  • How do I turn faces off?

How do I turn faces off?

There is a way to disable Faces from creating the small face files and writing to the database file. It will still do a search but that's rather harmless.  Here's how:
1 - open the library like this in the Finder.
2 - in the Database folder move this file to the Trash: Faces.db.
3 - close the package/folder and launch iPhoto.  Close it after a moment.
4 -  open the package, find the new version of the file and lock it via the Info window for the file.
5 - while viewing the contents of the package type Command+F to start a search.
6 - set the criteria of the search to:  Kind is Image and Name Contains "face".
7 - select all of the files in the search results window and drag to the Trash.
8 -close the package and launch iPhoto.
You will get the faces spinning wheel as it tries to index the library the first time it's opened but it won't be able to write to the database file if you should try to add a face and won't create any new jpeg faces files. Of course make a backup of your library before trying this and no guarantee implied.

  • How do you turn Stocks off in iOS 8.2?

For some reason Stocks doesn't appear in the Notification Centre settings for me anymore in iOS 8.2, since I updated.
How do you turn it off now? It's kinda annoying seeing it in my notification centre all the time...

Pull down the window then scroll to the very bottom. You will see an "Edit" button. Click on that to customize the view.
    Cheers,

  • Apple TV, how do you turn it off?

When done with Apple TV, how do you turn it off?

Closest to Off is "Standby" which I beleive you'll find at the end of the Settings Menu OR the Settings > General Menu.
You can also set it to auto Sleep at a small interval ( I think 15 mins is the shortest ) which does the same thing automatically.
By the by, It's worth familiarizing yourself with the Settings menu since there are many options there of interest.

  • How do you turn on pano in the camera

How do you turn on Pano in the camera? At the bottom of the screen I can see a partial pano word, but nothing happens when I tap it.
On the bottom I have slo-mo on one side and pano on the other, but they are partially faded out.

You are very welcome. I agree, there are some very un-Apple like changes to the user interface in iOS 7.
The iOS 7 manual may help.

  • Can you turn Faces off for specific Projects?

I do photography just for myself normally, and for my pictures I like to use Faces. However, I've also done some photography for groups. I don't want Faces to try and tag these people, because I don't even know them! Is there a way to turn Faces off for certain projects, but not turn it off totally?

I have a similer thing since I use aperture for my work and for personal things. I use seperate libraries. Create a seperate library from the file menue. (File->switch library->other/new) make one for work (no faces) and one for personal (faces enabled) It's not as simple as setting it on or off for each project but it does work for me.

Brand new iPad user, just need to know how to simply turn off the the Genius!

    In the App Store ....
Tap on the featured tab and then swipe down to the bottom left corner and tap on your Appl eID. Tap the ID and then tap View Apple ID. Enter your password and then you can swipe down to turn off Genius in the next window.
In iTunes on your computer go to Store>Turn off genius  - and that will stop syncing Genius playlists to the iPad.

  • How do I turn Faces OFF? Completely unusable for me!!

There has got to be a way to turn off the abomination that is FACES.
I am providing tech support for a local theatre with 15K+ photos. I have used IPhoto Manager to separate the photos into 5 libraries by season with roughly 3K photos in each. Faces is completely useless to us - We only care about particular shows, i.e. Events, not individuals in a particular show. Every time I start a library it starts running Faces again. How can I make this stop? It is making IPhoto useless to us!

There is not currently a a way as you can see from reading the many posts on this subject in this forum - if you just let it finish its initial scan it stays out of the way and you ignore it

  • How do you turn it off?

Seriously. With the old 1G TV you could use the remote to put it into standby - hold down the menu button for about 4 seconds and then do the same with the play button. Awfully slow, but it did work (mostly). Can you put the new 2G into standby/sleep the same way? Or is there another way, or have Apple forced you to use the menus?
That last would be a right royal PIA as there would be no way to use a universal remote to put it into standby:-(
    Anyone confirm either way?

Yes, but the Universal remote manufacturers are up a gum tree if the TV itself doesn't support any such command. I believe the 1G didn't have this initially and it was introduced later and that may be the case for the new 2G. But before I actually have one in my hand to try, I was asking whether anyone could confirm if it does have such a facility. As I said, if it does not, then NO universal remote will be able to overcome that.
Perhaps someone who has a 2G already would try it out and confirm if it does turn to standby with the same IR command sequence (that I outlined above) as the 1G. That WOULD be helpful.
Actually, what would be most helpful is for Apple to realise the importance of implementing true ON and OFF discreet IR commands for any device such as this as it is of PARAMOUNT importance to using it with a universal remote and let's face it, Apple expect this device to be used in an environment that typically would be controlled by a universal remote. The solution they finally added to the 1G was a very poor implementation of this concept. It takes a long time for the commands to complete and often seems to fail completely even when the remote is held pointing in the correct direction until the command sequence is truly ended.
The actual IR commands can be in addition to those that the Apple Remote can generate as they would be specifically for those installations where Apple's remote would not be used. For heavens sake, TV and Hi Fi manufacturers for years have been including additional discreet codes not used by their respective remotes, just to allow good integration with a home cinema/HiFi system. It is very aggravating when Apple insists on being so obtuse like this.

  • I tried to use Battery updater and it failed, now it starts up on my computer boot up evrytime and fails everytime, how do you turn it off or get it to work?

I tried to use the Battery updater software on my Powerbook G4 and it didn't work, now it starts up on my computer startup everytime, how do you get it to work or turn it off?

It's possible that your model PowerBook doesn't need the updater.
Did Software Update offer you the Updater, or did you download it from Apple? This article"
