How do you upgrade to 2.1 if iTunes thinks 2.0 is the current version?

I've upgraded to iTunes 8.0 and now 8.0.1.11. iTunes keeps saying "This version of the iPhone software (2.0) is the current version." How can I get it to recognize that it is not?

Try doing a restore instead of upgrade. It should get the latest version as part of the restore.

How do you import photos from a library on an external drive to the current library running in iPhoto? I have a few different pictures in each library and would like to have all my pictures in both libraries. The library on the external drive is my backup. I would appreciate any help.

Depends on exactly what you want to do.
Just move some of the Photos? FIle -> Export from one and export the shots to the Finder. Then import them to the other.

The later iOSs requires at least OSX 10.5.8 for the Mac. You need iTunes 10.5 but 10.4.11 only goes to 9.x.. 10.5.8 is a paid upgrade.
Are you sure that you have a 3G iPod? If it is 8 or 16 GB it is a 2G and those can only go to 4.2.1 (also requires 10.5.8 or later). A 32 GB can be either 2G or 3G. To identify yours:

So, the mobileme deadliner is approaching and I need to upgrade my 3GS to iOS 5 and my imac to LION. I've sorted out the iweb histing via another server (phew) and have tried to upgrade to iOS 5 via itunes (10.6.1) but the message I get is that my iphone software is 4.2.1 and is the current version.
Q 1 - how do I get iOS5 on the 3GS?
Q 2 - do I need to load LION on my imac first?

If iTunes will not Update the phone past iOS 4.2.1 that is a sure indication that it is the 3G.
From memory the 3Gs came out in 2010 ...

I can not find the instructions on screen in the iTunes Store to upgrade purchased songs from the DRM files to the iTunes Plus style.

Log into your iTunes Store account and look for an "iTunes Plus" link under the Quick Links:
Click that. If nothing appears, then the iTunes Store doesn't think you have any tracks that are eligible to be upgraded and you may have to buy the tracks again if you want them in the upgraded format, or sign up for ITunes Match which should upgrade all those tracks.

how do you import copyright controlled cds into Itunes?
When i put the cd into my computer, Itunes does not read it like a regular cd. It does not show up in my source list.
I just want to put the songs on the cd onto my ipod.
The cd will play in windows media player and i was able to save the cd as wma files onto my computer, and then i tried to import those files, but Itunes says the file is copyright controlled, and the only way for itunes to import it is with the orignal cd? The original cd was in my D drive the whole time, but it still will not let me import.
I also tried physically looking into the CD for the music files, but those aren't there. The cd is like an enhanced cd where if you look into the drive for files there are no files except for 2 icons. The actual icon the open the player to play the cd and a uninstall icon.
does anyone know how to do this? PLEASE HELP!

I have downloaded the latest version of Itunes. I don't think that is the problem. Music companies have started issuing "copyright controlled" cds now especially on import versions of cds. I have the original cd, but Itunes cannot import it due to the copyright because it is protected. I read the "help" file on the cd, and what it does is you can play it as much as you like, you can make a copy of the cd only 3 times. The copy of the CD is also copyright protected. I have tried Itunes, WMA, Sonicstage, Sonic and etc programs, but nothing has worked.
Hopefully, someone from APPLE will now what I mean about the copyright controlled CDs. I only want to be able to listen to the music on my IPOD. Nothing has worked

Retail Leopard disc looks like this;
(The disc itself has the same logo). If the one you've got is grey it simply won't work.
Given the retail and second hand prices of Leopard (usually some on Amazon MP), you'll probably find it cheaper to go directly to Snow Leopard, although there could be software updates and printer driver problems that could nullify the difference.

Here is some additional information.
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
Once an OS has been installed, the point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.10 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, HardCore Mac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
The discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.
