How do you trim a document in PSE 9?

If elements or paper are larger than the document, how do you trim the document as a whole when finished?

Duplicate the background layer, then shut off the visibility of this layer by clicking on its eye icon.
Make the background copy layer active, and try CTRL+T
Does that work?
If you want just a selection, rather than a global resize, you need to make a selection with one of the tools, and put it on its own layer.

Right now, when I'm trying to highlight documents to export, I have to click on each document individually. Is there a way to highlight one document while scrolling down the list until all desired documents are highlighted? I would like to rapidly be able to do this to save time when I am exporting or saving multiple files from my documents to an external drive, CD-Rom or cloud storage.

Ive just recently bought a Macbook Pro and was wondering how can you drag a document onto an external hard drive. Is it the same as Windows?? Because everytime I try that, it wont let me :s.
If anyone could help it would be awesome because I need to know how to do this so I can put my cousework I have done on my MacBookPro, onto my external hard drive.

Your external drive is likely formatted NTFS.
Take the drive to the PC and remove all the data on it and right click on it and format it exFAT or FAT on the PC, then place the files back on.
(Formatting a drive will remove all data on it.)
Take it to the Mac and it can use it just fine.
No need to buy any software, it will have to be constantly updated and tends to cause problems and glitches.

Hit File > Export... and choose Word Document.

Where have you saved the document, or are you talking about a template?
You do not delete any documents inside Pages. You must locate them in Finder (probably in the Documents folder) and then drag them to the Trash.
If you need basic help with using a Mac, Apple has helpful videos and tips in their Support section of their website.

If you chose print, you can save as PDF. If you open the saved PDF in preview, you can save as JPEG, GIF, PNG. FYI you can crop in preview.
Another option is you could use command + shift + 4 to do a screen shot of a specific part of of the screen.

Check the scanner manufacturer's website for the most recent / updated drivers and install same.
Have Acrobat XI installed.
While Acrobat XI can make use of Windows WIA drivers Acrobat "likes" TWAIN drivers best.
So, if available, have the latest-greatest TWAIN.
Acrobat can communicate with the scanner via the scanner software.
An alternative --
Scan directly to TIFF. Then use Acrobat to create PDF from the TIFF.
Some scanners come with software to output to PDF directly; if present you could use that.

how do you trim a guitar track? I have recorded a guitar track. at the end of the track it has a hum I want to remove...not the whole track just the very end.

While this is fine for audio regions, whith software instruments I prefer literally cutting off the unwanted segment by splitting the track and deleting the last part as opposed to just shortening the track, though it's a little more work.
The reason for this: If you join two adjacent regions that have been shortened, all of a sudden the trimmed-off notes of region one reappear in the combined region. They weren't really gone, they just didn't play, and now they're back, causing a cacophonic result. Annoying bug (or feature) of GB. If you cut them off and delete them, they're gone forever. (Warning: You also can't bring them back by extending the truncated region.)

OK I decided to go with Pages as my document editor on my iPad 2. It seems to be powerful enough to do the kind of text editing that I need to do. I need some tables, a few graphics, headers, footers, etc. You know the basic stuff. I am not going to try to write a dissertation or thesis on my iPad, but I need to be able to write memos and some work documents.
I am having a hard time learning the Apple way of doing things I guess. Must be too many years on a PC using Microsoft Office.
But I need to know how to open an existing document, make some changes and then save it with a new name so I don't overwrite my original document? Just a basic "Save As" function.
Is this possible? Or has Apple devised a way that I am just not seeing yet?

Someone maybe can tell you another/the right way of doing this but I do it this way. In pages press and hold the document until it wiggles and then select it by touching it so the orange border appears around it, then press the folder button at the top, the one with the + sign on it and this will create an exact copy on the documents screen. Then just open and edit that one thus preserving the content of the original.
There may well be a better way, but hope this helps.

When you create an alternate layout this modal pops up allowing you to choose a page size with width and height dimensions. After you've selected "OK" how to you get back to this modal? When you go to File > Document Settings it only shows the settings for the main layout (frist layout created). How do you get to the doucment presets for an alternate layout?

You could use the Page tool.
In the Pages panel, highlight the master page used by the alternate layout you want to change. Choose the Page tool. Enter a new page size. Because you're applying this to the master page, it will apply to all the document pages based on it.

How do I trim this field to compare with other records that are Varchar2() fields?
Will the Trim function work? like trim(A). I know you can trim a Varchar2 field.
