How do you use download thing onto the macbook?

i was trying to get the new version of quicktime so i could use it on the internet. i could not get anything to work because once downloaded i could not open the program it told me to choose aplication. what should i do? also can i get windows media player on my mac.

I'm really not understanding what you were doing. The MBP comes with the latest version of Quicktime already installed. If there had been an update (which there has not been), you would download it via System Preferences-Software Update.

How do you add downloaded smileys to the emoticon page in the text message

Hi:
I just got a Blackberry Q5 and am still figuring out how to use it. I get how to access the smileys in the emoticon menu of the text message, but I downloaded some new smileys and was wondering if there's an easy way to load them up, instead of existing the text message, loading the downloaded smileys, copying and pasting them, and then returning to the menu. It seems like a lot of effort. Like, what's the point of downloading smiley's if it's this hard to use them.
Does anyone know how? Thanks.

You can set the destination of downloads in your browser's preferences. For example, in Safari, on the menubar, Safari > General tab > Save downloaded files to:
Direct them to a folder (like the downloads folder) and then put a shortcut on the dock.

How do you use an iPhone outside the United States?

I'm going on vacation with my family and I was wondering how can your iPhone 4S with Verizon Wireless to take pictures and listen to music without being charged for roaming if you'll be traveling outside the United States? I have heard that you can your iPhone if you turn on Airplane mode but I am not sure if this is true or do you have to turn off a certain thing on the iPhone?

How do I watch downloaded movies on the macbook?

Hi. I'm a new mac user, and I don't know everything about it yet. I'm wondering how I can watch downloaded movies or tv-shows on my macbook? I usually watch downloaded movies on vlc, but it doesn't work. I just don't get it. Hope someone can help me!

I personally enjoy using DivX for watching movies. It supports a multitude of files.

Depending on the legitimacy of your downloads, certain sites may require you to install specific programs to run a specific file type that they host. If DivX doesn't work for you, then I would look deeper into the website to see if there's any additional software that may be of use to you there.

How do you remove a cd from the macbook air superdrive when it won't eject. all is get is the option to burn a cd when i click eject

Just bought a mini and a dvd superdrive. was uploading pictures and one cd won't eject when I click on the eject icon. It will display that I can burn one if I insert a cd, but won't eject the current cd. How do you override the pop up or manually eject the cd from the superdrive without taking it to a store or asking for a replacement?

You can also eject a disc by restarting your computer and holding down the primary mouse button while the computer is starting up until the disc is ejected.

flash uses your system fonts.
to install fonts in windows - Start > Control panel >
Fonts - File > Install New Font... navigate to
folder with downloaded fonts, they will be recognized and you
will be prompted to install them.
re-start flash.

My brother recently bought an ipod (15GB) i have been fine using my one (20GB) with my itunes on my computer. When i plug my brothers ipod in to my computer and open itunes i expect the music only about (5GB) to transfer to his ipod instead it just says Do not disconnect like usual, but no music is being transfered. Creating a separate Windows User account for each person on your PC will give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one.

Start by dragging the games' applications to the Trash and Empty the Trash. See, also:

Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.

Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

How do you use multiple displays with a MacBook Pro and iMac

I have an iMac and a MacbookPro laptop both upgraded to OS X 10.9 (Mavericks). I'd like to use multiple displays with them. Can I do this without an Apple TV? They are both on the same network. If I can, can someone please give some instructions on how this can be done?

Both computers have ports for external monitors. Check your user manuals. Only one display can be added to the MBP, but newer iMacs have dual Thunderbolt ports.
Do your own Google research to learn what to do, but reading your manuals should be all you really need. It' not rocket science yet.

Cssmill - how do you use it?

Looking at cssmill for the first time, and i'm trying to figure out some things...
1) how would you use cssmill to create the default - out-of-the-box stylesheets? The ones that are deployed after install don't have any 508 styles, but they are generated by cssmill. You would have to edit the template files to exclude these styles.
(edit, i see now that removing the d_ styles is done by the make_508_css task, but its erroring out on my machine)
2) out of the box css has no comments. cssmill includes all comments. run them though a css compressor first?
3) make_portal_css. is this a relic from yesteryear? why would the portal ever use mainstyle-en.css instead of mainstyleX-en.css?
Is it worth trying to make changes to template files or just edit the resulting CSS manually?
I'm thinking this should be my methodology:
1) Create custom color.propertiles file(s) that make sense for my organization
2) Generate css file
3) paste all my custom stuff at the top
I'd really love to get away from using cssmill completely but not sure if its possible.

upon closer inspection, it looks liek the make_508_task is failing (silently) wtih the error: "The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open". this is what removes the comments and d_ lines

I'm testing out a new way to do the stylesheets....let me know if you guys have any ideas or concerns...
so i generate the stylesheets using cssmill...but then i rename them to mainstyleXX-en-orig.css
then I create a custom stylesheet, wtih all of our custom styles (we override a lot of stuff...)
then, i add @import statements at the top of that css class for the orig...
so my stylesheet looks liek this:
@import "mainstyleXX-en-orig.css";
@import "analytics.css";
html { height:100%; }
body { font-family:arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size:12px; line-height:1.4em; color:#333333; margin:0px; padding:0px; height:100%;}
p { margin:1em 0;padding:0; }

a:visited { color:#810081; text-decoration:none; }
a:link:hover { text-decoration:underline;}
a:visited:hover { color:#810081; text-decoration:underline; }
... etc...
This way, when you orerride a style that is in the original stylesheet, you dont' have to modify the orig.css...
