You need to reinstall iPhoto. To reinstall iPhoto delete the current application and, on all Macs with Snow Leopard or earlier installed, all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the:
    HD/Library/Receipts folder (10.5 and earlier)
    or from the /var/db/receipts/  folder (10.6) .
Deleting receipts is not necessary if your Mac came with Lion or later preinstalled.
Then install iPhoto from the source it came from originally.

How does one copy songs from an iPod nano to a new computer?

You can't add any iOS to a Nano since it doesn't run iOS.
For iTunes purchased music connect to your computer and in iTunes go to File > Transfer purchases.
For non-iTunes music you will need 3rd party software. Assuming you have a Windows computer try Yamipod.

Well, when you go to a web page a section of the web page will have a coffee cup picture where the java applet will run. The applet loads then runs. If you are not seeing this behavior then you are not using java. If it make you feel more comfortable then disable the browser java plugin. On my machine I have not disable java- but you
    may what to.

  • How does one copy an xygraph from a refnum?

Sorry, normally this is straight forward enough to push through on my own.
    Purpose:
Pass Refnum of XY graph to subvi -->
Subvi's purpose : PRINT XYGRAPH to file/pdf/bmp, manipulate xy graph further (change back ground color to optomize for printing, optomize xy graph size for printing, move legend), perform some simple analysis on the data (rms, pkp etc)
    Problem Statements:
1 When using a refnum, writing any changes to the refnums property value will also change the parent i.e. the subvi xygraph.  This is not desired, so an exact copy of the xygraph must be made.  HOW DO YOU DO THIS?
2 When using a refnum for an xygraph, how does one retrieve the xy values?  If the property node for value is selected, a variant is produced.  (which after careful examination I was still not able to make heads or tales of this particular variant)
p.s. A refnum is used because the xygraph already has formatting applied to its legend, plots, axis, etc.  A refnum passed to a subvi is the only way I know to pass all formating etc for the graph.
p.p.s. I understand that there is an invoke node that will export an image, it contains certain limitations (such as requiring the subvi be opened, since it works by similar rules to a printscrn) that make it un applicable to this problem.

I don't understand this statement. Does the subVI have a graph also? Obviously, if you make changes to properties via the refnum, then the graph it's pointing to will change.

Again, I don't understand. Where's the graph? On the main VI, or the subVI? If it's on the main VI, why would this be an issue? Wouldn't the main VI window be open?

  • If leopard won't boot from dvd, use disk utility mount to partition

wanted to share a way that i successfully installed os 9, tiger, and leopard on 1 hard drive. first of all, leopard was the only installation that i had difficulty with. it would not boot off the original dvd, no matter if i held down the 'c' key or the option key, so this is what i did after a lot of reading on the internet to try and troubleshoot this issue.
First thing i did was partition my internal hard drive in 3 partitions using disk utility. the 3rd partition was around 9gb. I installed os9 first on the 1st partition, i then installed tiger on that same partition. then i put in my leopard dvd, and opened up disk utility. and clicked on "restore", and dragged the dvd image as the "source", and chose the 9gb partition as the destination, and clicked on restore. then, i changed the "startup disk" to start from the 9gb where i just restored the image, and rebooted, and went through the leopard setup and chose the 2nd partition as the place to install. this should work with the dvd, or if you made an image from the dvd. I hope this helps someone else whose dvd won't boot, because it was very frustrating after you purchase a faster processor, and faster video card so that your system meets the requirements, and then the dvd won't boot.

Two ways. Use another computer to restore the install disc to one of those ext HD. Then, use it to boot the other machine. Get an ext CD/DVD reader and use it to read the install disc and boot the machine. However, if both the HD and optical reader are kaput, then a trip to an Apple repair station is in order.

  • Can't erase (rewriteable) DVD using Disk Utility

I'm trying to erase a Maxell DVD +RW in my Mac Pro's SuperDrive, but when I click on Erase in Disk Utility (I've tried both Quickly and Completely, and both the drive and the disc itself) it just spins for 30 seconds, and then stops (with all the data still there).
I also downloaded PermanentEraser and dropped the disc icon into the app icon, but it also spun for a while but did nothing. I tried selecting all the files on the disc and manually dragging them to the Trash, but when I try to empty it I receive an error code of -61.
What's going on? Does DiskWarrior somehow create startup disks which can't be erased?

Hey, if you do that ... you can throw disk directly to the trash. if you used fast
erase option, you can only use disk utility !!! trying to that with others software make disk unusable.
when I started to use rewritable disks I did this mistake over more of 10 disks, before I understanded it. Toast warn you, when you use fast erase.

  • How do i backup my documents using disk utility?

hello all, i'm trying to backup my "documents" just in case of harddrive failure. i'm trying to use using disk utility with disk image. when i select documents many of the folders are grayed out. is it necessary for me to individually select and burn each folder? is there a better way to backup my documents? if i do use disk utility what is the preferred format? how would i know the size? help!
    thanks, bill

There are lots of options that are easy, to include freeware and shareware solutions. As for me, I LOVE simplicity and autmoation. I subscribed to .mac, which is, admittedly, a bit pricey. But, it comes with Backup, a very simple app that I can set up to automatically backup my documents, iCal, Addressbook, and Mail to my iDisk (500MB) on .mac.com , to my hard drive, weekly, and once a month to a DVD. You can backup many more things of course, and there are many suggested things that you can select, or select anything you want. What I like about using iDisk, is that when my logicboard died, all I had to do when I got my machine fixed was run Backup. It restored everything from the internet, without a hitch.
Yes, there are free ways and cheaper ways, but I don't know of anything easier or more automated. This is not a good solution for an entire backup of your hard drive, but all i need is to backup a relatively small number of files. Also, .mac.com's iDisk will also give you the option of synching all your documents, etc, online if you wish to, so that you can retrieve them from any other computer connected to the internet.
All of this ease costs me about $8.00 US per month. To a guy that already spent $3000 on his machine, this is a bargain, and I haven't even mentioned the many other features that .mac.com offers.
    Best Wishes,
Pip "i just backup a few things"

  • Can I duplicate a dvd using disk utility but exclude the menu?

No, Toast automatically handles the copying process—it creates a temporary image, burns it, and then deletes it.

  • How does one COPY a BluRay Disk

Woe is me! I have lost my original BluRay disk I produced in Encore some months ago. So I have borrowed a copy from a friend. How do I copy the BluRay disk?
Or can I open it in Encore?

Glad Imgburn worked with your BluRay... I use it for ALL of my disc writing with my DVD drive, but don't have a BluRay to test those functions
Read Bill Hunt on project setup http://forums.adobe.com/thread/919388?tstart=0
If you use his setup, it is easy to copy the entire project to a USB hard drive for backup... that is IF you decide to keep a project for future changes

  • How does one Create Bootable DVD from downloaded iso image in Windows?

I have a completely empty system I want to load Solaris Express on. I have access to web on a Windows XP machine and have downloaded the Solaris iso image. Using WindowsXP facilities simply copies the iso image as an intact iso image file and resulting disc is not bootable. Windows knowledge base very conveniently says that what happened to me is what happens. No obvious referral to how to do it....
    A) So for a non-Windows savy person who does not want to become Windows savy (That is why I downloaded Solaris!) Where is a set of instructions on how to (inside Windows XP) "extract" an iso image to a CD / DVD disk so it will be bootable?
    B) It sure would be nice if Solaris were able to be loaded onto a USB Flash drive and booted at will from any USB computer. Just plug it in and boot. Has this been done?
    C) Getting a physical disk by snail mail from Sun is very slow for me.... (3 weeks and still watching the mail box...)

You probably copied the .iso file as one single very large file onto media. Instead, you can use a utility such as Roxio DVD Creator or Nero (or freeware like cdrecord) , and select the option to burn an image that already exists. No special boot options are needed, because the ISO image already contains the boot information needed.
    B) It sure would be nice if Solaris were able to be loaded onto a USB Flash drive and booted at will from any USB computer. Just plug > it in and boot. Has this been done? With the Newboot project introduced into Solaris Express, I believe it is now possible. I'm not a USB expert, though, so cannot say for sure.

  • BURN DVD Using Disk Utility not Bootable

I have downloaded TechTool Deluxe for Intel and PPC. Following instructions in Disk Utility, I made/Burned DVD's of each .dmg for Power PC & Intel based computers.
Neither DVD will boot on computers using OS 10.5.6. The PPC DVD has OS 10.4.4 and the Intel has OS 10.4.5. I have tried restart using System Preferences, the "C" key, and "Option".
Can someone tell me how to boot from the DVD's or tell me what I may have done incorrectly?
    Bud

There must be some misunderstanding here.
It is the TechTool CD that must boot. If an operating system was installed on the CD via Disk Utility Burn then it should start up on that CD. It does not, even though it will show up in System Preferences/Startup Disk and "Options". I see it as a matter of how Apple installs the .dmg onto the CD as a legitimate startup disk.
All my computers work fine with 10.5.6 or lesser for older machines. The purpose of Techtools for me is to assure that they continue to do so.
The reason for a second G5 is that the first one had an LED light "on" on the logic board making it somewhat inoperable. The second machine comes clean. 10.5.X was installed nicely.
