How do you update software on iPad 2 with out computer

Can you update software on ipad 2 with out computer?

Once you have iOS 5+ installed then future updates can be installed wirelessly - but if you are still on iOS 4 or below then you will need to do your next update via your computer

If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

If you have PSE 7 or newer, you'll probably want to use the Smart Brush. There is a good YouTube video on the subject here:

It if you have an older version of Elements, you can use a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to do this task. Reduce Saturation to 0% in the Hue/Saturation dialog, then paint using black paint on the mask to bring back desired color area(s).

My son recently purchased a used ipod touch from Gamestop.  In settings, General, there isn't anything about software updates or the current version.  How can he update this device to work with newer apps?

yep just like niel said. if it is a 2nd gen it cant be updated to later versions of ios. 4.2.1 is the latest. but if it is a 3rd gen 32gb then you can update to ios 5. a 4th gen can update to ios 6.
you need to connect the device to the computer and go from there.

i have the first ipad that came out, and its never been updated. So now i cant purchace any new games cause it says i have to have ios 4 or later. if looked in apple support but it says i can update by going to settings and go to general and it should have a button saying check for updates. but mine dont have that. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME UNDERSTAND HOW TO UPDATE IT THROUGH ITUNES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

You can go to File > About iTunes (assuming you have iTunes for Windows) to see what version you have. You need iTunes 10.5 or later. If you have that, then you should be able to follow the link in my earlier post with no problem. If you have an earlier version, the latest can be downloaded at http://apple.com/itunes/download/

how do i update the software on an iphone 3gs when the software update option is not in the settings on the phone?

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

  • HT201263 How do I update software on ipad

All of a sudden I can't use my bbciplayer app. I need to update the iOS of my iPad. There's no update options in settings so what can I do. Oh and why can't I install adobe flash player either?

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, so you will need to do the next update via your computer's iTunes
To update to the current version of iOS you will need the latest version of iTunes on your computer - you can check if you are up-to-date via, on a PC, 'Help > Check For Updates', and on a Mac 'iTunes > Check For Updates'
When you have that installed, connect the iPad to it and copy any purchases off it via File > Transfer Purchases (you may also want to copy photos off the iPad as well) and then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'. You may also want to copy off the iPad any important documents, notes, files etc e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case.
You can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button.
    Updating to iOS 5+ : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
Flash is not supported on the iPad - and as Adobe have announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

A 1G iPod can go to iOS 2.2 via iTunes and iOS 3.1.3 via

A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. That requires a Mac with OSX 10.5.8 or later. With 1OSX 10.4.11 you can only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1

  • How do you update your original iPad ios

Hi,  I have the original iPad.  For the life of me , i I can't update the iOS.  I was told i can download the  update. But I am unable to do it.  Please help.

What version is on there now? If you have iOS 5.1.1, that's the last version an iPad 1 can run. If you have iOS 4.x or earlier, see the section titled "Update your device using iTunes" in this support article:

  • How do you update software when there are multiple users with different (unknown) apple ID's?

We are a college with different users borrowing 'loaner' Macbooks.
several users with different ID's have installed software that is now tied to that Machines serial number, and cannot be updated or removed apparently. We are trying to update iPhoto for use with iBook author, but it was installed by an unknown user and cannot be removed.

The only practical solution is to wipe and re-provision the units when they're returned.

  • How do you open Garageband for iPad files with Garageband?

I was led to believe that Garageband could open up Garageband For iPad files, but not vice versa.
However when a friend sent me his Garageband For iPad file, and I tried to open it, a "compatibility updater" started running then stopped halfway through and told me Garageband was "unable to complete the download" and directed me to go to Apple help.
    Here I am.
Anybody got any idea how to open (and work on) this file?
    Tank you in advance.
    -Dave-id

Apparently there were a two updaters I had to run first, before letting the compatability updater do it's thing.
And since I got my Garageband for Mac through the APP store I could only do my updating through that.
So if anyone else is having that same problem, update, update, update!

  • How do you update playlists on your iPod with the new iTunes?

With the new iTunes, I can't seem to be able to update playlists on my iPhone device when plugging it in. I can add songs to the playlist and can add songs to my device. However after adding songs to a playlist, I can not update that playlist on my device with the new iTunes. You used to be able to just drag a playlist to the device and update it, but you no longer can. Can someone please tell how to go about updating playlists on devices using the new iTunes.

Do you mean remove them from the iPod or transfer them back to your computer? You can't transfer photo's back to the computer with iTunes. To retrieve photos from an iPod try:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
To remove individual photos from an iPod you delete or remove the photo from the folder that you linked to when you set the preference "synch photos from" and update the iPod. For example, if the iPod is getting the pictures from the folder "My Pictures," delete or remove them from My Pictures.
