How do you update a Project that is not inside Library?

I have projects on my external hard drive that are independent from my new library. How do I update them so I can use them in my updated Aperture 3 library?

When you export a project Aperture makes it a library. So just double click on the 'project' in the Finder and Aperture will open with this as its current library.

How do you get a subImage that is not a rectangle?

I need to extract a portion of an image that is not rectangular. I know if I convert my image to BufferedImage I can use its getSubImage() to return a rectangular image. However what if I wanted a different shape? I've not found any method that returns a more general shaped image.
All I can think of doing is, say for a triangle, something like this:
       x
     xxx
   xxxxx
xxxxxxxie, a series of getSubImage()s that are one pixel high and a variable length long. Is there any better way to do this? I was hoping for a getPolygon() method.

Hi, there are several ways to do what you want to, but you have to understand that an object of type "Image" or "BufferedImage" is always rectangular. It has "width" and "height" properties which are dimensions of a rectangle. Suppose you have an object shape instance of Shape:
Shape shape = ...;
You have to create an image (rectangular of coarse) in which the pixels out of shape are transparent:
Rectangle rect = shape.getBounds();
int x = rect.x;
int y = rect.y;
int w = rect.width;
int h = rect.height;
BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(w, h, BufferedImage.TYPE_4BYTE_ABGR);
Graphics2D g = bi.createGraphics();
g.setColor(new Color(255, 255, 255, 0));
g.fillRect(0, 0, w, h);
Now you have to fill the shape with the pixels from the source image (original):
g.setClip(shape);
g.drawImage(original, -x, -y, null);
That's all! Note that the image you created has a type BufferedImage.TYPE_4BYTE_ABGR but the source may have any other type. If you have to preserve the type of the original image you have to do something else.

How do you update your server when its not connected to the internet?

This is actually a Windows Update question.
My OS is Windows Server 2008 Standard, Service Pack 2. It is a stand alone system.
Crazy, I know, but I want to keep my server updated with the latest security patches, Software Patches, etc., even though it will soon not be connected to the internet. Right now it is and I am making certain it's completely updated prior to removing
its connection.
How would I do that? I realize that I will have to do what "Window's Update" does, but do it manually.
Please help! I'm new to servers and I will need this to be very much a step by step. Don't be surprised at to what I don't know at this point. I am learning though!

How do you fix the sound that's not working on an iPad mini?

OK so the sound on it does not work. It's turned up all the way but nothing is still coming out. When I plug headphones into it, it works just fine and normal but without it, nothing. I looked up on google at the options of how to fix this and they pretty much all said to just turn it off and then back on. It also said to hold the power button until the swipe to turn off pops up and then to dismiss it. Plus one saying to hold both the home and power buttons down. I turned it off and then back on, as well as the other options but still nothing.
Am I doing these things wrong? Is there any other way that this can be fixed?

Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

Hi All,
OBPM version : 10.3.2 (weblogic Enterprise version)
How can I update the project variables from the External process?
I per my knowledge we use termination wait activity and notify the same from the external process. I am successfully do this but I am facing the performance issue with this and sometimes even data sources pool is getting exhausted.
Could you please tell me is there any other way to update the project variables?

I do not disagree with Mark about using Message Waits to update project variables. I'm right in the middle of logic right now that is doing just that.
If you have thousands (or in your case millions) of instances to update all at once, you might want to also want to consider another approach. I obviously do not know your process and sure you've thought of this, but you could use a database to store this same information that you are currently using project variables for. You'd need a table that has the instance's unique id (e.g. case id, loan number, claim number) as the primary key and then have columns to store the information you are currently storing in project variables.
Taking this approach, you'd be updating the milliions of rows in the database very quickly. You could still have project variables in your process, but they would be set at the beginning of a Screenflow or in an Automatic activity using a SELECT statement against the database table using the unique id of the instance as the key.

How do you update icloud with contacts transferred to Iphone by Verizon? The only contacts that show up in icloud are the ones I entered myself to the phone.

You'll need to copy them to iCloud in order to see them on your PC. To do this, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (they will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup. Use this to backup the remaining contacts on your phone (from Verizon) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself. Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the Verizon contacts back to your phone. They should now be in iCloud, and appear on your PC. You may see duplicate contacts on your phone because you are still viewing both the contacts from Verizon as well as the copies now in iCloud.
Open Contacts on your phone and tap Groups, tap the Groups that were imported from Verizon so they are unchecked and tap Done. This will hide them from view and illiminate the duplicates.

Yes, the linked smart object can be either raster or vector, but they will be placed as raster images, just as the embedded SO are. SO can be embedded or linked to an outside file. Edits to the original will not update in the original until you select "Update modified content from the menu" when you reopen the file that has the place SO in it. otherwise it will update when you save the linked file. Yes, there still is an advantage to having an embedded SO. You may not want to maintain the links - send a file off and forget to include the linked files. You may want to alter the SO, but not the original file.
Ah, thanks. But does this mean that raster and vector smart objects can EITHER be located within the Photoshop file (as they have been since their advent) OR linked to an external file?
And if so,
1. Can this linked file be either raster or vector?
2. Do edits to it automatically update the Photoshop file?
3. Is ther any longer any advantage to having the smart object data stored within the Photoshop file when it can be linked?
