How does one deal with transparency in a placed file in InDesign?

I suppose this may seem elementary, but I'm relatively new to it so here goes:
First off, my print shop says that placed images should be in EPS format. I'm creating my files in Illustrator and some of them use a gradient mask to fade an object away. When saved as an EPS, the gradient mask shows as a white box instead of fading into the background. When I copy/paste my Illustrator image into a new Photoshop file, save it as a PSD, bring that PSD into Illustrator and save it as an EPS, the whole file is in a white box.
Example. I want those aisle markers to not be in white boxes.

If possible, one finds a new printer who can handle your files properly and doesn't insist on .eps.
What format are you delivering to the Printer? If it's anything other than PDF (and that's at their request) all the more reason to reread the first sentence. Why on earth are you moving things from Illustrator to Photoshop and back to Illustrator? Either one of those will save as .eps (ugh), though you need to use a clipping path for transparent areas coming out of photoshop (don't really know how Illy handles it when you say to save .eps with transparent background), but you are FAR better off with either native .AI or .PSD, both of which support transparencey, unlike .eps.If yo are delivering PDF, as you should be, it makes no difference to the printer what format the placed content uses (and it shouldn't matter to him even with native files unless he's hopelessly stuck in the 90s).
In any event, when importing from Illustrator, make sure to show the import options and check the transparent background box.

Yes you still need to use your finger to do all of the things that you need to use it for even if you use a wireless keyboard. You are merely adding a larger more robust keyboard to the device. You are not replacing the touch gestures features with the use of an external keyboard.

How does OWB 9.2 deal with bitmap indexes on a fact table when records are inserted from a staging table? It seems to me that they are left on the table, while in the 9i Server manuals it says that one should not perform heavy DML in this case, because this slows down the inserts considerably and the indexes can get bloated. Should one define a premapping and postmapping process for removal and recreation of the bitmap indexes?
How handles OWB bitmap indexes in case of PEL and what action should one take then?

Hai Japp,
It depends on the volume of the data.
The best way is drop index in pre mapping process and recreate it in post mapping process.
You need to use EXECUTE IMMEDIATE command in the procedure to create or drop indexes.
e.g:
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'CREATE BITMAP INDEX INDX_BI_TABLE ON TABLE_NAME(COL_NAME)'

How should one deal with sub-projects?

Hello to all!
Let me first clarify my title-question.
On my current project I faced software malfunction [FCPX quitting] when I reached 17 minutes of building the video on the timeline. [As a reference, allow me to call this 17-minute part of the video in making as the main project.]
Remembering from an earlier thread [? Mr. Russ being the contributor], I opted to continue the project as a separate project which I seek to call as the sub-project Now even this sub-project is of a 14 minute duration and I have need to start a sub-project 2.
I would now like to be guided as to how to deal with these sub-projects while editing the video and after finishing the project.
Firstly, while editing. My present plan is to complete the project's video utilising as many sub-projects as needed, and then add the sub-projects to the main project. This done, I intend to add voiceover for the completed project. During this process, my questions are this...how do I add the sub-projects onto the main project? If I select and copy/paste the sub-project, it gets added as 'connected clips'...this is okay if one can export the project as such. But, when a voiceover has to be added, further retiming of the clips are called for and at this stage problems arise. Now, as I am writing this, it is striking me that I could make this added sub-project as a secondary storyline, get done with the retiming after the voiceover is added, and export the project. Have not done this before and would like guidance from senior contributors in this issue.
Secondly, when the project is exported and is being archived, do I need to have all the sub-projects or delete them to save drive-space?

Thanks Karsten for this further instructions. The present project I am working on is being done as a race against time. Faced a problem when dealing with a stack of generator clips one upon the other and each clip being given different commands regarding changes in position and rotation. Beyond the 17 minute mark, one click upon the parameter in the inspector window, and the application quit. When this quitting became a regular feature, I just remembered a thread in which one contributor wrote that he usually divides his projects into 10 minute bits before making up the whole project. Not willing to spend time further on this problem, being in a very 'creative frame mode' I simply continued working upon the project by starting up a 'sub-project'.

Will anyone please confirm me that how authorization checking works with profiles combination in SAP? If I set two profiles for a user. In one profile, I grant auhorization object F_BKPF_BES with value 3/001. And in another profile, I grant F_BKPF_BES 1/002. Will the system reckon that the user have been granted F_BKPF_BES (1,3)/(001,002) or it will consider the two profiles separately?

Yes, the reference to the authorizations are loaded, per authorization(!) for each object.

Not completely. Authorizations are generated per role and per object. You cannot mix the field values of the objects in different authorizations.

The consequence is combinations of all roles, per object. Not per field. Otherwise you could not create authorizations which permit you to display some values and change only a subset of them.

My organization is currently looking to migrate towards using MBAM from McAfee's Endpoint Encryption product. Our environment may be a little different from a lot of other companies though.
I've watched a few installation guides (including the newest from TechEd this year) and still have a couple of questions for deployment for our organization.
The computers that will be encrypted, they will be set up internally on our network and then shipped out of our network perimeter. This means that communication needs to take place over the internet. Does the MBAM server support open web communication with
remote devices over the web (assuming over port 443 or designated port)?
Secondly, if we need to restrict access to a computer remotely (as in disable a user) does MBAM automatically take care of this for us, or will we need a open facing domain controller that can be hit from the web as well?

First, MBAM clients requires access to the MBAM service to update compliance status as well as store new recovery keys (if one is used). Other than that it is fine to use the PC outside of the corp network without access.
Secondly, MBAM doesn't help you to disable a user on a local machine. It doesn't manage users at all. Perhaps I missunderstand you.

I Have multiple iPhoto libraries and an Aperture library. How are duplicates photos handled when I upgrade to Photos?

There will be no duplicates unless they are in a Library already. Upgrading to Photos does not merge multiple libraries. If you want to do that, do so prior to upgrading.

I can't find Citrix Receiver on App store and when I down load from Citrix; the site links to App Store and I get "Your request could not be completed" - how does one load with no issues? I have an Imac Intel on Mac OS X 10.6

I got ping earlier today, and i was asked to connect to facebook. i tried and after multiple attempts it still wasnt working, it would never load. Eventually, i found out that the apple servers were overloaded with people trying to upload photos and connect to facebook. Then i got the message (U.S. members are not allowed to connect at this time) or something along those lines. Now its completely gone. I believe apple will get their servers up and running overnight and give the capability back to everyone in a day or two. For now, you will just have to live with twitter and facebook.

I ran the the Office Config Analyzer
the only warning I get is the add-in being disabled due to performance and stability. The following were addtional add-in added
1) ProAid Writing (which has been uninstalled)
2) endnote (also has been uninstalled)
Still same issue after the add-in are removed.

1) uninstalled and reinstalled Office 365 on the computer - YES several time
2) complete
error message that came up when you run the installer - just a window saying something like ".. has stopped working" and I press the cancel button. The install continued at the background.

Repair of Office 365 - also done but same error message and quits.

How does one programatically determine what folders a given file is in?

I'm attempting to get a list of the folders a given file is referenced in. It's quite easy given a folder to determine what files are in it, but the reverse seems to be more difficult. I can't seem to find a suitable function to do so. I've looked at the 'getLeftwardRelationshipObjects' and the like, but I really am unsure as to what that function will return. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

So, in your case would it return an array of oracle.ifs.beans.Folder objects? It can't return oracle.ifs.beans.FolderPathRelationship objects because that does not derive from PublicObject from what I've seen. Thus, I could just cast each of the returns PublicObjects to Folders? Thanks a lot for your assistance!

What does one do with downloaded add on .xpi files?

Downloaded some add-ons--they were downloaded as .xpi files to my DL folder..
'DoNotTrackMe', 'NoScript, 'EasyUTubeVideoDownloader', 'Greasemonkey' and 'FoxyProxy'..
Should they be automatically recognized by Firefox (they're not)?
As far as I can tell, DoNotTrackMe and EasyUTubeVideoDownloader are available..
Should I assume FoxyProxy is running in the background upon opening Firefox?
How about NoScript? Same thing?
But GreaseMonkey--shouldn't I have a new menu for that within Firefox?

It is usually best to use the install button on the home page to install an extension.
You can install extensions that you have saved locally by dragging the xpi file in a Firefox window or use File > Open File or Firefox > New Tab > Open File.

9.0.115 and 9.0.124 and both fail with the policy permission error.
I also tried with and without your crossdomain.xml file but
with the same result. It looks like this file is intended for URL
policy, instead of socket policy. Recently Adobe separated the two.
When I run with the files installed on my dev PC, it does
work, which makes sense because the flash player isn't loaded from
an unknown domain.
I did get one step closer. If a crossdomain.xml in the server
root exists and the socketpolicy file is loaded from the app folder
then the first two warnings disappear. The logs now show:
