I would do these things
To wipe phone
Turn off imessage in settings/messages
Turn off Facetime in settings/Facetime
Delete icloud account in settings/icloud
Erase all data and settings in settings/general/reset
Get the previous owner to delete the phone from their profile in https://supportprofile.apple.com if they registered the phone there

Gord-
First do a final sync of the old phone. Then hook up the new one and restore (it will take quite a while). You can then just reset the old one to factory settings.
Others do a back up, then use find my iphone to delete all data, then plug in new one and do the restore on that phone.
Both ways work fine.

Although there is not a way to remove past purchases from your iTunes account completely, you can hide them so that you don't have to see them if you don't want to. This article will help you do that:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support
Hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from the top of the window.
A list of your purchased items for the content type you are viewing will appear. Mouse over the item you want to hide until an X appears its top-left corner.
A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the X.

This is ridiculous!
Imagine this scenario, can't be that unlikely:
I'm going away on holiday, or away on work for a while, and I'm not taking the computer to which I sync my phone. Before I leave I fill my iPhone up with music to take with me. While I'm travelling I want to install a new app, but I don't have space. I look to delete content from the phone - I can delete podcasts but not music. Unfortunately I don't have enough podcasts to free up space that way. So I don't purchase the app I wanted.
This is bad for:
1. The user (me)
2. The app developer - lost download.
3. Apple - they lose their cut of the app download, and royally p#@* off a user.
Can someone explain to me why this limitation is good for anyone?!

This is probably a very easy fix, but I can't figure out how to delete artwork in iTunes. Some of the songs show a blank white page or the incorrect artwork. I have plopped the correct artwork but it won't show it; I can select it, the artwork is there, but you can have multipe art on one song. So, how do I delete the other art so I can just have it show the correct album cover? Your help is much appreciated.

How do you delete spam without first clicking on it and therefore opening it?

I'm running 10.6 so I don't know if this works the same in 10.7 -- I would think it will. But if you double click the separator at the center bottom of the Mail window, thereby expanding it (the mouse pointer will turn into a cross), you can then single click and highlight a message without opening it. Next hit CMD-Shift-S, which will save the message to the location of your choice (I use the Desktop), where you can safely read it without ever having opened it. If you like, you can trash the message at this point.
Double clicking the same point on the window will return the window to normal viewing.
And, yes, it's a good idea to never actually open spam. Also, make sure load remote images is turned off all the time. An opened remote image is one way spammers know they've found a sucker and they keep it up. If you never open spam, it discourages further spam.
Opening spam may sometimes actually "do something." A friend of my wife just recently opened a message and it stole her address book. But maybe she clicked on a link inside. Don't know all the details.

If it doesn't, check the permissions of the folder on your HD.

I want to know if there is a data dictionary table that holds if a user/schema has read access to a directory object.
I know there is an dba_directories table and an all_directories table but they dont give information as to which user has read access granted to the directory.

From Photos for Mac, how does one delete imported iphone photo?

IPhoto had this feature where when after it has imported all of my iPhone photos, it would ask me if I want to delete the imported photos from my iPhone. Also, it has a button to delete all photos from my iPhone if I choose to. Does anyone know if this very nice feature is still available in the new Photos for Mac?
I really like this feature to clear all of my photos with one click, instead of having go thru one by one.
