How do you sync contacts between an iPhone 5 and a MacBook Pro without iCloud?

How do you sync contacts between an iPhone 5 and a MacBook Pro, using OS X 10.9.2 and iTunes 11.1.5 without using iCloud?

I do NOT trust iCloud because it duplicated by contact book 4 to 5 times and blew up my records.
Lately I realized that my Contact Book contacts are not updated and having lesser records, and did a check. There are a lot of missing contacts, despite Synching.
I sync iPhone 5s (and iPhone 5) to Mac Contacts and I do NOT use CLOUD. Now it seems that it forces me to use CLOUD.
I don't want to use CLOUD because of the BAD experience.
I just realized that I cannot sync my iPhone 5s (&5) Contacts with Mac Contacts anymore, there is no even a button for Contacts on iTunes.
This is RIDICULOUS... Screw around someone, this company is doomed.

Check your Settings on both devices. Is iCloud's calender sync turned on (Settings > iCloud > Calendar)? Please make also sure that you are not only using local calendars.

How do I sync contacts from my iPad to my MacBook Pro running Mavericks?
    rbarge

    Contacts sync via iCloud.
Set up iCloud on your iPad and your MBP, with the same iCloud account on both, with the same Apple ID.
On the Mac you set this up with System Preferences > iCloud, and have Contacts checked in the box on the right.
It looks very much the same on the iPad, Settings > iCloud.
If you have set this up and it's still not working, then sign out of and then back into your iCloud accounts.

    What instructions?
In the source list click devices (so far so good) then click the entry for your iphone or ipod.  that doesn't exist. HELP asap
You don't import photos from the iPhone to your computer using iTunes.
See this -> iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Note this only applies to photos taken with the iPhone. Any photos you previously added to your iPhone using iTunes should be copied from old computer to new computer.

  • How can I sync iMessage between my iPhone and iPad

Hello all, I have a firtst gen iPad (running iOS5.1.1). I using my Apple ID to run iMessege on it. Recently, I bought iPhone 5 (2 month ago) running iOS 6.1.3. I sing up to iMessage using Apple ID but start new converstion from my phone number as caller ID. Somehow only 1 conversion syncs between my iPhone and my iPad. Recently it stop. So I start looking for answers. I want to sync my all converstions, I found that I can set phone number as Caller ID on an iPad but I can't found how. I will apreciate if anyone will put some light on how iMessage works.
I still want that my caller ID will be my phone number cause I don't want to make 2 separte thread on the one who get my message.
If I set my email as caller ID so when I'll send a text message from my phone it will make a seperate thread converstion from me on the device of the person I send the text to.

  • How do i sync contacts on two iphones from the same computer without merging the contacts

I called tech support and they suggested I set up a separate user account on my computer and that should create a new windows contact file (which it did).  When I sync the iphone from the new user account, it seems to still be syncing to the windows contacts folder in the main administrator account and not the newly created account.  iIconfirmed this because i deleted one contact from the iphone and one contact from the new windows contact folder.  I then did a sync and no changes occurred on phone or the windows contact folder in teh new user account.  I then went to the original user account and teh name I deleted from teh iphone was deleted from that windows folder.  I am not able to select any different folder to sync contacts with in the itunes "info" tab. Do I need to set up under a completely different computer?

I called support and they helped me realize the " sync contacts with windows contacts" was unchecked (maybe I didn't click sync or apply when I first checked it?).  He helped me clean up some unnecessary contacts by clicking the contacts box in the advance tab and removing names directly from the windows contacts folder before syncing.

  • How do I sync contacts from my iPhone to my MacBook?

I know there is a way to sync my contacts from my iPhone 6 to my Macbook (running on Yosemite)...but who can tell me how to do it?!
Right now, my MacBook has all these random contacts but I want to be able to see all my iPhone contacts on my Mac; and if I change info on one device, I want it to sync across all my devices.
I've got iCloud enabled and the contacts box check on both devices, but I don't see them merged? Any help would be appreciated!

Log in to https://icloud.com. Do you see all of your contacts there? If you have iCloud enabled on the MacBook and the iPhone they should sync in near-real time. Mine all do. However, all of the contacts on the phone must be in a contact group that is synced to iCloud. If you have contacts from before you set up iCloud they may not be in a group that syncs. You will have to get a 3rd party app that allows moving contacts between groups on the phone, as the built in app cannot do that. There are several in the app store.

  • How can I sync my notes from iPhone 3GS to MacBook Pro?

How can I sync my Notes from the iPhone 3GS running IOS 6.0.1 to my MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.2?

The most straightforward way (assuming your iPhone 3GS is running iOS 6, which it should be) is to use iCloud to house your contacts.
Then it would be trivial to have your contacts synced and maintained between your MacBook Pro and your iPhone.
P.S.:  Sorry, I said contacts but meant notes.  iCloud would work for both.

  • The lastest iTunes upgrade broke my wireless syncing between my iPhone and my Macbook Pro

iTunes was actually working before the latest update. Now I cannot wirelessly sync my phone to either my MacBook Pro or my PC.

    Hi, AppleJR.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable to sync via Wi-Fi after updating iTunes. I would start with going through the troubleshooting steps outlined below.
Quit and reopen iTunes and restart your iOS device
Quit and reopen iTunes on your computer. Then, restart your iOS device.Restart your network router
Restart your home network router using the manufacturer's instructions. You may need to disconnect the power cord for 30 seconds or more.
Note: During this time, Internet services, such as a VoIP-based phone, won't work, and you may need to reset additional network devices.Check your network connection
Make sure that your Wi-Fi network has an active Internet connection.
Make sure that you connect your iOS devices and computer to the same network over Wi-Fi.
Check for network configuration changes that may interfere with syncing:
    VPN configurations
Extending the Wi-Fi network through multiple wireless access points or routers
Guest networks or other security configurations that limit access between devices
Routers that configure different networks for different frequencies such as 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz
    Connecting the computer over Ethernet
Wake up your computer and open iTunes. If your computer is asleep or iTunes isn't open, the device may not sync.
Update your router. If you're using an AirPort or AirPort Time Capsule, you can learn more about firmware updates. If you're using a router from another manufacturer, contact the manufacturer to ask about available updates.
    Check for network interference
If you see performance issues when you sync over Wi-Fi, something may be causing wireless interference:
    Microwave ovens
    Cordless phones
Physical barriers, such as metal walls or distance between your computer, base station, and iOS device
Try the following to reduce network interference:
Move your iOS device and computer closer to the Wi-Fi router or base station.
Check for sources of potential interference.
Remove your iOS device from any case, stand, or attachment.
Open Safari and try to load a webpage.
    Check firewall settings
If you enabled a firewall on your router or computer, make sure that your computer and iOS device can communicate.
Follow these steps to use the built-in firewall option with iTunes on your Mac.
For third-party firewalls and security software, see the developer or manufacturer for assistance.
Mac computers use port 123 to set the date and time automatically. Incorrect date and time on a computer or iOS device can cause connection issues. If you don't know if your router has a firewall or if the required ports are open, follow these steps:
Enable Wi-Fi syncing for additional iOS devices on your network to see if they have the same issue. (See the previous steps to enable Wi-Fi syncing for additional devices.)
Test your device on a different network. If the device works on another network, the issue may be your router or network configuration. Contact your router manufacturer or Internet service provider for additional troubleshooting.
If you use another security or firewall software on your computer or router, you can troubleshoot security software issues, contact the manufacturer, or check the documentation to learn how to open TCP ports 123 and 3689 as well as UDP ports 123 and 5353.

  • How to move my contacts from my iphone 3G to a 4G without icloud

I have an iphone 3G and I'm trying to move my contacts ( around 300) to my iphone 4G . I backed up my iphone 3 G in Itunes but when I want to sync to my iphone 4S it says that contacts are sync via icloud.  How can I move the contacts without typing  them again?

You should have been syncing them with icloud or your computer regularly.
Just sync them to the new iphone.

  • How do I eliminate duplicate iCal events between my iPhone and my Macbook Pro?

I'm not sure why duplicate events are appearing on my iPhone. Any suggestions as to how to stop this from happening as well as how to delete one of the duplicates? (I am not always able to delete the event when I "edit" it on the iPhone.)

Can not find out.  Candy crush has been successful, now they are trying to rip us off, while blaming Apple.

  • How do I transfer files between my iMac and my MacBook Pro using an ethernet cable (not with AirPort)?

Even though I connect my computers with an ethernet cable the files are still being transferred wirelessly.  I can tell because the transfers (usually around 4GB) take a few minutes with AirPort off, but 30 minutes to an hour with AirPort on.  I want to transer the files and still have AirPort on since I work on both computers at the same time and want to maintain the connection to the internet.

Be sure Ethernet is listed first in System Prefs > Network.
If it isn't, click the "gear" icon and select Set Service Order.

    Hey dthompson2108,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
You can sync contacts between your iPhone and MacBook Pro using iCloud or iTunes.
See this link for help with setting up iCloud on your computer and device(s):

Instead of turning on iCloud on your iPhone and Mac, you can sync using iTunes as explained in this article:
