can help.  screen protectors are really quite expensive, so I oysters really important to get it positioned perfectly with all the dust and lint gone. I apply all my screen protectors on my 'idevices'  with sellotape and have never had a problem. Good luck!

  • How do you perform a clean installation of Tiger?

Can someone explain the process of installing a clean copy of Tiger on a Mac that already has Tiger on it (after backing up of course). I know how to do this on windows, but have never formatted and reinstalled the OS on a Mac before. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

From Disk Utility, go to Restore Tab. From there you select the source and target and it will do a volume copy. Make sure it boots and works.
You can use FireWire or 2nd internal drive for your backup.
Having a bootable backup is one of the most essential things you can do to eliminate and avoid problems.

  • How do you wipe a apple mac ibook G4 without the password?

I just bought an apple iBook G4 power PC off ebay & the seller hasn't wiped all their stuff from the hard drive. I don't have the Admin password or install/restore disk.  Can anyone tell me how I can make a clean install and make the ibook mine? Thanks.

You'd have to try and see what recourse you may have through
the eBay rules, since the computer should've had its Mac OS X
install-restore disc set, as part of the license to use the System.
A later retail DVD full install disc such as Leopard 10.5 may do
if you were to see about finding one from an Amazon reseller
or maybe someone who has the correct (retail) either Tiger or
Leopard. The system depends on what the iBook G4 has for
hardware; if the iBook G4 is an early one with smaller than an
867MHz PPC processor, it won't upgrade past Tiger 10.4.11.
Apple had been a spotty source for a generic white label DVD
replacement disc to install in supported PPC Macs, a full version
of Tiger 10.4, on one disc; and another disc, for Leopard 10.5.
The source of these had been AppleCare or Support, not retail.
And some persons at Apple were unable to verify their existence
until actually entering purchase codes into their database, as if
they were invisible, according to feedback from US vintage users
of PowerPC G4/G5 computers that did not have original discs.
So if you can locate a product Serial Number, sometimes in the
battery compartment, and call Apple Support or Applecare to
order a replacement OS X system installer on DVD, you'd need
to supply that serial number in an attempt to find out if they have
anything at all. And, also have a method of payment (a CC.)
Not sure how things differ on the England side of the Atlantic...
Here, on east side of the Pacific, things can be very different, too.
Usually grey-label discs for a specific series build model year
Mac won't do anything if attempts are made to use them in
another different Mac model. And would be an as-shipped OS.
Can't say as I have a workable resolution for your circumstance.
The PowerPC hardware limits you to no later than Leopard 10.5.8
and that should be only if the processor is faster than 867MHz. If
not, then the latest OS X is Tiger 10.4 from DVD, & these systems
get their last update via Software Update online, in a Combo file.
Perhaps you can better identify the computer, and see if a regional
Apple affiliate or specialist has access to a supported OS X installer.
That is the way to perform a complete erase, install, in most models.
Be sure if you buy a system DVD that it is a retail one and not a
disc set from a different or other Mac computer, as they rarely work.
    Good luck !

  • How to lock on a book when listening? Old Nano had a button for that.

My new Nano sometimes skips when I am listening to an audiobook, but I cannot find any way to lock it on to prevent that.

It probably can't be turned on at all. I suspect that your liquid damage has finally died a corrosion death on your logic board.
All you can do at this point is take the machine into your local Apple Store/AASP and have them diagnosis the problems and give you an estimate for repair.

  • How do you wipe out an iPhone with an accessibility password? AT&T Dealer.

Ok, so I need some help.
I have three iPhones, one iPhone5 and two iPhone4 models that customers have a traded in as part of our trade in program, but before we ship these devices we have to wipe them out back to factory default.  The customers provided me with their Apple ID passwords and so turning off Find My iPhone is not an issue.  However, each of these three devices have an accessibility restrictions PIN number on them, but no 4 digit passcode lock to unlock the phone.  Neither of these customers know what the accessibility password is and do not remember setting them.  How on Earth can I wipe out these phones without this stupid accessibility passwords?
Help! Please! I ask of you.
Both devices are on iOS7, by the way.

If they locked out changes to accounts in the Restrictions so that you can't get in to turn off Find My iPhone, you'll need to erase the devices via iCloud per these instructions:

  • How do you wipe the data from your Time Machine to start afresh?

    HI,
Ive used up all my data on the time machine.
I'd like to wipe it all and start again, but can't find instructions on how to do that.
Could anyone offer step by step advice for a non-technie. Thanks

It is strange that disk utility is missing.. but it is not usable anyway.. The TC (I presume what you mean by Time Machine) is a network drive. Disk Utility only works with local drives.
You open the airport utility and go the disk page and click the erase.. use only a quick erase otherwise it takes forever.

  • How do I keep my settings when importing into a clean iTunes?

I have multiple television shows saved to my HDD. I have gone through and added sorting information, dates, episode titles, episode numbers, dvd covers... everything that I would want to fill in under "Get Info".
Now I have installed iTunes on a new PC and this will be my Apple TV / iTunes server for the house. Everything runs just like it used to on the old PC except for one major issue.
I imported the TV shows into the new iTunes. It did not save all the settings. The artwork is there and some of the sorting information but it still imports them as Home Movies and is missing a few fields.
Does iTunes only write certain info to the actual file? Am I destined to have to re-sort everything every time I install and import to iTunes?

Still actually looking for an answer for this question.
Simply: How do I move the files to a new PC and have it keep everything I already spent HOURS putting into the "Get Info" screen in iTunes? Is there a backup command or something I am missing?
    Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit / iTunes 11.1.5.5.
