How does Rights Managament handle office files containing OLE objects?

I tried to encrypt those office flies that contain multiple OLE objects but it failed. I wondered  if those OLE objects caused this problem so I removed them out of files. Then the encryption process worked fine again. However I'm not sure OLE object is the root cause.  Is anyone know  the process how rights management handle these kind of office files?
Can Rights Managamenet skip the OLE objects and still make those offce files encrypted successfully?
Thanks.

The Temp Files were in my case at :MobileSync/backup
everytime the restore failes, itunes creates a folder named with the same name adding the crash date and time
in my case for the backup folder name "1d950ba8cfaab2fa172120ae6212c788ed9b07c"
itunes creates folder named:                "1d950ba8cfaab2fa172120ae6212c788ed9b07c-20131229-004508"
which you have to delete to restore your disk space.

How does Media Manager handle Motion Projects within the Sequence being copied?
I've highlighted my sequence, opened Media Manager, and copied it to another drive. When I open up the sequence in it's new project, the rendered Motion Project plays within my sequence but it won't let me go back into this Motion Project to make changes. I tried starting over. This time I highlighted the actual motion sequence and clip that is created within FCP after sending something to Motion and copied those to the new drive. When I went into the newly created 'media' folder and double clicked on the motion project it launched. It looked liked it was going to play but while my crops moves and borders were there, the filmed material is shown as a freeze frame for the duration of the motion project.
I did this with and without 'including master clips within selection'. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there anyone who knows the answer to this? Thanks.

  • How does Time Machine handle large files?

I'm relatively new at the whole Time Capsule / Time Machine process and have learned that large files (eg aperture library) are backed up each time there is a change and this can lead to the TC filling up quicker than normal.
How does this work with daily and weekly backups?
For example, if my aperture library is, say 1Gb and I import a load of photos from my camera and this goes up to 2Gb. I've learned that I should disable time machine while I'm in Aperture (or at least before 10.6...not sure now). So given I've done that, imported the files to Aperture but want to edit them later and ultimately move them into iPhoto to keep the Aperture album small.
When I turn back on Time Machine, the next hourly backup will know the library has changed and will back it up, this will go on until a day backup has been taken - this deletes the 24 hourly backups? or does it merge them?
If I then do the editing the following week, then export the photos and the library is now back to 1Gb again....backed up hourly/daily/weekly etc what am I left with??
Do I have an original, the 2GB version and the new 1Gb version...ie 4Gb......is there a cunning way I can work to change the files within a week so only one of the changes is in the backup?

The Time Machine panel of System Preferences says this:
    Time Machine keeps
    - Hourly backup for the past 24 hours
    - Daily backups for the past month
    - Weekly backups until your backup disk is full
Each time Time Machine runs it creates what appears to be an entirely new backup set, although it does this in a way that doesn't require it to copy files that have already been copied. So merging isn't necessary. Another effect of how it operates is that each unique version of a file (as opposed to packages of files) only exists on the backup volume once.
According to the contents of my Time Machine backup file, hourly backups are literally kept for 24 hours, not until the next "daily" backup. For a "daily" backup, it seems to keep the oldest "hourly" backup for a day.
If I then do the editing the following week, then export the photos and the library is now back to 1Gb again....backed up hourly/daily/weekly etc what am I left with??

You might be able to exclude those files from being backed up at certain times, but I can't be sure this would result in older copied of those files being retained.

  • How does Time Machine handle alias files on the backup volume?

I have been trying to find some info on how Time Machine handles alias files on the backup volume, but can't find anything on that topic. Neither here in this discussion or at the Apple support pages.
My concern is if an alias file on the backup volume is backed up »as is«, or if it is resolved and the original file is backed up? The last would be most annoying as this will make the size of the backup much larger.
Even though I do not know of folders having been renamed (which will cause that folder and all its content to be backed up again) Time Machine often backs up a surprisingly large amount of data, so I suspect that alias files could be resolved.
Any info on this will be appreciated.

Alias files are NOT followed, AFAIK.
For more info on how TM works, see this ars technica review.
    Good luck!

  • How does time machine handle deleted files

I've recently grown into a 1.5TB external hard drive where I back up my iMac through Time Machine. I'm a photography hobbyist who does a lot of processing work on my photos in Photoshop, therefore I'm regularly generating sizable data to back up.
My question is, using some hypothetical numbers:
Pretend I create 50GB of new data by importing a lot of photos onto my iMac, then Time Machine does it's thing before I can decide what photos I want to keep or trash. I later go back and edit my photo catalog and decide I only want to keep 1/2 of photos from that previous import, reducing that data to only 25GB. Will Time Machine keep those old pictures on my external drive, even though I deleted them from my iMac? Will Time Machine ever recognize I threw away those files, assume I don't want them, and overwrite them? Or is Time Machine going to keep using my my external drive to back up everything until I used up all of the externals space?

Understanding how TM deletes things can be difficult, but I'll try to summarize it:
-TM will back up your system every hour.
-After 24 hours, TM will delete all but one of the 24 previous hourly backups. The one it decides to keep will become your "daily" backup. You have no control over which of those 24 backups it will select to keep as the daily.
-After 30 days, TM will start to delete the old daily backups too. It will keep 4 of the last 30 backups, one for each week.
-After your TM disk fills up, it will start to delete old backups to make room for new ones.
So, after you delete them from your main HD, the length of time that they kept on the TM drive can vary. If the files existed for only a few hours, then there is a good chance that they will be purged from the backups the following day. Or they might be kept for weeks or months, depending on if TM decided to keep those backups as the daily or weekly. It's kind of a crap shoot.
If the files existed on your main hard drive for between one and seven days, then they will remain on your TM backup drive for at least a month. After that they are at risk of being purged out.
If the files existed for more than a week, they will stay on your TM drive until it fills up. After that, they are at risk of being deleted.
    I hope this helps.

  • How does one manage these new render setting for previews?

I placed 4 HD clips from a nested into a sequence 5800 x 768 to mimic 4 side by side monitors for a multi channel video.  Each clip cut from the sequence are at 1280x720 all sitting side by side. However when I rendered the previews, they came look all squished. However when I exported the frame it looks fine in Photoshop. (I changed the uploaded image to what it looks like in Premiere in Photoshop to demonstrate the appearance in Premiere.)
I imagine that the distortion has to do with the sequence render setting which for some reason comes out to 1918 x 253...or the pixel aspect ratio? How does one manage these new render setting for previews so it looks normal in the monitor?

Either way, I thought that this format would be a great way to view on the monitor 4 channels at the same time. I may need to place them on a “normal” 1440 x 1080 sequence in a line, bringing them down to 25% scale to make it work in the end. I did just try that. I think it will work...but when I imported and nested the old file, the scratch disks changed from the original set up on a D drive back to the main hard drive so I had to change it agin. Otherwise it works fine...so I’ll go with this for now
These are the instructions I was given.I attched a screen save of the AE file they asked me to use (They must be on vacation, because I have not been able to get hold of them). I don't know After Effects very well:
“As you begin creating or adapting work for e4c, you may find an After Effects template developed for this system to be helpful. Attached you'll see a zipped file with two AE templates. There is some detailed information (below) from the artist that developed these for us. In addition, a few bits of information that might help you along are:
    ·        The "Watchout"  playback system can support WMV or a QuickTime files . We like .mov files with H.264 codec best!
    ·        The end resolution of the four screens is 5120 x 720 pixels (1280x720 each).
    ·        If works are four-channel, please provide a separate audio (aiff) file so it doesn't slow any one video down.”
    Thanks for your help!

    Hey there Matt.dvs1,
Although there is not a way to remove past purchases from your iTunes account completely, you can hide them so that you don't have to see them if you don't want to. This article will help you do that:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support
    Hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from the top of the window.
A list of your purchased items for the content type you are viewing will appear. Mouse over the item you want to hide until an X appears its top-left corner.
A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the X.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • How does the iMac handle HD video editing?

Tired of Window PCs, looking to buy an Apple System. I would like to do some video editing but want to make sure I get a powerful enough system from the start. How does the iMac handle HD video editing or should I look a better, faster computer?

I have a mid 2011 iMac, 21 inch 4 GB RAM (the next to bottom iMac), Lion. I run Final Cut Express 4 with no difficulty (at least so far). It is certainly fast enough. My old G5, 7 years old, was also, and the iMac is faster.
As I remember, I heard from someone on the Final Cut Express Discussions that some people might be having difficulty with FCE 4 on Lion, but I am a bit hazy. Its bigger brother, Final Cut Pro, is also available. I suggest that you post on the Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro Discussion sites. They have many reliable users.

how can i store ms office files in iCloud?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
To store Office files on iCloud, you need Numbers, Keynote or Pages, depending of the files you want to upload (Word, PowerPoint or Excel).
First, if you haven't done it, open App Store and purchase Keynote, Numbers and/or Pages. Then, if you have OS X Mountain Lion, when you open the app, you will see an iCloud window where you can drag your Office documents to be uploaded to iCloud.
If you don't have OS X Mountain Lion, open http://www.icloud.com, login with your Apple ID, select iWork and drag your Office documents
