How does iTunes match handle music that isn't available in iTunes?

Music in your iTunes library that isn't available at the iTunes Store is uploaded to your iCloud account.

  • HT201269 My PC crashed. iTunes was on it and now all files are gone. All music does exist on iPad. How do I get the music that had been downloaded from iTunes and copied from my CDs onto new PC from iPad. Would rather not use cloud.

PC crashed. iTunes was on it and now all files are gone. All music both purchased  and copied from CDs is on iPad. How do I get the music back onto the PC without using the cloud. Afraid if sync will wipe all music from iPad.

You would need to download iTunes on comp and download purchases again (you don't have to pay again) and upload your CDs again IF you sync your iPad to your computer it will erase everything

  • HT204411 Is there a way that I can contact Itunes to request new music that isn't available in Australia?

There is a band in the UK that i like but their songs aren't on iTunes Australia. Does anyone know if i can send a request to iTunes to ask if ey can make the songs available to downlaod???

It should have an option to manage iTunes library without network connection, like Bluetooth or connect directly to the computer without a router or wi-fi, i live outsite of the city and i dont have the ability to control my iTunes librry from the iphone

  • HT204411 Why is there so much music that isn't available in Australia?

There are a bunch of Korean songs that I want to download but aren't available in Australia. They are available in the U.S., Korea and other countries so I dont understand why they wouldnt be made available to Australia as well

Content is only available where the content providers grant Apple licenses to sell them. You can try requesting that they be added to Australian store, but ultimately it will be the record company that will have to grant Apple a license to sell them there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Where is my missing music that I had uploaded to iTunes?

I uploaded music over the years, and after an iTunes update, my music that was not purchased through iTunes, is gone. Can it be recovered? How do I recover it, if it can be recovered?

  • I have music on iPod touch that isn't listed in iTunes, can't seem to "manage" the content

Sheesh. I know it's supposed to be simple & intuitive, but I can't quite figure some things out.  Now, I may have reloaded iTunes since I had to rebuild my PC.  Fortunately, my library of music - mainly from CDs - was saved on a backup.
    1.  I have some music that isn't quite listed in iTunes
Creedence Clearwater Revival album Chronicle Volume 1 also shows up as Chronicle, Vol.1 on the iPod
but it shows up only as Chronicle, Vol. 1  in my Music Library.  How did it duplicate itself and how do I get rid of the duplicates?
note that these duplicates do not appear in iTunes, so clicking on Display Duplicates does not find them.
    2.  I cannot remove the rogue versions of songs either directly from the iPod or from iTunes
    3.  I cannot adjust the columns or sort order when viewing my iPod's Music in iTunes
    4.  Sync is not checked for any of the categories in iTunes
if I check the Sync box for music, it states it will wipe out my music and replace it with my library.  My whole library won't fit on my 8 GB iPod.  How do I pick and choose what goes to the iPod.  Do I really need to wipe out the contents of my iPod first?
    5.  Last question - Can I assign the album art that was ripped from my CDs to the albums/songs imported from My Music in Windows to iTunes?
So I'm a bit frustrated but very open to solutions.  My iPod touch is maxed out and I want to adjust what content - pictures, apps, music & playlists only - gets loaded on the iPod.
    Help!  Help! Thanks!!

    - From your description you did something to iTunes on the computer such that the iPod sees ythe iTunes library as a new library.  That is why you are getting the message about erasing when you try to sync.  Yu can, as you are doing, managing music with the computer since you can do that among different conputer.  See:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
    - If all music, apps, sysnced photos are on the computer you  need to:
--- Make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecing Backup and then restore the iPod from that backup.
    - You can transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - You can transfer non-iTunes purchaed music by using one of the third-party programs discussed here. Some of those may also do synced photos.

  • I bought and downloaded some music off of the internet on my laptop that uses Windows 8. How can I get my music to open automatically in my itunes instead of opening in the music app?

I bought and downloaded some music off of the internet on my laptop that uses Windows 8. How can I get my music to open automatically in my itunes instead of opening in the music app (the orange sqaure with headphones)? Currently I have had to often downloads and sift through all my files to find the ones I want to open into itunes, and it's irritating.

Media is only where the user puts it.
Installing iTunes does not and has never caused media to magically appear on the computer.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer (or backup of the old computer) to the new computer.

  • How do I find music that has been uploaded to iTunes from a purchased CD and iTunes is "unable to find the original file?" I no longer have the CD. I have tried all the usual methods of looking in my iTunes library and through Find. No Luck.

    Backup drive?

If neither of the above and you don't have the CD and can't find your tracks on the computer then they you're stuck.  A file recovery utility will cost $100, plus another $100 for an external drive to which to resue the files, and may not even work.  You can buy a lot of CDs for $200.

  • When I disconnect my iphone 3gs(iOS) from computer, the device disappears from my itunes. This prevents me from doing a wireless sync. how do i fix it so that my device stays on itunes without having to plug it in all the time?

When I disconnect my iphone 3gs(iOS) from computer, the device disappears from my itunes. This prevents me from doing a wireless sync. how do i fix it so that my device stays on itunes without having to plug it in all the time?
it worked the first few times i did it but the next day after i closed out of itunes once, the device only appears when i plug in my phone.

Whenever a menu choice is grayed out, that is because you have Restrictions turned on in Settings.  Be sure to turn it off.
You are confusing an itunes store account with an icloud account.  You two can continue using the same ID for itunes (thus sharing purchased music, apps, etc.), but you really should have separate accounts (different IDs) for icloud, since an account is intended for one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
To create a new icloud account, go to
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Then go to Settings>icloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete Account.  (have restrictions turned off)  That will disconnect the device from the account but will not delete data in icloud or other devices.  Then sign in using the new ID.

Did iTunes match complete its scan of your iTunes library on your computer? Do you have a back up on an ext HD?

  • HT4914 My music is stored on an external hard drive. All music that I buy, whether from itunes or some other provider, automatically gets loaded onto my external drive. There is some music on my computer drive as well. Will match work in this circumstance

My music is stored on an external hard drive. All music that I buy, whether from itunes or some other provider, automatically gets loaded onto my external drive. There is some music on my computer drive as well. Will match work in this circumstance?

I followed all the instructions for consolidating my music into one folder on my external hard drive. (I'm struggling with this because my ext HD was renamed when I synched my iPod shuffle last night. The "E:" drive has now become the "F:" drive and all my songs have those dreaded exclamation points next to them. Exploring my computer, I found "My music" folders in two place on my C: drive and one place on my external hard drive... and the song list in each place is different.
    Argh.
So... following the directions in the article reference here, I attempted to consolidate all of my songs into one folder on my external hard drive.
But.. I checked the song list when the "consolidation" was complete... and MANY songs are missing. They're still on the C: drive, but don't appear to have been copied to the new folder on the ext HD.
    I would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks so much!
Edit: I tried to reassign the ext. HD a permanent letter, but my Control panel does not appear to offer the option of Administrative tools. Is there an easy way to get to this, as this seems to be the root of the problem?
    Thanks.

    Thank you for any assistance.

Tigon's already got you covered here. But I'll chime in with some English localisation advice.
There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • Why does iTunes Match download songs that I skip?

I haven't seen this question posted yet, but feel free to direct me to any pertinent posts.
I've been using iTunes Match for the last couple days, and all in all I really enjoy the service. There is one issue that I've yet to see addressed on these boards yet though; why is iTunes Match downloading songs that I skip? I listen to all my music in random, so occasionally there will be a song I just don't want to hear at the moment. I assumed that if I don't listen to a song completely that it would not be downloaded to my device. Not true apparently. I was able to use about half a gig of data in a few hours just by skipping songs. Every song that was skipped, even if I didn't hear a single second of it, was downloaded (at an average size of 5-8 MB). I sincerely hope this is just a bug and not a 'feature'.
Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I have noticed this too. I filled up my phone VERY fast yesterday.
and deleting is not easy, lots of left swipe DELETE action, took a while.
