How do you title/retitle pictures in iphoto ?

Hi there I have the already installed iphoto 5 (not used to it as I am a 'newbie' to MAC !!) When I down load my pics direct from camera to iphoto and then want to title them (or retitle), I can't find how to do this !!! I know there has got to be an easy way ( and it's probably under my nose !!) Cheers.

It's the little i under your nose in the bottom left hand corner of the iPhoto window. click on it to open the "info" panel.
Click on the word"title" and type in your title.

I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro and just added some pictures from an SD card to iPhoto to see how it works. However I can't work out how to delete a photo from the album. I only want to remove one so how do I do it?

Albums are logical things holding pointers to the photo in the library
Deleting a photo from an album does just that it removes the photo from the album
To delete it from the computer select it in an event, press the delete key, empty the iPhoto trash (iPhoto menu ==> empty trash) and empty the system trash

If you delete a picture, it sends it to iPhoto trash (left column), there you can permently delete using the empty trash with the icon in the upper right corner. It will come up with a warning if you want tp permently delete trash (photos). It the iPhoto trash you can drag them back out, once you empty the trash, they are gone.
You can also go to finder preferences>advanced, and unclick secyre empty trash, and make sure show warning before empting trash is clicked.

How do you copy a picture in photos? When I right click on them it doesn't give you the option to copy and when I click edit, copy, it does nothing.

I've copied pictures from iPhoto before and its worked perfectly fine. Just can't seem to find a way to do so on Photos.
I my Photos version it works to select a photo and then use the "Edit" menu.
Edit > Copy ⌘C or pressing the key combination ⌘C
There is no visible confirmation, but the photo will be in the Clipboard.
I cannot test this with Word. But I can insert the copied photo from the clipboard into Pages or Keynote documents by using ⌘V

When I highlight a picture and duplicated it I click on the duplicate picture and drag it into my other event however it takes the original and the duplicate pictures into the new event and I lose the pictures from the original event. There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

Hi all gurus.
This must be the most silly question so far in the forum but I have to ask again: How do you remove a picture from a theme?
I uploaded a background picture for the Masthead Function Area but now I want to remove it. Since the correspodning field is blank when you go into the editor you can't erase the picture's URL
What you can do is to browse to, and choose, a new picture and then erase the URL in the field. The mentioned area is then actually emptied and the color set in the field "Background Color of Masthead Function" is shown.
But, and here is the problem, when you save the theme the picture is back again! Isn't there the possibility to show the background color, for which there is a field, instead of a picture? Do I really have to upload a picture just containing the color I want to have??? If so, that must be one of the most stupid functionaliteis I have seen in the portal so far, indeed...
I'm most grateful for every suggestion of how to solve this in a decent way and not the idiotic "replace picture with another picture" way.

Hi Raghu.
Unfortunately it didn't help. Their solution with writing "none" in the field is only applicable for those objects where you have a field determening ways of showing the object. There you have the different behaviours like "repeat", "non-repeat" and "none" and there you can write it directly in the field.
The field of which I am talking doesn't have these options and hence not "none". I still tried it though but it didn't work, the picture was back after saving the theme.
