How does "High Dynamic Range" Photos work?

I see that I'm getting two photos from each shot. I suppose that's because I tabbed "on" the selection to keep the regular photo.
What's going on with "High Dynamic Range" photos and how can I tell which photo is the regular photo and which is the HDR Photo?
Also, is that something new with iOS 8?

You're welcome. Here's the HDR from the IOS 7 User Guide.
“HDR
HDR (high dynamic range) helps you get great shots, even in high-contrast situations. The best parts of three quick shots, taken at different exposures (long, normal, and short), are blended together into a single photo.
Use HDR. (iSight camera on iPad 3rd generation or later) Tap HDR. For best results, keep both iPad and the subject still.
Keep the normal photo in addition to the HDR version. Go to Settings > Photos and Camera.
HDR versions of photos in your Camera Roll are marked with “HDR” in the corner.”

Like any HDR photos - you start by photographing multiple exposures and then use Merge to HDR.

  • How does high rate data aquisition work?

hi, i'm interested in understanding how data can be remotely communicated at high rates as required in impact measurements.

    Hi vichu,
Have you considered using a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)?  From what I understand, a WSN is made up of components that combine a transducer, an A-to-D Converter (ADC), and a wireless transceiver to send the data back to a central location.  Although National Instruments does not make a wireless network, I know that LabVIEW can easily integrate with several of them, usually through database or VISA communication.  WSNs can also be used in parallel with NI hardware, such as FieldPoint or PXI.  I can't really give you any detailed specifications on a WSN system, but it sounds like something like that might work for your application.  At the very least, it's a starting point worth looking into.

I live in the country and there is no High speed available, How does Firefox for desk top work with Dial up ??? I have a great dell computer, Dimention 8400. Before I install firefox I want to know for no waste of time for either party..

Unless you enabled Find My iPad on it before it was stolen then there isn't any way to locate it. If you did enable it then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPad disabled on it.
If it was stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.
If it was never registered to your account then it won't appear on your support profile : https://supportprofile.apple.com/
The only other ways to find it that I know of (apart from on the actual device) are via the packaging, the backup on a computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4061

  • How to create high dynamic range image in Photoshop Elements 2.0?

I wonder if it is possible to Photoshop Elements 2.0. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are talking about the idea of merging exposures IN ELEMENTS 2 and you are shooting RAW, you can do what Barbara suggests: Open the file once with favorable settings for the bright parts of the image and a second time for the shadows and merge. In Elements 2, the images will not open in 16-bit, and will be converted immediately to 8-bit. You will find that registration is right on, but there will be issues with the process if you want to retain higher bit counts (which to me is really the only way to have higher dynamic range in reality). I don't know where these started to be called 'high-dynamic range', and I think it is really a bit of a misnomer--especially in 8-bit. Even Elements 5 will not support 16-bit images with layers, so the opportunity to get true accentuation of dynamic range is...limited.

  • High Dynamic Range

First, a disclaimer. After 23 years of PC use, I converted to Mac only two months ago (why didn't I do this years ago???). I am a photojournalist and am now heavily into using Aperture, which I L-O-V-E. What I'm trying to say here is that I'm a newbie!
Question: Is there a way to combine 3 bracketed images to create one High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo within Aperture? If not, is there a software add-on or plug-in that I can buy for Aperture to accomplish this? I also use Photoshop Elements 4.0 for Mac as my External Editor, so do I need to use something for PSE to accomplsih this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't think it was too hard, but I don't know how others would find it. I think you can download it and use it unregistered with a watermark to test it.
Basically, you export your 3 (or more) images from Aperture using 16 bit tiff. Then drag them into Photomatix. You can then have about 5 different ways to convert an image, but there is only one that I really bother with most of the time. I have it generate an HDR file from the 3 tiffs, and then use "details enhancer" under "tone mapping". You'll have a few sliders to play with to get it how you want.
Here is my favorite I've made, I used 5 exposures (-2,-1,0,1,2)

  • How does the LCM rollback feature work in theory?

    Hi
How does the LCM rollback feature work in theory?
    Let's say
    1. I've Webi report 'x' in QA system
    2. I promote a modified version of webi report 'x' from DEV to QA using LCM. So now I've 'x1' in QA.
    3. I "rollback" this promotion job in LCM. Which means I've get back 'x' in QA system.
So does this mean that LCM kept a "backup" copy of 'x' in QA (CMS+filestore file backup) before overwriting with the promoted 'x1' from DEV?
If yes, does it clear the 'x' anytime from QA? (maybe after second iteration of 'x2'?)
    Thanks

  • HT4221 How does the Ipad5 sort photos synced from a computer

How does the Ipad5 sort photos synced from a laptop?

    Hi Nancy 2803,
I am guessing you want to sync photos from your iPhone 5S to a Laptop i.e. a Windows Laptop.
Firstly when you insert your iPhone into your computer, go to:
    1.     Computer
    2.     Wait for the Laptop to recognize the iPhone
    3.     Right Click on your iPhone Named: [NAME iPhone] or something simular
    4.     Click import pictures and videos
    5.     Click import settings
    6.     Click Folder Name
This folder name is how the images will be arranged, either:
    a) Date imported and Tag
    b) Date Taken and Tag
    c) Tag and Date imported
    d) Tag and Date taken
    e) Tag and Data Taken Range
    f) Tag
I use Date Taken and Tag as this allows me to see in my pictures library a date and the images taken that date, i.e. all the images taken on the 25/12/2013, if you use date imported, you just get all your images stored in one folder and cannot quickly find images on a date.
In this setting you can also change the folder to where the images/videos will be saved, the name of the images as well as options such as delete images from the device once imported.
Many Thanks, Happy New Year and I cannot wait to hear from you again in regards to this issue.

  • How does SMB 3 Multipath actualy work?

First of all, sorry if there is a better form to post this in, I didn't see a general networking or SMB forum.
I've been trying to find anything about how SMB 3 Multipath actually works at a networking level (OSI Layer 2, Layer 3). I can't find anything that actually talks about how it achieves multipathing once it's out of its exit interface. Even how it actually chooses
potential exit interfaces is still a mystery to me.
How does the MAC address forwarding work? Does it somehow dynamically learn the available MACs on the destination and split the load between them? If that's the case does it work over layer 3 subnets if there are two available routes? How does it learn about
multiple available paths and actually get the network equipment to use them? In other words if Server A and B have 4 NICs they have 4 MAC addresses or more, one or more IP addresses, teamed or not teamed. Layer 2 adjacency vs Layer 3. There are a lot of variables
that it has to work with. Is DNS involved at all? If my connection attempt is the server.domain.local DNS might have more than one IP address that server is reachable from but if I connect to 192.168.1.1 then I'm specifying an IP and DNS doesn't come into
play, does that affect SMB 3 Multipath?
I know SMB 3 works when in a team and not in a team, I've tried it. But if it is in an LACP team then once it leaves the server NIC it's up to the switch to forward that to the destination based on the hash, for a single flow in normal situations the switch
would pick the same interface but I get increased bandwidth so I know the switch is sending to both interfaces, so I assume there are multiple flows. That means something about the flows has to be different, I assume the destination MACs, but I haven't put
    a packet capture to look...yet...
Does anyone know of any papers or details that talk about these issues they can point me to? Every blog post or video I've seen is super generic about how it actually works. It's not magic.

    Hi,
With Multichannel, SMB will create multiple TCP/IP connections for that single session (at least one per interface or more if they are RSS-capable). This allows SMB to use
the combined NIC bandwidth available and makes it possible for the SMB client to continue to work uninterrupted if a NIC fails.
Although a team always provides fault tolerance, SMB without Multichannel will create only one TCP/IP connection per team, leading to limitations in both the number of CPU
cores engaged and the use of the full team bandwidth.

    Dear all,
I have one question: how does the DAQmx read.vi work in producer/consumer mode ?
I mean if i set the acquisition samples quantity is 5000,(see the enclosed picture), how does the DAQmx read.vi acquire the samples ?
    5000 samples one time ?
And how does the write. vi work ? Also 5000 samples one time ?
    Look forward to your reply.

It will read 5000 samples per channel.
The Write Measurement File just writes whatever you give it.  It you send it 5000 data points, it will write the 5000 data points.

  • How does the Mac App Store work?!

Hey guys i recently posted this quesiton in a different area of the community but instead of being helped was just ridiculed for posting in the wrong place... +1 for helpfulness guys :/ lol Anyways... ive been told to ask in the development section.. I have a $9.99 app and it was sitting at 10th place in the top grossing apps a few weeks ago on the UK app store, now I noticed in the morning that it was ahead of an app which was 49.99 so i presumed that I must have sold at least 5 or 6 to be ahead of him (my idea of top grossing is quantity x price) but when itunesconnect released their reports in the afternoon it turned out that i'd only sold 1 copy.. so what im asking is basically how does the top grossing section work? and how regularly does it update? is it live? daily? etc
    Thanks in advance!

Your rank is better than the other app because you've made a sale while they've made none. When you make a sale, you jump in the charts, and after that you slowly go down if you don't make another sale. In other words, the bottom of the charts has many apps that didn't make any sale recently. I've also noticed that if you make some sales in other countries than the current chart, that'll very slightly improve your rank.

  • How does iPhoto organises the photos?

    Dear fellow Mac users,
how are you! Tonight, my parents had a lot of fun taking photos of them using Photo Booth... awww. those love birds haha.. and i made a music slideshows for them. (too bad i dont know how to burn it into a VCD for them to watch on TV). I dont have a DVD RW.
    My question is
    1. How does Iphoto organises the photos? It seems like there are many dublicate copy of the same photo.... i am kind of confused. (There is .. Original Folder and Modified Folder) and worried that it will eat up my disk space
    2. Is it possible for me to burn a slide show VCD?
    Thank you soooo much!
    moses

    StanB:
As PhillyPhan warned, you don't need to use the Finder to locate an image file for use outside iPhoto. You can either drag the thumbnail to the desktop to get a copy of it or use the File->Export->File Export menu route to export the file to the desktop. The second option allows you to resize it if desired. So there's no need to go rummaging around in the iPhoto Library folder to find a file.

  • How does one resize a photo to the dimensions required by a contest?

How does one resize a photo in aperture to the dimensions required by contest?

Are you submitting a print or a file?
You set the size of your print in the print dialog.
You set the number of pixels (the unit of linear measurement of digital images is the pixel) for a file when you create that file by exporting an Image from your Library. You can specify a recommended number of Pixels per Inch by using the (mis-named) DPI field in the Image Export Preset you use when you export.
The files you import have a height and width in pixels.  Height/width = the Aspect Ratio.  You can crop to any aspect ratio using Aperture's Crop tool.
What are the specs required by the contest's sponsors?
Message was edited by: Kirby Krieger -- added aspect ratio and cropping.
