How does Max Find Remote Systems

How does MAX find remote systems?
I have written a UDP chriper as a way to solve this problem in the past, however, it seems that NI has allready solved this problem and I'd rather use what comes in the box.
Existing APIs or documentation would be great.

There is a Find Systems VI on the Real-Time / RT Utilities / System Configuration palette that can find some things (like PXIs) on the network.

How does TM find remote backup servers?

I have an OSX10.5.3 server that wired users can see as a Time Machine backup server. This works.
Wifi users (who are bridged onto the same wired network) can not see any remote Time Machine drives to backup to. Looks like the wifi controller (Cisco WLC) isn't forwarding some packets to the wired network.

MAX does not show Remote System tab in tree

Hi dear all,
i have installed LabView 2010 and along that MAX 4.7.7 on my Laptop Visat OS. Problem that i am facing is that my MAX tree "Remote System" Tab is not visible. Only My System tab is visible and its showing all installed software and devices correctly.
1. What settings i need to check to get this tab shown in tree?
2. Do i need to install some other software or patches or re-install what softwares?
3. Why is it happening to me?

Hello Awais,
There are a few places that indicate the Real-Time Module has been succesfully installed. I am attaching screenshots of the following locations that indicate that this is the case:
-'Remote Systems' under Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)
-NI License Manager
-LabVIEW splash screen
If the Real-Time module/option appears in the locations listed above, there should be no reason for you to have to uninstall or re-install your software. If there are other indicators such as error messages or the module does not appear in these locations, please attach screenshots and a detailed description. We can then discuss if uninstalling or reinstalling the software is the next best option.

You can also use the shape tool to draw a shape roughly following the outline of the graphic you want to wrap text around, change the fill and stroke to "none", then paste your text within the shape. It's a few more steps, but it opens you up to many creative alternative layouts.

How does Tree Finder creates the BPEL flow tree - using ORABPEL schema

I want to understand how does Tree Finder option on BPEL console gets the BPEL flow tree displayed ? How does the references to further BPEL processe instances get stored w.r.t the current BPEL process instance ? Which tables in ORABPEL schema are involved or store such references ?
Basically, I wish to get a similar tree given a BPEL instance id in my code. Pls help.

You can test this from TA RSRT -> Execute and debug -> Display aggregate found.

VISA does not recognize remote system in MAX

I've been trying to setup instrument cards in a PXIe chassis, and I am having trouble getting VISA to recognize them. From reading some of the other posts related to VISA Resource Names, I found that you should be able to drag and drop devices from NI MAX into a Labview Block Diagram, and it will automatically create a VISA Resource Control for the device. I am able to do this for devices installed on "My System" (COM1 for example), but when I try to do it from "Remote System", is just drops the name in a text block. If I try to create a VISA Resource Control directly, the drop-down only shows the devices on My System. I've even tried to switch the VISA class for the control. Still can't get VISA to recognize the remote devices. Please Advise.

What is VNC in Sharing and how does someone login remotely?

How does someone from a remote PC login and gain access to a Mac with remote desktop with VNC without turning remote sharing on? So they can see what I see and can control my mouse from a PC?

without turning on screen sharing and with the remote user working from a windows pc, there is no way built into os x to do this. however if the remote user is using a mac you can use ichat's screen sharing feature.
otherwise, you can turn on screen sharing, find your ip address (google 'what is my ip address'), ensure the ports are open on your router and enable vnc users by entering a password in the advanced dialog.

My uncle is gonna send me some HP Touchsmart IQ526Ts with product number NE481AV. How do I find the complete system specs?
Please don't suggest using something like speccy or other programs like that. I want to do it on the HP website, and apparently I can't email them b/c warranty is out.

How do I patch remote system?

I have a proxy(patchsvr) system to allow me to download and patch remote systems. They can access the system fine but I want to push patches out to these system and I am unable to do so. What am I missing on this setup?
smpatch analyze -n hostname
smpatch update -n hostsname
smpatch add -n hostsname
These all fail.
I have a /.rhosts file giving patch server root access.
What am I missing on this setup?

with an LPS the idea is that the clients pull patches from it. you should be able to run smpatch analyze/download/update from your clients and they will get all patches they need from patchsvr
