my son was playing a game. then was asked to submit Apple ID/password... and he got halfway through and screen froze on his crappy app and part of our log in id on the page.
I have had this iPad for a week. Not so sure how to do much of anything... any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Try resetting it. Hold down the home and sleep keys, past the red power down slider, and until you see the silver apple. See if it reboots.
it's a very good chance that that game is requiring too much processing power from the iPad. If it continues to freeze it up you might want to look for another one.

The button on the top that you use to lock and unlock or put to sleep is the power button. The button lower center of the screen is the home button...can be used to also wake from sleep and switch to the base home screen.

Welcome to the Apple community.
You can't sync an iPad with an Apple TV, maybe you mean AirPlay.
Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2, iPad 3 or iPhone 4s, double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.

Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

If you mean the passcode to unlock the iPad then you will need to connect it to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

I have the 3 rd generation iPad, it has been almost a year since I purchased it and the battery when fully charged reads 100%. Recently, I visited my local Jump Plus store and the staff said I should drain the batteries on my iPad & iPhone completely until they are dead and recharge once a month. Is this accurate? It is my understanding that you should not drain the batteries completely? Also, is that the same as calibrating the battery?
