HOW DOES ONE SAVE A DRAFT COPY OF A MAIL MESSAGE IN LION?

There does not seem to be an icon for saving a message as a draft message in Lion as there was in Snow Leopard.

Drafts are saved automatically.....just go to another wondow or app and you will see the mail you were working on in the drafts folder.

    New to using Firefox with MAC: How does one save a single jpeg from the internet, similar to using the right mouse click on a pc?

    If your question comes about because you have a single button mouse, it's time to visit your local computer store and get a ''real'' mouse for that MAC. I don't "get" Apple, they sell their hardware for almost twice what a comparable PC would sell for - and then they leave out what is probably the most important time saving control, the right-button.

  • How does one perform mailbox to mailbox moving of email messages w/ Messaging 3.X?

    How does one perform mailbox to mailbox moving of email messages with Messaging 3.X?
    <P>
    In an ISP environment there are times that a user changes his
    login name (his unique identifier in the ISP's network, also used as
    his email address) from one value to another. It is very convenient
    for the ISP to be able to move messages from the user's old mailbox
    to the user's new mailbox when this situation occurs.
    <P>
    With Messaging Server 2.0, this was easily accomplished by simply
    moving the mail messages on disk. However, with the added complexity
    of Messaging 3.0 where there are back links, reference counts, etc.,
    associated with mail messages, moving files on disk from one mailbox
    to another is no longer valid.
    <P>
    The MoveUser utility, which is new in MS 3.X, moves messages from
    one messaging server to another or from one maildrop path to another.
    Can this utility be used to move messages from one mailbox to another?
    <P>
    The answer is yes, it can. The user should be aware that if
    duplicate email message id's exist in the mailbox before the
    move, the messages related to the duplicate message id's will
    be duplicated in the target mailbox.
    <P>
    See the online documentation contained with the product or the
    Messaging 3.X Administrator's Guide for exact syntax.

    Hi
    If I understand you correctly and if you are using Apple Mail version 2.0 or above navigate to /Users/Home folder. The Home folder is the one with the house icon, within that folder you will see a Library folder, within that folder you’ll see a Mail folder, within that folder you’ll see a folder that begins with POP followed by your name, within that folder will be a folder called INBOX.mbox, within that folder is a Messages folder. All the mail that you see within the application are there. They will be numbered and have a file suffix of .emlx. You can move these wherever you like.
    If you are using Entourage X, or Entourage 2004 you can easily multiple select mail messages, addresses etc from within the application and drag whatever you’ve selected to wherever you like.

  • In Pages, how does one 'Save As' - I only have the option 'Save' which wipes earlier versions

    how can i save a newer version of any document in Pages without losing the earlier version?
    What Microsoft so neatly do with either 'Save' or 'Save as"?

    Brilliant thank you, only on mine it is called alt as I have only just discovered, and lo, as you say, Save As actually appears!
    Apple isn't so obstinate after all - but why do they make it so difficult to find their simple solution? I even bought a book about switching (O'Reilly's) and nothing is mentioned about any of this.
    I am very grateful to you all, now I have two options!

  • How does one save App Store downloads to a flash drive?

    I live in South Africa, where Internet access is expensive/slow compared to the rest of the world.
    For this reason, I would like to backup my App Store downloads so I can do a clean install every few years.
    I've downloaded GarageBand which has been saved in my applications folder.
    I have not run the installer yet.
    In applications, the file GarageBand.app has been created.
    If I right click on the file, I can copy it, but right clicking again doesn't give me a paste option.
    Any idea how to save this file to a flash drive?
    I'm running Mavericks

    There is no digital rights management scheme used in the Mac App Store aside from the fact that all apps/games are coded with the user's Apple ID and the Mac on which one wishes to use an app/game must be authorized to use that Apple ID's content.
    The only difference in this case is that my thumb drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) because it is my bootable USB installer for Mavericks. But as you can see it works fine.

  • Using O2M I imported my contacts into Address Book. However upon exiting the contacts are not saved. This is on a new Macbook Pro Lion OS. How does one save the newly imported contacts?

    Using the program O2M I successfully imported emails from Outlook 2003 to Mail, and calendar events to iCal. However, repeated attempts to import contacts to Address Book have failed. The contacts appear to import, but when I close Address Book and reopen it, the contacts are gone. I tried File-Save, but Save is greyed out. This is a new Macbook Pro with the latest Lion OS. I wonder if O2M has not been updated to work with Lion. Or is there something I am overlooking in the import process?

    Hi Denisej and others who have encountered the same problem,
    I tried your work around. Unfortunately it did not work out for me because in my contacts there are an unknown number that still "refused" to be imported like that. When such a contact was in the group I selected for import the whole lot would be lost again after re-opening Address Book. Finally that meant that I had to import each contact one-by-one, each time with the need to close down Address Book. A job to go nuts and end up with a mouse injury. So I decided to use the Migration Assistant that Lion now offers
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3284404
    together with Windows Migration Assitant on my old PC. Obviously both Mac and PC have to be on the same network. For this I did not need to do anything special. Both make use of the same router and that is apparently sufficient. When migrating the contacts Lion creates a new account, so you need to log in to that new account to see your migrated contacts. I used the Export Address Book Archive function in the Address Book menu to copy the lot to my own Apple account. I got rid of the new account and I was finally where I wanted to be in the first place.

  • How does one save new files to an encrypted disk image?

    I encrypted a particular folder, and used a sparse image to leave plenty of room, as well as using read/write permissions, but I don't see how to save new files to the encrypted folder.

    So, I guess you have to save the file to the desktop and then drag it to the mounted disk?
    No, you should be able to save directly to a mounted disk image via a dialogue box. There is no need for an intermediate step. As long as the encrypted disk image is mounted, it is open and appears to be just another folder.
    As an experiment, open a Textedit document and save it to the mounted (open) disk image via Save As in Textedit. It should be able to do that.

  • How does one save a website as a functional - links enabled including images PDF

    Hello Friends,
    Can someone please tell me:
    Using FF version 3.6.13 - is there a way to save a website in a 'functional' PDF format. Functional meaning the links will work and the images will be illustrated.
    Many thanks in advance for any / all info you can share.
    David

    No, you would need an addon that provides PDF functionality in or through Firefox.
    See this [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=PDF&cat=all&lver=any&pid=1&sort=&pp=20&lup=&advanced= AMO search] for that type of addon.
    Any particular reason for it being PDF format, specifically? <br />
    MHTML is more of a "web browser" format for saving web pages to a single file. Most web browsers have the capability of reading that file format, and some will even save to that format. For Firefox there are two addons that will add MHTML capabilites.
    UnMHT extension:

    Mozilla Archive Format - MAF

  • How does one hide Junk, Trash, Archive, etc. from Mail sidebar?

    In the Mail app in OS X Mavericks, the part under Mailboxes now shows: "Sent", "Junk" , "Trash" and in my case "Archive". "Draft" appears when you have a message in progress and does not disappear unless you restart Mail. These are not the ones that appear, particularly when accessing mail via iOS, those are easily deleted. However, these appear built in. Under Mountain Lion, I've arranged all my sub-folder and in some cases sub-sub-folder so that I could see all the folders without having to scroll to see folders that I was interested in. Now with all that unneeded stuff near the top that has appeared with Mavericks, I have to scroll. Does anyone know a way to disable or at the very least hide those folders, all I really want is Inbox. When trying to delete these Mailboxes, I get an error saying that an internal folder cannot be deleted.

    @leonie,
    Thank you. However, not quite what I was looking for. I don't want to see those built-ins, ever. Not anywhere. While reordering is ok, I have 6 email accounts managed by Mail, they still bug me. That said, it solves the scrolling problem, but the Inbox becomes inconvenient. Those built-ins bother me in the sense that they have only appeared with Mavericks, and did not do so since the days of .mac back in 2002, and iTools before that. MobileMe had been the worst version of what is now iCloud and was generally getting better until Mavericks. I can only hope Yosemite is better.
    In other words, not looking for method of use work arounds. I was hoping for some .rc (*NIX Run Control) file somewhere or some plist change. Of course I prefer more control via preferences in the Mac GUI, but I'm very comfortable doing things in the Terminal since I have been a *NIX (Solaris/Linux) system administrator for a decade. I'm just haven't managed a BSD system for some time. I'm not new to the Mac either, using since System 6 in 1988. This is a fundamental change in behavior of the Mail app. I guess I'll keep trying to get Apple to make things more customizable.
    Thanks for taking the time.

  • How does one remove or uncheck a time zone in iCal (Mountain Lion)?

    In my Calendar, I have a list of time zones that I can select.
    Is there a way to remove one for the drop down list?

    Hi,
    Not in the Calendar.app interface. You can remove the entire list by running the follwing Terminal command. You can then re-add the ones you want. Quit Calendar Copy the following single line into the Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app) and press return.
    defaults delete com.apple.iCal 'PersistentMenu-lastUsedTimeZones'
    Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks but the problem was there was no trash icon. Shut phone down and rebooted and the trash icon came back. Don't know how long it will stay.
    Probably for a long time.  Occasionally, there will be a hiccup or a glitch, and closing then reopening the app usually fixes it.  If not, then a restart or a reset might.  After that, you may need to reset settings or try further troubleshooting.  In the worst case scenario, you can always make a backup then restore the backup, since the restore process acts as a 'filter', or even restore as new and test your issue.
    Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
    - Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear.  (For iOS 6, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
    - Relaunch the App and try again.
    - Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    - Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
    - Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
    - Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
    - Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
    - Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

    Numbers 3.x can only open Numbers '09 and later.  You will need Numbers '09 to open Numbers '08 files.
    If it is a single file (or only a few) you can email me and I will open and convert then email back.  My email address is in the "Biography" of my profile.
    You may have Numbers '09 installed.  Look in the folder "/Applications/iWork '09"  if Numbers is in that folder launch it, open the file you tried to open, and save.  Then you should be able to open in Numbers 3.x

    Just brought home newly purchased MacBook Pro 15"/Maverick/Retinal Display. To my astonishment, there is NO DVD slot! No one in the store told me about this missing feature. Intolerable, How does one install software? Insert CDs to copy for iTunes?Do I have to purchase an external DVD drive? Is one even available? What a crock!

    I’ve owned Macs since 1990 (IICX my first), mostly desktops. Having had DVD/CD drives in all my previous laptop Macs since 2001 -  (2) G4 Powerbooks,  A 17” Mac Book Pro - and also inspecting a friend’s year-old Mac Book Pro which had the DVD slot - unless someone told me at purchase, I had no reason to know that the Retina display version of the 15” had NO DVD drive. ANYHOW, I fully intended to buy the non-Retina display version, because it was cheaper. Unfortunately by the time I got to the Apple store they were no longer selling the non-Retina display version; all versions were ONLY with the Retina display. And the fine distinction of a DVD vs. a non-DVD drive was not pointed out. So now I have to shell out an additional $80 bucks for an external SuperDrive.

    If your using File>Place then photoshop cs2 creates what's known as Smart Objects, which photoshop 7 didn't have.
    In photoshop cs2 you can rasterize the smart objects and that should make the Cut function available.
    Select both placed layers, right click on the area to the right of the tumbnail and select Rasterize Layers.
    If in photoshop cs2 you to Help>Photoshop Help and look under Layers>Smart Objects, that should give you a good overview of what smart objects are.
