How Do You stop Auto opening apps?
How do you stop the previous apps from auto starting when you start your machine? I have already turned off the retsore windows in system prefes and I dont have any auto startup items... so what gives, can someone tell me how to stop them from opening up? I suppose I could go and close every app before I take my laptop off its power plug (battery is dead now days)... but I was just hoping there was some otehr way rather than going into each app before I pick up and run.

Update: looks like it does the same on the old versions - I'm assuming its the time set to play each slide. I will just even these up so the don't look so inconsistent. -

How to you stop the health app running in the background?
How to you stop the new Health App from running in the background? Its its always running collecting data on how many steps I have taken and how far I have walked.. I walked 12000 steps and travelled 4.1km DRIVING my kids to school this morning according to the app.
I never intend to use the health app because I do not need an app on my phone to help me live a healthy lifestyle. Therefore I find it intrusive there is no way to stop it from tracking my steps or whatever else it may be doing. I found a way to force the app to crash and maybe this will stop it from running in the background. Open the app, tap "Health Data" at the bottom of the screen, tap "Fitness" then "Steps" and tap "Add Data" type in a huge number - a very huge number with 30 or more characters, you can even add more than 1 decimal point. Repeat this for "walking + Running Distance". From this point forward the app will crash when you try to look at the data. Maye this prevents it from recording new data, I'm not sure but I really like the fact the app crashes. Hopefully Apple will add a feature to allow us to turn off data collection altogether or even better, allow us to delete this app.

When I'm using mozilla firefox open some sites without my permission. And when I'm not using the browser it opens sites alone too.
I have passed anti-virus and removed all unneeded extensions him.

I only have a limited amount to download daily and I need to stop the updates.
Deletion of apps works as you describe EXCEPT in the case of apps that are pre-loaded as part of the iOS. Apps that are part of the iOS cannot be deleted by the user.
To free storage space, try removing unneeded videos, photos, music that take a very large amount of space. -

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to prevent the automatic downloading of the SD version when you buy an HD show.
You can, if you wish, suggest that the ability to prevent the SD version from downloading through the iTunes feedback page. But since the SD version is needed for use on iPods and there at least at present is no mechanism for someone to download the SD version at a later time should they decide they need it, Apple may just continue to force the downloading of both versions. If they get enough feedback on the issue, though, they may figure something out.

Preivew keeps saving different copies of a pdf I am working on (highlighting/annotating), and I now only have 1GB left on my harddrive (had 180GB left).If you are using Safari, look at Safari > Preferences > General and make sure 'Open "safe" files after downloading' is not checked. Other browsers should have a similar setting in their preferences.
