How does ISE count concurrent users ?

Ciao,
trying to make sense of ISE concurrent users licensing, does it count a user only when it's connected ?
If I have 500 users Active Directory (using groups in policy) or 500 users in local database, are there differences in count ?
Regards,
Iarno

Hello,
Active Directory and local DB users are not counted separately. The  count is on the basis of number of user and non-user endpoints  connected. They can be Printers, IP Phones, labtops, iphones and android  phones etc.
A High Level Design (HLD) is a document which is required to be  submitted by ATP and non-ATP partners of ISE at the time or before they  place an order for ISE products except lab and wireless only orders. HLD  should be written by an ISE Trained Engineer.
Reason behind getting a HLD submitted by the partners is to make sure  the ISE is deployed properly as it is supposed to be. There is a SAC BU  approved template of HLD which needs to be filled and sent to  [email protected], where a dedicated team review that particular HLD  and approves if they find all the information correct in the document.
Best Regards.

  • How does ISE choose which IP to put in URL redirect response?

    Hello,
does anyone know how does ISE choose which IP to put in URL redirect response if it has more than one interface with an IP address and all interfaces are enabled in the portal configuration?
I have a single ISE 1.3 PSN with all four interfaces configured, enabled, each on unique VLAN, and each with unique IP address.
In the CWA portal configuration, all four interfaces are enabled.
Wired clients connect to NAD, NAD sends RADIUS request to ISE, ISE responds with a RADIUS response including the URL-Redirect parameter which specifies the web redirect URL. ISE configuration uses "ip:port" in the URL.
My question is how does ISE choose which of its four interfaces to put in this URL? Is it always the same interface that RADIUS packets were received on? Or does it always choose the first portal enabled interface? Or is there another logic? Configurable or unconfigurable?
    Thanks!

ISE uses the first interface enabled for that portal, so if want to use a specific interface, then only enable that interface.  If interface is GE0, then default behavior is to redirect with ip value set to node's FQDN.  If interface other than GE0, then default behavior is to return the IP address of the associated interface.
Aliases can be configured for each interface using the CLI 'ip host' command to associate a hostname/FQDN to the IP address of a given interface.  When configured, ISE will return that value rather than IP address in redirect.  This is critical if want to avoid certificate trust warning on connecting clients.
Be sure that certificate assigned to interface includes the correct FQDN or optionally wilcard value in the CN or SAN fields to avoid cert warnings.

  • How to find the concurrent user licenses usuage

    Hi,
Can you someone tell me how to find the concurrent user licenses usage. if i go to CM C -> Settings -> View Global System Metrics then it is showing strange number in the area of peak licenses used since deployment  (more than 5K),
Is there is any Bug or how to refer this?
    We are using BI4.0 SP5

    Hello Satheesh,
Its is possible to track concurrent user licenses usage by using BI 4 monitoring.

  • How to Handle the Concurrent User Operation in JDBC

Here I am updating a table base on flag field. Here I am facing concurrent user problem. Please anybody can tell me how to handle this. If anybody update a row. it should be reflect to other sessions

Make sure you are calling Connection.commit() after your update. If you are still having problems, you may need to tweak the isolation level. Different vendors have different default settings.
You could add more details to your post, like database you are using, and the errors you are seeing.

  • How does cycle count recommendation works.

I setup my cycle count codes as well as assigning them to the item master, when I run cycle count recommendations there are lots of items need to be counted. Here are my questions
    1.     Where do I go to enter the new counts?
    2.     When I enter the count do I enter the difference or what I counted?
    3.     When Do I flag the items counted on cycle count recommendation screen?
    4.     When I am doing cycle counting some transactions could take place at the same time how does system takes care of that so I do not over count or under count?
    5.     Can I get a report of all items which I flagged as counted regardless of qty on hand or not? I need this data for cycle count analysis.
I have the documentation from SAP but I cannot see these steps.
    Thank You

Your question is too long. One question for one thread. This is forum rule. Although it can still belong to one big question, it is better spitted to more.
    For first 2 questions:
    1. Where do I go to enter the new counts?
Go to: Inventory -> Inventory Transactions -> Initial Quantities, Inventory Tracking & Inventory Posting
    2. When I enter the count do I enter the difference or what I counted?
    Enter what your counted.
    Thanks,

  • How to Find Peak Concurrent Users in weblogic

    Hi
If anyone can help. I have very simple questions regarding application monitoring. I need to write a program to get the following parameters.
    Heartbeat Successful Logins
    Heartbeat Login Failures
    Average CPU Utilization
    Average Concurrent Users
    Peak Concurrent Users
Average Response Time (Best 10% and Worst 10%)
I thought of getting all this information from Runtime MBeans, but MBeans properties are much more granular and gives me statistics about services (JDBC/JMS/JTA) and components (EJB/Servlets).
I have no access any Application monitoring tools ( HP OpenView/ IBM Tivoli / SiteScope / Topaz etc ) . I don’t have time to write sophisticated SNMP traps and agents.
Is there any easy way to find out the fowling parameters .
    Heartbeat Successful Logins
    Heartbeat Login Failures
    Average CPU Utilization
    Average Concurrent Users
    Peak Concurrent Users
Average Response Time (Best 10% and Worst 10%)
It may be possible to write a Proxy Servlet and gather all this matrices, but in that case I don’t know what should be the code or which weblogic API I can utilize.
Please help , Thanking you in advance

  • How does one create a user with a null password in iManager?

I'm setting up LDAP authentication and need to create a user with a null password.
If you do not put a password in the password field when creating the user in iManager, a message pops up stating, No password has been defined for this user.
You are given a choice of:
Allow user to log in without a password
    - or -
Do not allow user to log in without a password
If you choose Do not allow user to log in without a password, there are no complaints.
When I look at the properties of the newly-created user, however, I note that the "Require a password" checkbox is not filled in.
That would imply that the answer to the question posed during the user's creation is moot; either answer produces a user that can log in without a password.
I can then assign the Common Proxy password policy to the user, which does not dictate a minimum length for a password.
From that point forward, any attempts to leave the password field blank in iManager results in another pop-up message stating:
"Failure to enter a password will allow the user to login without a password."
That implies that no password exists for the user, as opposed to a null password.
Is that correct or are the public and private key for the user object still generated?

If you do not specify a password, which is what happens when you select
the 'Do not allow user to log in without a password' option initially, the
user cannot login. A user with no password (meaning no password exists at
all, similar to a 'null' in programming) cannot login with a password
because, of course, they do not have a password.
If you specify a zero-length string as the password you are effectively
(and usually) creating a proxy user, for example to be used for the LDAP
service in eDirectory, and this user can login typing in a password (since
typing would imply one or more characters) but nevertheless there IS a
password, but it happens that it is zero-length, so typing nothing for the
password IS submitting the correct password. This is the option carried
out by eDirectory when you choose, 'Allow user to log in without a
password' (the prompt is a little misleading with its "without a password"
    phrase).
Once you assign a UP policy you are telling the system that there SHOULD
be a password on the user (and with common proxy there definitely should
be, probably a strong one at that) so the only option now is whether or
not the password is zero-length or longer. Obviously longer is the
    correct option for security reasons.
    Good luck.

  • How does one assign a user to several groups?

I am a student learning Databases, Oracle to be exact, and am trying to install a developer's copy on my MAC G4 running OS X 10.4.11. To do this I need to assign user oracle to several user groups. Trouble is, although I know UNIX fairly well I don't know Sys Adim commands well at all. Can am one help with this one?

Thank you for your posting, however I did try this before I posted here, can assign a user to one (1) group, but can not figure out how to assign a user to more than one (1+) group. That is the root cause of my problem. Do you know how to assign more than one group? Again thank you for your input.

  • How does your company handle user pwd changes?

I would like to know how other companies handle user password changes with Sun One Portal Server 6.0. Do you have an option in the portal server window itself or do you direct users to a page on the directory server?

    Just a little note
When you login into the portal server, you actually login to the Identity server (DSAME), and have a DSAME session, and when you logout from either amconsole or portal window you logout from the DSAME. The portal server uses Identity server for authentication purpose (if you see the login page you will notice the login action url is "/amserver/login" and the logout url is "/amserver/logout").

  • How does just 6% of users translate into "Overwhelming Success" of CC???

Need to chuckle for a minute.
In the spin, Adobe attempts to paint CC move in a positive light, here:
    http://www.informationweek.com/cloud-computing/software/adobe-kills-boxed-version-of-creat ive-su/240154269
""We launched Creative Cloud a year ago and it has been a runaway success," said David Wadhwani, Adobe SVP and general manager of Digital Media"
Hmmm... runaway success?  Let's move on to what almost sounded like a paid advertisement in CNET:
    http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-57583370-92/how-greedy-is-adobes-creative-cloud-subscript ion-not-very/
The author includes this nugget: "Adobe said it's got an installed base of 8.4 million customers using CS suites and 4.4 million using point products. For the Creative Cloud subscriptions, the number is 479,000 for the end of the first quarter and Adobe projects an increase to 1.25 million by the end of 2013."  In his zeal to support Adobe, he fails to even think about what he is writing.
So... a 6% transition over 1 year is considered a runaway success?  Or is it a 3.7% transition?  Is the 479K the number signed up for the FULL monty?  479K out of 8.4 million?  Or is it 479K out of 12.8 million COMBINED CS and individual product users?
And, I wonder how many of those folks would've TRIED this program if they knew that their actions were going to be used a evidence of support to what is now (in it's current form) a LIFETIME financial committment?
Adobe gets 39,000 per month to sign up in the first year... and they realistically think this is going to DOUBLE now that they've made this announcment?  They don't even have any idea what the renewal rate is going to be after the first year... it's barely 1 year old!  What if people were thinking that they'd try it, not knowing that there was no going back?  I've got to believe some of them are having buyers remorse, knowing that they contributed to this mess!
I think Adobe and it's devotees are missing the point.  It's not about the cost per year, or the cost per revision cycle.  And it is not about some imagined insatiable need to have the updates the minute they are released!  It's about the mandated lifetime committment to Adobe.

It's the oldest marketing trick there is.
And they think we are so stupid that we just go for it, because others already signed in.
I also wonder when the "Discount Introduction Price Time" is over how many people will be still so enthusiastic!
