How does a family member accept family share without iOs8?

I want to add a member of my family to join me in family share.  They have the latest version of itunes on their Windows computer.  They have an iPhone 4 (so can't load ios8).  Is there a way for them to accept so we can start sharing our itu

I do want my daughter to be able to download apps or updates to existing apps even when she is not with me, but that doesn't seem possible without sharing passwords.
That is indeed not possible. She'll either need to re-acquire all those apps through her own iTunes Store account, you'll have to give her the password to your account, or you'll have to do all the updating for her.
Regards.

  • How does a family share an iTunes account without sharing the master password?

Is there any way to avoid having to give my password to my daughter? I have had the same AppleID for many years, and it also my email address, so I would prefer not to share the password with all of my family. As far as I can tell, I can not change my AppleID associated with my iTunes account.

It would be great if iTunes allowed "sub-accounts." Perhaps someday.

  • How does a family share an iCloud Photo Library?

I have a wife and two kids, all with iDevices. We each have our own Apple ID, and we have a fifth Apple ID for the family. I'd like to have all four devices see and contribute to one iCloud Photo Library, preferably using that fifth Apple ID. Can I do this?
As a note, I do this with the iTunes Store, happily. Apple allows you to set the iTunes Apple ID as a different one than the Apple ID used for everything else. I don't see that functionality with the iCloud Photo Library.
We could, perhaps, cobble together some solution using sharing to the family library and whatnot, I guess. That may be the only way, but it seems clunky. I will figure it out if I have to.
    Thanks!
    Danny.

Yes, you can stream or transfer music ripped from CDs to other computers via Home Sharing.

  • How do I Family Share in-app purchases?

How do I Family Share in-app purchases?   The free app only allows certain areas to open. An in-app purchase unlocks the full app capability.  I cannot Family Share the in-app purchase. How do I do this?

There is a way to get around it, as it worked for me!
I turned on family sharing for my son. Now I have set up an Apple ID account for him too. His ipad was under my Apple ID account but I have since restored the ipad to factory settings, setting it up as his own now (you don't need to do this step, but I chose to do it so everything on his ipad is under his account now).
When I logged into the App store on his ipad, using his Apple ID account I can access the apps that I have purchased (I being the main account holder). However I had the same issue as you, that I couldn't family share the in-app purchases.
To get around this on his ipad, I logged off from the app store with his Apple ID account and then logged into it again using my Apple ID account. Therefore I could download the original apps that I had purchased for him + the in-app purchases. Then I logged out of the app store using my Apple ID account and logged in again using his Apple ID Account. Bingo now the full app is on his ipad!
Then I synced his ipad to the itunes library on my PC, so the apps are now in his library. It would be also wise to do a backup so you don't have to repeat this process again.....
    Cheers

  • How does my family stream (not download) content using family sharing

    Hi,
Our family previously used Home Sharing with an iTunes account on an iMac. We could pick up our family iPad and stream a movie from the iTunes shared library. How do I now do this with Family Sharing in ios8? - I can still stream like before as my apple id previously purchased all content, but not my other family members now. I don't want my 7 year old to have to wait hours while the movie they wanted to watch on the iPad downloads on to the device - I just want it to start streaming like it used to .... any help appreciated!
    Thanks

As far as I know, family sharing should not affect home sharing and as long as Apple id is the same on ipad
in settings - videos (for movies) settings music( for music)
and on computer under home sharing - it should still work the same way.
Apologize in advance if I am wrong, I do not use family sharing and reason for that I feel it is a step back, not forward.

  • Is there a way to watch another family members movies through family share without downloading the entire movie?

Before family share my kids were signed in under my apple ID. They had the ability to just stream whatever Disney movies they wanted that we owned. Now they have to download the entire movie to watch it? Seems a bit over kill to me. Plus those movies fill up their entire ipads.

Think of all this as two entities, 1. your Apple ID's and 2. Apple services (and by services I mean iCloud, iTunes, Home Sharing, Messages, FaceTime, Support Communities etc etc).
You can choose to use a different ID for each service, thereby creating the flexibility you are looking for.
For iCloud (which syncs contacts, mail, calendars etc) I suggest you each use your own ID, this means you will have your own contacts etc.
For iTunes, you might use separate ID's or you might both use the same one, I make no suggestion here because there are benefits to both ways. You may want to keep your music, movie, books and app purchases separate or you may want to unite them to avoid potentially paying for things twice.
For Home Sharing I suggest you use just one ID, it doesn't matter who's it is, so long as you both use the same one, this will ensure that any device using home Sharing can see and play the content from anyone's library on the same network (regardless of which ID it uses for iTunes) that is logged into the same home sharing account.

  • How does Walmart Family Mobile affect AT

My husband and I just unlocked our (AT&T) iPhones and were planning on signing up for the Walmart Family Mobile plan. Then I realized my whole family is still on AT&T and I spend the majority of my minutes/data talking/texting them.
So my mom pointed out, how will this affect them? They also have iphones, but as we've used family/friends AT&T plan for years, does anyone know if THEY will get charged for minutes or texts, pictures etc.? They have the most basic data and text plans and something like 500 minutes.
Because we all have iPhones and can use imessage for most things, does anyone know if this would affect them? I wouldn't want them to get charged for calls or incoming texts/pics just because we switched.
FYI, they're considering switching to WFM too, but they still have several months before they can unlock.

  • How can a family share an iPad, specifically, using email? Seperate account

I know, you can have multiple email accounts. i have 3 on my iphone 4. But if my wife, daughter, and I all use the ipad. Can you set up email to ask for what account to load?
Again, i know you can switch after the fact. I am trying to avoid the scenario where I may see my daughter email, or my wife may see mine. Not that we have anything to hide. But if i order flowers or something, i wouldn't want here to inadvertently see the conf email because ipad defaulted to my account.

Perhaps consider setting your family up with Gmail accounts. Gmail (Google's email service, even though you probably already knew that) is totally free and has an awesome web interface, especially on the iPad. Then each member of your family could log in/out of their Gmail accounts using mobile Safari.

  • HT201060 how can i family share a physical cd with my family members rather than loading onto each device individually

I have just purchased another set of CD's from the store and want to load it to my iPhone through iTunes. I also wish for my family members to have access to these albums the same way as if I had purchased it through iTunes. Is this possible or must I load it onto each device individually. The main reason for me asking this is because I have a much larger memory on my phone (and also a much larger music collection) than my family members and it would be much easier to share my music this way rather than them constantly having to rip/delete their music to listen to new CD's (due to their limited memory constraints).
    Thanks for the help,
    Kyle

iPhoto shows you these Titles but the Finder shows you Filenames
If you export (File -> Export) you'll get the Export dialogue. Note the option at FileName to use the Title as filename for the exported photo

No. You can use alternative sharing sites like Flickr etc.

Photostream is an alternative way to import Photos from Phones etc. It make be of little relevance in your situation.

  • Can you use family share without sharing payment?

My wife and I purchase items separately with our individual apple ID's. Is there a way that we can both use family sharing but not use my payment info? We have no kids but have separate spending accounts that we like to keep separate.
    Thanks.
    -Brian

There are some arrangements which would benefit from sharing whilst two family members continuing to have a separate payment option. I'm trying to search for that solution. I would like to share purchases with my wife that she is interested in and visa versa but I only want to pay for things that I'm interested in. If there is some album that I really like and she doesn't then we want it set up that I could pay for that alone rather than through a shared family account. Even with that we would still appreciate sharing each others apps and music when it's something we would like to have on our devices and shared mac.
When you've switched to family sharing and family members choose to pay with a second payment method other than the shared credit account?
