How do you sync Yahoo contacts and iCal calendar to the Touch

Help results say "If you have an iPod, iPod nano, or iPod mini, you can sync it with Address Book contacts and iCal information on your computer" but we have the Touch. It also says "When the iPod icon appears in iTunes, select it and then click the Contacts tab", but no Contacts tab appears when I select the iPod on the left in iTunes.

The tab you're looking for is called "Info". You should see it just after "Photos".

No, that's just wasting space. A back up needs to be on a different disk.

Is this a one time sync or do you want to keep them synced all the time?
If it's a one time sync you want to use Setup Assistant to migrate your data from the old machine to the new one. You can use the Lion Setup Assistant tips for help.
If you want to always keep them synced you have several alternatives. First is you can wait for iCloud which will be released this Fall according to Apple. You can find information about iCloud at www.apple.com/icloud. Several years ago I began using a tool called Synctogether which syncs Bookmarks, Calendars, Contacts, Widgets, Dock Items, Mail Accounts and Mail Signatures. You just check what you want synced, for example I do Bookmarks, Calendars and Contacts. This app sells for about $49 I think, however if I were you I'd wait for iCloud which will give you 5GB (which is a LOT) for free.

I then realized that none of my contacts and calendars that I have created on my phone are on my computer... I don't mean to sound silly, but after you checked to sync the info, did you do a sync?
you do have the option to sync between devices via iCloud. however you may wish to back up the info if you can because iCloud ate all my contacts.
Another more tedious way is to e-mail your contacts, one at a time, and open the e-mail on your iPad and computer and save it.

How can I sync "On My Mac" iCal calendars on Snow Leopard with iPhone and Google Calendar?

(I've done a lot of searching for a clear answer but without success.)
Can someone please advise how I can get the "On My Mac" calendars on iCal v4.0.4 (running under Snow Leopard 10.6.8) to sync with an iPhone and Google Calendars, 'over the air' (i.e. not via iTunes) and both ways (two-way syncing).
There was a great bit of software called Spanning Sync which did it all but it's now discontinued. I'm running Snow Leopard and do NOT want to upgrade to OS Lion.
I've tried the iCloud route but it just creates an extra set of "@me.com" calendars under the "On My Mac" calendars - it is not syncing the "On My Mac" calendars themselves (and I want to use the "On My MAc" calendars as the master dataset (the 'Truth database' to use an Apple term!).
... And the same happens when I try to sync my Google Calendars: another set of "@google.com" calendars appear.
Now instead of 2 calendars in iCal I have 6: 2 On My Mac calendars, 2 iCloud ones, and 2 Google ones. (This is not progress Apple!)

Do you have sync contacts and sync calendar events with Outlook selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?
If not and your Outlook address book and calendar are empty, before selecting this and the first sync for this data, enter one contact and one calendar event in Outlook. This should provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.

You may need to provide more information as I can't think of any situation where there is a need to "set up" anything for copy and paste. To copy you simply select (highlight) what it is that you want to copy and then go to the File menu and click the copy command or use the Command + C key combination. Paste is Command + V.

I had this problem as well and after several weeks of research I found something that worked for me. I went into contacts clicked on groups and determined which email I had synced with contacts. I had 2 however I was only showing my Gmail account in my contact list. I went to my Gmail account and entered an individuals name, phone number and email address into my contact list in Gmail. Then went into settings, Facebook and update all contacts. it updated that one contact with all the information that is shared with me on Facebook, including the profile picture. I found an even easier way to accomplish this if you're using a Yahoo account because at this time Yahoo has a sync option that it seems that Gmail's latest version currently does not. Go to your Yahoo account, contacts and import all contacts from Facebook. Once that is done go back to settings, Facebook and update all contacts. Voila all you Facebook information in now in your iPhone contact list. Note: You may end up with some duplicated in your contact list. Simply link the contacts together and all of that individuals information is stored in one contact in your phone. Hope this helps and Happy clicking! lol

I have a second iPad. I wish to sync my Outlook contacts and calendar with my second iPad, however, upon doing so, I am prompted that I will be deleting the apps on the second iPad, which I suffered through yesterday (twice). Can you tell us a little bit more about your configuration? Are you using Exchange? Are you currently run Outlook for Mac (Office 2011) on your MacBook Pro? Or are you looking to migrate data from a PC to Outlook for Mac on your MacBook Pro?

I just sync my yahoo contact to my iPhone and saw that I have lots of friends named AAA. Also, some addresses and phone numbers are all mixed up. It feels like someone just grabbed the addresses and swapped them. Can anyone tell me what's going on? What can I do to avoid this happening again? Much thanks.

When the iphone is connected to the computer and itunes is open, click on edit at the top of itunes and choose preferences.
When the preferences window opens, click on the iphone or syncing tab.
Near the bottom there is a button to reset sync history.
Click ok on the preferences window.
Now go to the info tab in the iphone settings and scroll to the bottom.
There is a check box in the advanced section to replace all contact data on the iphone.
Check this box and click apply.
This will replace any contact data on the iphone with a new copy.
