How does 2nd generation mini get better battery life?

Hey all
Just wondering basically if the 1st generation ipod mini can have the battery changed or something so as to give it the claimed 18 hour battery life of the 2nd generation rather than just 8 hours

You can measure and compare battery 'life' by looking at the capacity in mAh. As the Mini battery is 400mAh, you can expect somewhat proportional run-time increases as you get higher capacity.
See: http://pdasmart.com/products/AP39ipodpartscentermini.htm as an example. This is the largest that I have seen, but I'm not really looking at this time. Do a Google search for more like this.

  • Why does my iPad 2 get worse battery life with iOS 7???

This new update has way too much white on the screen even when fully dimmed it seems to use more battery than before. Can there be an update to change that?
And in case anybody asks, NO, my battery has been properly taken care of. Charged perfectly each time. So that's not the issue.

Don't know how much the tips in this article http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/19/ios-7-battery-life-fix/ might help but it's worth a look.

how much does it cost to get the battery changed?

    angelg7user,
To be honest I am not sure. It has not made it into our system yet since none of the players are beyond the -yr warranty anyway. I would imagine (In the US at least) it will be at or around $80 like other similar players, but let me see if I can get some confirmation on that.

  • How does one go about getting the Kit Kat upgrade?

I've searched the Verizon site ad I can't find how to download it.  Must one be selected?

Thanks for your reply.  I went to Settings and About Phone, however, there was a "System updates"  that showed a history and a "Check for new software update" key.  I tried that and it returned with Your phone is up to date.  I guess I'll have to wait for Verizon to send me an update.

created by clydefrog4963 in Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - View the full discussionVerizon has started pushing the 4.4.4 KitKat update on the Note 3, I got mine today. It poppped up when connected to my computer on Kies but you can do it on your phone by going to settings, all the way to "about phone" at the bottom, then click on "software update." Its best to do this while connected to wifi, and make sure your phone is at least half charged. • Does 2012 mac mini get very hot when using logic pro

does 2012 mac mini get very hot when using logic pro

Are you saying that your machine does or is it an enquiry before buying ? I use a 2011 server model - well, it does get hot over a period of time, but I've very rarely heard the fan kick in, its a surprise when it does. As far as I know the casing has been specifically designed to conduct heat, rather than having any fancy grilles and so on, being so small in size. I haven't found it to be cause for concern, if that's any help.

  • My new iPod nano does not get the battery life that is advertised

Help me my iPod nano does not get the battery life that is advertised

Which battery life are you referring to? Apple's website states the iPod Nano 6th Gen will get "up to 24 hours of music playback when fully charged". There are going to be a lot of things that can change that. Are you using the stopwatch or the count down timer a lot? Are you using the FM radio a lot? Any accessories that you are using with the iPod? These will all have an effect on your battery life.

  • Hi. Does using the cover lock help battery life?

Hi. Does using the cover lock help battery life?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Iphone; best practice for better battery life

Okay, I've searched other threads and can't really find anything definitive on all this. I've found my battery life to be disappointing; I can go one and a half days without wi-fi or bluetooth turned on before it turns off.
    1) Is it true that when I press and hold the 'home' key while in an application the application 'quits.' If so, is this more likely to save battery life? Does an application ever really 'quit?' It strikes me that it doesn't.
    2) If move from safari to home without quitting is that safari page still loading, and thus sucking up battery life ?
    3) If I hold the sleep and home keys at the same time I am able to turn off my iphone. What is the advantage of doing this at all? Has anyone experimented with turning the phone off at night? If so, has anyone noticed a better battery life? Is the iphone even meant to be turned off?
    4) Should I be turning off the iphone to charge it once in a while; the other threads I've read seem to indicate no, however, I thought I would open this up again.

I believe you directed this at me: I called them...I do not have an apple store within a reasonable distance. They sent the loaner phone in a box, waived my rental fee. I sync my phone took out the sim card and put it in the loaner phone, syncd the loaner phone and had all my stuff. put my phone in the box, fed ex picked it up the next day. I tracked it on the apple repair site, it said they were running diagnostics that same day and the next the web site said replacement phone sent and it got to me in a brand new nice little apple box like the original, only smaller. None of the accessories were sent in or replaced. Hope that answers your question.
    Good Luck!

  • Graphics: Better battery life / Higher performance

    Is there any advice on the Graphics: Better battery life / Higher performance options in the Energy Saver System Preferences? I’m wondering whether to do this on with astronomy programs Voyager and Starry Night. {So far, attempts to use OpenGL in Starry Night have crashed my machine.}
Or maybe this is all more a gamer thing?
Certainly there does seem to be a noticeable battery hit with Higher Performance on. And it doesn’t seem possible to opt for Higher Performance only when the power cable is plugged in.

It's mostly a gamer thing. If your astronomy apps work OK when you're using the Better Battery Life setting, don't bother opting for Higher Performance.
You're right: you can't opt to use Higher Performance only when the power cable is plugged in, and have the machine switch automatically to Better Battery Life whenever you unplug the adapter. You must log out and back in again to make the switch, whether the machine is plugged in or not.

  • Late 2008 MacBook Pro automatically switches back to "Better battery life"

Lately I've been using my mac for a little gaming (now that there's Steam and Starcraft 2), so I've been using the "Higher performance setting" in the Energy Saver preference pane.
But every once in a while I notice my games have automatically set me settings down. And sure enough, when I check, the setting has reverted to "Better battery life."
I know I'm not setting it back there. Anyone know why it would be reset?
My intuition tells me it has something to do with user switching. I use 2 accounts (1 for work and 1 for home) and will Fast User Switch between the 2 of them.
    Any help is appreciated.

If you turn off IR (security prefs), turn off the keyboard backlight, and keep the screen backlight down you may be able to increase it a bit. Turning off wireless when not in use will of course increase it tremendously.
But if you have calibrated your battery it sounds about right. Just monitor your battery health with iStat Pro or Apple System Profiler.

  • Any iPhone 4S users experienced better battery life after upgrading to iOS 7.1?

    Hello
I am curious to know if any iPhone 4S users experienced better battery life compared to iOS 7.x.x.? That will be great to know before I upgrade and give up my JB .
    Thanks!

diesel vdub wrote: With every iOS update there is an extremely small minority of users (less than 1%) that seem to experience problems and cannot phathom that the issue is not affecting millions and is not widespread.  Apparently when the issue affects you personally it's impossible to accept that millions and millions of users are not experiencing the same problems or accept that the issue is with your device specifically.
Really, that's quite an assertion. I'm sure you can prove those stats; but  my apologies,  I forgot that Apple produces flawless product.
I can only report MY SYMPTOMS: iPhone 4S 32M on VZW, upgrade to iOS 7.0 at the end of February (when security flaw was announced), after which my battery life is about 1/2 what it used to be before the upgrade.
Also, as reported above, when I upgraded to iOS 7.0 my phone would lock (in phone mode); had uncommanded  reboots; and severely degraded battery life.  Two days ago, upgraded to iOS 7.1.  Most screen "touch" issues appear resolved; and uncommanded reboots resolved.
Battery life / duration still poor; still charging every 4-5 hours.
Previously with  normal use (with no location services) could run a full day, about 8 hours before recharge. Now, same situations, I'm having to recharge after 4-5 hours.  Again, no new apps, all apps are current; no different usage.
    What's the resolving fix?
