How does one  transfer the songs from a classic ipod to an account and back?

I'm giving my sister my ipod classic because I got an ipod touch. We are trying to figure out how to put the music on ipod to her account. Any ideas?

You want to transfer the music from your iPod to her iTunes library or her account?  If it's the latter (her Apple ID), then it's not possible as purchases made under one Apple ID are permanently attached to that ID.
If it's the former, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

    DaisyDoodle,
The songs on your Shuffle should still be in your iTunes library.  That means you should just be able to connect your Nano to the same iTunes library and sync it just as you would with your Shuffle. There is no limit to the number of iPods, iPads, or iPhones you can sync to one computer, iTunes library, or account.
As for preparing the Shuffle for your husband, just restore it via iTunes and then let him sync it to his own iTunes library or if its the same iTunes library, let him configure it to sync only his content.
Here are instructions on how to restore the Shuffle if need be.

  • How can I transfer the songs from a CD to iTunes if my computer doesn't have a CD drive?

I have iTunes installed in my personal computer and that's the only computer where I connect my ipod touch (5th generation) and where I have all my music. But the problem is that this personal computer doesn't have a CD drive. I was thinking about installing iTunes on another computer (that does have a CD drive) and transfering the songs from the CD here and then connect my ipod to transfer the album. But will my ipod synce in this new computer and make a security copy and delete all my previous songs (from my personal computer)? And also, will I be able to transfer the album from my ipod to the iTunes library in my personal computer? Or is there any other solution for this? Thank you.

Or is there any other solution for this?
Be careful, the method you describe will indeed delete the contents of your iPod.
Instead, after you rip your CD on the other computer, copy the resulting song files to a flash drive.  Then copy them from the flash drive to your main computer, and add them to your iTunes library.

  • How do I transfer the songs from my ipod to a new computer?

I loaded a bunch of cds onto itunes on an old laptop and then synced it to my nano.  That lap top crahsed and burned and I would like to be able to get the cds from my nano onto my new lap top. There are approximately 175 discs worth of music and i cannot re load all of them .  Can someone walk a total noob through the process?  thanks

There are really two options for you,
1st: An application called 'senuti' makes it possible to transfer the data from ipod to computer, something that is not possible with iTunes alone. This application however is not supported by Apple, and as a result may be somewhat unstable.
2nd: If the old PC is still in working order, you can copy the iTunes folder to an external hard drive (to locate this folder...with iTunes open, click the edit menu, then click preferences. Click the advanced tab. here you will find the location of the folder that iTunes keeps your media in. Using this path as reference, find the folder using the windows filing structure and copy it to the external hard drive. Now connect the drive to the new computer and copy the iTunes folder to the same location as it was found on the old machine...here is the cool part...hold down the option key (alt) and click to open iTunes. a dialouge box will appear asking you to either create or choose an iTunes library, click choose. Navigate through your computer in the resulting window and find the copied iTunes folder, click to go inside, here you will find a file called something like 'iTunes Library.itl' choose this file and click open.
iTunes will now be the same as it always was on the old machine, playlists and all.

Exact same way as razmee209 stated earlier. The sync process for the iPhones and iPods is one way from iTunes to the device, not the other way. The 3rd party software is the only solution if the music was not purchased via iTunes.
Simplest way is to transfer all your user data (inlcluding iTunes library) from old computer to new computer.

  • How do I transfer the music from computer to ipod

Just got ipod and have NO idea how to transfer the music from itunes and lime wire to my ipod? There are no promps to explain? Lime Wire is shown in the itunes library. I feel so stupid? Please help!

It is always better to transfer the music via iTunes, once you have music files showing in the library of the iTunes, connect your iPod with your computer, and a window will pop up and ask you to register your iPod with the iTunes, then just follow the instruction.

  • How does one combine the history from two different profiles, so that my current profile will show both my old and my new history

    No details

    You can't do that.
The best that you can do is to copy and paste the history items to a bookmarks folder and export the bookmarks to an HTML file.
Then you can import that file in the other profile.
If both profiles are on the same computer and are open at the same time then you can use the clipboard to do the C&P.

  • How does one drag a song to a new album?

How does one drag a song from one album and drop it into another album?
Many of the mp3 files that I use are ones that I create myself for my students. It would be great if I could drag them into the correct album without having to type in the information (very tedious).
I am new to Mac from Windows and I can't discern how to accomplish re-assigning albums in the manner that I was able to previously using Windows Media Player.
Any suggestions or perhaps different workflow suggestions?

I'm a high school music teacher and a lot of the tracks are student-created (or instructor-created). It has always been easier for me to leave the mp3 tag "unknown" and then drag them to the appropriate album in Windows Media Player.
I actually took something from your reply that I think will work well. By adding newly created files to a playlist, I could select them and then edit the tag data every few days by selecting all of the items in the playlist (I think that will work!).
