Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to fix the error that reads:
Connection Error Detected
Digital Editions could not connect to the fulfillment server. Please make sure you are connected to the internet.
I am using a Windows Vista Home Premium computer, and I my interent is working. My adobe digital edition is 2.0.
Does anyone have an idea?

This can be a firewall issue (or sometimes even an anitvirus issue).
Try with firewall temporarily turned off.
There are some Vista specific suggestions at http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/installing-digital-editions-20-windows.html (see the top of this forum contents page).
If that doesn't help, it may be worth trying the older ADE to see if that helps.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0. Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Connection error detected fulfillment server previously worked

I am getting the mesage connection error detected. Digital Editions could not connect to the fulfillment server. Please make sure you are connected to the internet. I am able to go on line to try and figure out the problem, but i can't move downloaded library book to ADE. Why? Do this regularly w/not many problems. others are visual c++ runtime library, but book eventually can be loaded onto my Nook.

Two possibilities, not sure if either will help but worth a try ...
1) ~~~~~
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

i downloaded an ebook from my public library's website. in the past i have not had troubles with this, but now, although i am connected to the internet when i try to open the file i am receiving a 'connection error detected' warning and am unable to open my ebook.

Are you using a Sony eReader?
There is a bug in ADE that stops it reading library books if a Sony eReader is plugged in, even if you don't try to use the Sony.

I have had this same issue but thankfully fixed it. Follow he steps below:
Sync your iPhone with you iTunes therefore your info is backed up. Unplug your phone.
Go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Once your phone has reset and come back on answer the question until it asks if you want to back up from itunes Click this then plug your phone in.
After everything has sync'd back to your phone everything should work fine.

Once you setup the mail gateway with an IP address, port, and domain name. How can you test email connectivity? How do you force the MARS Appliance to send an email?

There is no "test e-mail connectivity" button/function. Essentially you need to configure inspection rules to notify you when they are fired by mars.
You will need to setup a user (preferably a non-admin account for testing) under "Management"-"user management"(if you haven't already done so) make sure to supply e-mail address.

Now you can "Configure a Rule to Send an Alert Action." the following link explains how to do this...An easy one would be the "System Rule: CS-MARS Login Failures - Non-Admin User" rule. Follow the instructions in the link below under the "Configure a Rule to Send an Alert Action" section to modify the rule mentioned above. Keep in mind that this rule only fires when there are login failures. Once you have modified this rule try logging into mars using the non-admin user with a bad password...you should get a e-mail from MARS.

Newbie: How do you create a connection

I have just installed SQL developer (3) for the first time but am stuggling with a stupid problem, I can't see how you create a connection!
All the help and tutorials I've found so far explain that you just need to click on the connections object and add it there, but I don't have that, mine started on the start page.
I've been through the menus and cannot find anything obvious, the closest I found was the data miner but clicking on add connection with that has no affect.
What am I missing?

If the Connections pane doesn't appear when you select View -> Connections, then you may have a problem with your installation.
What OS, JDK version, SQL Developer version are you using. You can get most of the SQL Developer and Java information from the various tabs in Help | About
Try running <sqldev>\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe instead of the normal one (Assuming you are on windows). That displays a console which may show additional error information.

Why does unchecking the "use automatic configuration script" box on Internet Explorer 8 fix connectivity errors?

As long as I have been in the job and we have been using IE as our browser, we have controlled the proxy settings with an automatic configuration file.
Recently, with IE8 on WinXP and Win7, we have had situations with the user getting various connectivity errors. By unchecking the "use automatic configuration script" box, they start working. But we don't change anything else.
These error are not consistent from machine to machine.
We are in a AD Domain environment
These are the two errors I have documented.
Error: 5
Description: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.
Access to resrouce is forbidden by server while attempting to access server at
http://content.mpl.org/cgi-bin/admin/pwtest.exe?CISOVER=60.
Please check the permissions to the file on th eserver.
Two very different problems. Both somehow fixed by unchecking the box.
The config file itself has not been changed in over a year.
Can anyone explain why unchecking this box, but not making any other changes to the proxy settings would fix connectivity problems? These are all external sites that need to go through the proxy.

can you repair system file errors like ntoskrnl.exe in windows server 2008 and 2012 like like before in windows server 2003 ?
the steps were repairing ntoskrnl.exe error in windows server 2003
1- have a 2003 cd and from that cd start recovery console and copy from i386 directory ntldr and ntdetect.com to windows /system32 directory on the server and then repairing
2- MBR with fixmbr command and then rebuild BOT.INI file with bootcfg/rebuild .
now my question is how you repair or solve such problem with ntoskrnl.exe error in windows server 2008 and windows server 2012

What will take a lot of time? Repair or clean install? These days one can standup a new VM and have an operating system on it in around 20 minutes or so.
Correct server 2003 is file based deployment and completely different OS from repair perspective as well.

****How to speed up/Fix installation errors on your Mac****

I recently went to the geniuos bar, and got some help. For some reason my Mac wouldnt install anything made by Apple. Not iTunes, iPhoto, even iLife. I was stuck, but they helped. The main problem that happens quite abit is a problem with your OS. All you have to do, is re-install your OS. How do you do that? Well, here we go.
First, grab your Mac OS X install disk.
Next, double-click on the Install Mac OS X icon in the CD on your desktop.
Then, Follow the onscreen instructions. In the pannel where you select the destination disk, select your current Mac OS X disk.
Then, Click options. If you want to save your existing files, users, and network settings, (yes, you want to. It saves EVERYTHING.)
Then, click continue.
Finally, click install.
Let it install, and then when installation is done, let your computer boot up. As it boots up, it will put all of your stuff back where it was. Then, when you get to your desktop, update your version of OS X to the newest version. Finally, go into /your name/previous systems. Now, delete previous system 1. There you go! Now, all your files are back where they where, the problems are fixed, and your Mac should be running like they are new!
(NOTE: After doing this, you may have to re-install the plugins for the Safari webbrowser.)

Glad a re-install solved your issue. However, it is not the only, nor is necessarily the best solution to some issues.
In terms of the re-install one should always backup the Users Folder, if you have any data on it, and any third party apps you want to save.
Again, I am glad your issue was resolved to your satisfaction.
