Hi BPMcDowell,
Be in RnR environment, remove all discs from your drive, then press Restore system to factory contents.
Hope it helps.

  • How to use the rescue and recovery, and the product recovery discs ?

    Hi everyone,
I've just recently became a new owner of a T61, and really enjoying it. I haven't had a chance yet to test-drive the lenovo phone support, as I have not yet screwed anything up that bad that required their help. I did try a clean factory reinstall from the service partition and it worked great. I would like to find out, how does one use the rescue and recovery startup disc, and the product recovery discs that I created myself? From my previous experience with Dell and HP, I only had to insert the first one and restart the computer, and the rest followed. But with ThinkPads, if I ever wanted to bring it to a clean factory state using those discs, do I use rescue and recovery first, followed by the product recovery? I'm curious, what is the difference between the two?

There is no diff between the two... One is on  the Hard Drive and the other on CD/DVD.
Having the HDD version (pre-installed) is a good for trouble shooting.  It uses a whole diff O/S on a whole diff partition (not C.
So if you are having problems and boot to RnR (via F11), and those problems go away. you know your issue is software related. If you still have the same problems probly Hardware related...  IT IS AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO TAKE WINDOWS OUT OF THE PROBLEM.
Other then that. You can re-image another HDD from disks, you can't do that with the F11 version.
    dose all that make sense?
    Hi blake_ibm,
Thanks. All this makes perfect sense to me, but that's not what I'm asking for. My question is this: if I wanted to bring my notebook to its factory shipped condition using my recovery cd's, how do I do that? Do I insert cd1 first and then restart the notebook, or do I just insert it without restarting it, or perhaps I should use first the rescue and recovery?
You said that there is no difference between the two, but what two are you talking about man? I am not comparing cd recovery to partition recovery. I am talking about rescue and recovery cd, with system recovery cd's. These are the two things that I'm talking about.
I'm really grateful for all replies, but please people, read the question first !!!
I would really appreciate if someone could explain the steps involved in performing a clean factory recovery, using the cd's, and not the recovery partition. I just want to know for the future, in case one day I have to do it. That is all I'm asking.

  • Can't Uninstall Rescue and Recovery on my Lenovo 3000N100 laptop, using XP

Hi yesterday I tried to update to Rescue and Recovery 4.21, but didn't uninstall my previous version. However  when I was trying to install the 4.21 it asked me if I want to replace this file with another and I said yes to all.  When I did try to  uninstall my old version it said installation source not available, try looking for Rescue and Recovery.msi . I tried that but same thing happened, so I deleted those .msi files, and now it says program  program trying to use is on a network that is unavailable. I just want to uninstall it but I cant.
Before I even tried to update it, Rescue and Recovery wouldn't even open. It say the current version of Rescue and Rocovery on my computer is 3.01.1037.00. It also said last used was back in 06 and I know iv used and updated this program before that. Is there a way to uninstall this program without using the add/remove tool?? Is this fixable?

The only chance to perform factory recovery is if you have Lenovo_Recovery partition with several .wim files on that. But it seems they are absent. So contact with Lenovo support in your country and purchase recovery disks.

I have successfully upgraded from Vista 34 bit to Windows 7 64 bit.  All is working smoothly, however, the thinkvantage toolbox tells me to install thinkvantage rescue and recovery.  I have tried to do this from the Lenovo website, however an error mesage tells me I have to install something else first.  Unfortunately, I don't know what it is or where to find it.  Any suggestions?

  • How do I fix Rescue and Recovery?

My SL410 is new as of March 2010.  When Rescue Recovery starts up, it tells me that i need to give it more space.  I do, and then I am in a loop; it asks for more space and when I click OK the same window asking for more space is there.  Where do I go for help?  There is plenty of space on my hard drive and I can't find out who to call or online chat with.  I am running Windows 7 and IE 8 and Office 2007.  Just home use.  Thanks, Nancy

  • How do you uninstall mail and delete associated files?

I just find the mail application annoying and I never use it.  I'd like to clear out any application I dont use to free up space on my hard disk ... How do I do this?

The mail app only takes up a very tiny amount of space - 60.4mb for the application itself.  I don't think it is worth deleting and I would advise against it.  But if you insist..
I haven't tried this myself, but this is what I found while searching:
Drag Mail.app to the trash and delete it.
use AppZapper which will find everything related to Mail.app and delete it too.
got to Home > Library > Preferences and delete the file "com.apple.mail.plist".
Then go to Home > Library and delete the folder called "Mail". That should get rid of the last traces.

  • How do I exit "Rescue and Recovery?"

I feels like a silly question, but I fought this battle before a while ago and can't remember the trick. I've completed a factory reinstall to my T42p - all disks loaded. After the restart if boots back into R&R and for the life of me I can't find a way out to XP.

  • How to start Rescue and Recovery?

How do you start Rescue and Recovery? I used to just press the Lenovo Care button and it came up. But now... there is a Startup Interrupt Menu. When the computer already booted, it won't allow me to start the thing up. All it says is that changing it could be bad and you shouldn't change it.

probably you have changed drive D of the system that is the hidden partition on the hard disk  and is dependant to the lenovo onekey cause this is a part of D partition, and some patitioning and formatting may affect on this hidden partition and it causes to deformes lenovo rescue system.

  • How to install "Rescue and recovery" on a new harddisk (T60)

    My T60 has a 60gb harddisk and I want to upgrade to a 160gb.
I need to know how to install this rescue and recovery on the new disk.
Can some one help me out here
I can imagine for example to create this (hidden) partition with Partition Magic,  but how to continue ?

    Hello,
Have you considered either cloning your old 60GB hard disk drive to the new 160GB model, or using your recovery discs to install a fresh copy of the operating system plus ThinkVantage utilities to the new hard disk drive?

  • My W500 can not install Rescue and Recovery

    Hi guys,
Has anyone encountered the same problem as I did when I tried to install Rescue and Recovery?
The process always stopped with error code 6.
    I am using Win7 X64.
    W500 T9900 8GB + TBs imageries

I was also having the exact same problem on my W500, but I did not have to download the full multilingual package to get it to work.  First I reinstalled windows, and used the "clean all" command before the install.
At the first setup screen during the Windows 7 install hold Shift+F10 - this will bring up the command prompt.  Type in "diskpart" then type "list disk"  then type "select disk 0" This number may be different depending on how many drives your machine has in.  It will then tell you "disk 0 is now the selected disk"  After this type "clean all".  You will see just a flashing cursor in the command window to tell you it is running.  This will take some time, and   WARNING:it will fully erase -write zeroes- to the entire drive.  Your data will be unrecoverable, and ALL PARTITIONS will be deleted.  Once it's finised it will give you a message saying Diskpart succeded in cleaing the disk.  Now the important part, type in "select disk 0" once again, then type "create partition primary"  This will prevent Windows from automaticaly created the 100MB partition on the drive durring the install.  After that type 'exit' and 'exit' again, and you can continue the setup as normal.
Once Windows is up you need to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008  from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=ba9257ca-337f-4b40-8c14-157cfdffee4e&dis...
Once that is installed, restart and it should let you install Rescue and Recovery.
This worked perfectly for me, even though it is a little more complicated.

  • Rescue and Recovery 4.3 on Windows 7 64 bit won't install

    Hi,
I had to reinstall my Windows 7 and when I did that I accidentally wiped away the Recovery partition. I didn't think this would be a problem but now I am trying to install Rescue and Recovery 4.3 on Windows 7 64 bit and I keep getting this error
"Error 25014. There was an error installing the Rescue and Recovery boot manager. Return code: 6"
I am wondering why I am getting this error and how I can install Rescue and Recovery 4.3?

    Hi,
can you also specify, how did you installed Win7?
    Using Recovery CDs? or?
Note, that RnR needs to modify the boot loder of Windows and if the access is blocked, due to permissions, then this situation of course will happen.
However, there is also a second option, on how to get RnR installed and this is using a command line installation which will NOT install the RnR partition.
NOTE: the change in the boot loder is needed only for the creation of this RnR partition.
For more info, please read the following RnR manual:
    http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkvantage_en/rnr43dg.pdf
Feel free to ask any other question.
    Cheers

  • Possible to create a rescue and recovery USB disk?

When you create rescue and recovery media, there's an option showing "USB hard disk drive". However, the target drive list is always empty. How could I get it work? I have plugged my usb-hard disk to my laptop (T400).
BTW, it's possible to create the recovery disk using my usb key?

Probably a good question for ForumNokia. If you mean start up a thread and run in the background while your MIDlet UI does other things, then sure, why not. If you mean that you want to exit your MIDlet, but leave a thread running in the background, then I don't believe you can do this on series 40. S60 is another story since it supports multiple tasks.
