How does someone request reconsideration of rejected posts

While I usually just read other people's posts, I sometimes I start a discussion when I think there is something important that is missing or confusing. About 25% of the time something  (my posts are always polite) causes a mod to take the post down. I just got one of the "Your post was removed from Apple Support Communities as it contained feedback or feature requests." emails for no reason that I can determine. This is the full post:
"There are many commercial programs and user suggestions for transfering Voice Messages from an iPhone to a PC or Mac when the message is too long to share/send by email or message. They work well most of the time, but each method has failed for me at least once, sometimes corrupting the VM file. If you have a VM that is important to you and that you absolutely do not want to lose then you should follow the procedure that a user (sorry I lost their username) suggested in another thread. Open iTunes, connect your iPhone, and perform a manual (unencrypted) backup (not a sync) to your computer. This transfers the entire file content of the phone to a folder on your computer (you can search Apple support for the location for different OS's). In Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines the folder is C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\[random 40 alphanumeric folder name]. Open the 40 character named folder that has the most recent current "created on" date. You will then see hundreds of files with 40 character alphanumeric names and no file extension (like .mp4). Don't panic. There are now three possible ways to located the VM, you may need to do a bit of scavenger hunting to find the right one. Previous posts suggest copying the largest files to a new folder, renaming them with a .mp4 extension, and then trying to open them with Windows Media Player. If it is the VM you want it will start playing, if not you may get a file type error. I have successfully used a slightly modifed method. Sort the files on "date created" and/or "date modified". Identify files from the date you recorded the VM that are large enough to be media files (for a 10 minute VM the file would be 5,000 KB or more). There will be dozens of files that are not VM's, but one of the files is the VM you are looking for! Right click on the first file you think may be the right one, select "open with", and choose the free RealPlayer (my favorite), QuickTime, or Windows Media Player (warns about trustworthy sources - say ok). If it is the right file it will start playing, if not you will get some kind of error message. Keep testing files until you find the VM, copy that file to another folder, rename it to something simple with a .mp4 extension (eg - party.mp4) - and you then have a very high quality version of the VM. This is a lot of work but it prevents loss of important VM's. Even if you use another method like trim ALWAYS do a manual backup first just in case the original VM file gets damaged."
It was intended to be 100% "technical", how to preserve and recover a critical file when for no good reason it does not sync to a pc through iTunes. Other methods in posts that were not removed carry the risk of corrupting or altering the VM file (ie - "trim"), making recovery of teh full file impossible.This happens often for various technical reasons, it has nothing to do with features.There is no feedback or feature request in the post that I can see? All of the references were taken from older posts that were not taken down. References to third party Windows audio programs were included because they are the WIndows programs that work ok without file extensions. So how do you explain those facts when the email notices come from an unmonitored support box?
One reason I thought that posting this info was very important is that the suggestion  "Even if you use another method like trim ALWAYS do a manual backup first just in case the original VM file gets damaged." is important whenever you attempt to recover a lost VM.

Thanks, I appreciate it. It's the second time it's happened to me and I imagine both were just mistakes with their word filter. The first time it happened I tried all sorts of re-phrasing and finally gave up. (And it looks like I'll be giving up this time as well.)
It would be useful if the blocked post message provided some specifics about what was wrong with the content.
Does one need to be at a Level 6 or better to communicate with the hosts here?

    How does someone from a remote PC login and gain access to a Mac with remote desktop with VNC without turning remote sharing on? So they can see what I see and can control my mouse from a PC?

    without turning on screen sharing and with the remote user working from a windows pc, there is no way built into os x to do this. however if the remote user is using a mac you can use ichat's screen sharing feature.
    otherwise, you can turn on screen sharing, find your ip address (google 'what is my ip address'), ensure the ports are open on your router and enable vnc users by entering a password in the advanced dialog.

    How does someone who has a 1st generation iPad but no computer update to the current operating system?

    You take the iPad to someone or somewhere where you can update the device using iTunes on a computer. There is no other way to do it. You must use iTunes on a computer.
    Apple Stores will update the device for you. Make an appointment at an Apple Store for help.

  • How does WTK handle chunked HTTPConnections via POST?

    Hi,
    I am using
    HttpConnection hc = (HttpConnection) Connector.open(url);
    hc.setRequestMethod(hc.POST);
    to send bytes to a PHP-Skript. Header "Content-Length" is set to the exact value. It is greater than 2KB. I found out that:
    a) If you set WTK-Preferences to HTTP/1.0 everything works fine.
    b) But using HTTP/1.1 will get a 441 (Content-Length is missing)-Error from my script.
    -> And the body is split up to chunks. Alongside with this, the WTK will drop my "Content-Length"-Header and replace it with "Transfer-Encoding: chunked". So,.. Eric D. Larson from SUN has wrote a mysterious article ( http://developers.sun.com/techtopics/mobility/midp/questions/chunking/ ), which left huge spaces in understanding this. What`s exactly the WTK doing here? All message-bodys greater than 2KB are forced to split to chunks. But how does the WTK exactly do this? Is there a BUG in WTK?
    As RFC states: chunks must divided with 2 length bytes etc. But the WTK does not do that. It only breaks up the body into chunks and replaces some header! I have tested several servers which are using HTTP/1.1, none of them was able to handle WTKs Requests... But if you are using other Emulators, for e.g. from Nokia (6230, 6230i) then everything works fine, but of course Nokia is sending out no chunks ;-))
    So to add some serious questions:
    1. Do I have do set some special headers if I have to deal with chunked requests? Server has to understand it... Or does WTK correctly and I have to use Tomcat only ;-)
    2. Is there a way to force a midlet to use HTTP/1.0? setRequestProperty("Version", "HTTP/1.0") seems to be ignored.
    3. Does anybody ever sent Bytes >2KB using HTTP/1.1 succesfully to a standard server??
    Hope that someone can help...!

    chunked should go just fine.
    Forget the Content-Length. Never ever set it with a script it you know chunked is used.
    Then: just read the api cods:
    HttpConnection c = null;
             InputStream is = null;
             try {
                 c = (HttpConnection)Connector.open(url);
                 // Getting the InputStream will open the connection
                 // and read the HTTP headers. They are stored until
                 // requested.
                 is = c.openInputStream();
                 // Get the ContentType
                 String type = c.getType();
                 // Get the length and process the data
                 int len = (int)c.getLength();
                 if (len > 0) {
                     byte[] data = new byte[len];
                     int actual = is.read(data);
                 } else {
                     int ch;
                     while ((ch = is.read()) != -1) {
             } finally {
                 if (is != null)
                     is.close();
                 if (c != null)
                     c.close();
             }Should work just fine!

  • HT4759 How does one request a refund for an iCloud account you don't want. There seems to be no easy way of doing so unless I pay 20 bucks to speak with someon

    I am a relatively new Apple user and I purchased an iCloud account in November and then another one in December, thinking that I needed an account for each of my devices (3).  When I found out this was the case I tried to reply to the email confirmation address for a refund and it came back as undeliverable. Tried to contact support but in order to talk to anybody I had to pay 20 dollars!! Why is it so hard to buy into it but oh so hard to get a refund?

    '''Again, when I set my DNS server to automatically detect the servers both problems disappear and I have no issues at all.'''
    IMO opendns is either doing this on purpose (unlikely) or they're under some sort of attack/being used to attack the specific torrent sites although I'm open to other explanations. I believe using the automatic setting for DNS is using my own ISP's DNS servers (which again, work fine... but still...)
    I'd rather not use Google's public DNS servers as Google is to commercial these days and I think there's potential privacy issues.
    '''Again I have changed the setting for DNS servers back and forth several times to duplicate/verify the issue(s)... and the issues only happen with the opendns servers.'''

    There is a beta programme, but I'm not sure how you apply to be a tester.
    At a guess Creative pick people they know, or if they need to recruit they'll post on the forum.

  • How does someone get their Time Capsule serviced?

    Hi all,
    My 500gb Time Capsule has started to show the dreaded "Volume Can Not Be Mounted" error that I've seen mentioned on this message board a few times. This has been happening for both my computer (a MBP) and my fiance's computer (a MB.)
    I tried doing a quickformat of the disk, and then after that was complete, tried backing up again and got to about 1.5gb before it failed. The disk is again, not mountable.
    Thinking there might be a bad sector on the drive, or something similar, I tried doing a 1-pass secure erase, figuring that it would force the drive to go through every sector and mark bad sectors.
    Well, it's been 4 days now and that first pass of the secure delete is still going. I think my Time Capsule is just busted (the router aspect still works.)
    I tried going to the self-serve warranty pages, but after putting in all my info I'm presented with two options (both of which don't seem valid.) One was for the Genius Bar, but I can't seem to schedule a Time Capsule appointment online with them (only Mac, iPhone or iPod.) The other was for authorized service centers (all of them seem to be Carry-In Mac Only).
    Do I schedule a Mac appointment with the Genius Bar? Can I just do an online warranty repair/replace? Maybe single pass secure erases are supposed to take over 4 days? (I really doubt that...)
    Thanks!
    Nick

    I think you'll have to talk to Apple tech support (and they'll have you do all kinds of tests), or else you can go see a "genius," which would get you a new Time Capsule more quickly if yours is defective. Sign up for a "Mac" appointment.

  • How does someone get help?

    I have an issue with Digital Editions and the online community here has not been able to help.  I tried Adobe's online support chat and they refused to help me.  Any suggestion on where to go to get my issue with an Adobe products resolved?

    You will likely get better program help in a program forum
    This forum is only to discuss how the forums operate, not products
    If you will start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
    You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use

  • How does one request FiOS hardware to be installed?

    I am writing because I am trying to figure out who I need to contact to get FiOS installed in our building. Currently, everyone else at our street intersection has service except for us.
    Currently our only offerings are COX and Verizon VDSL, which is being marketed as "FiOS" but it is not fiber and the upload speeds are vastly inferior. (I need to upload 5-10 GB at a time, so VDSL and COX are not viable options).
    My friends who live accross the street current have full FiOS service, and they get full 50/50 service, so my guess is there is hardware missing in our building that Verizon has yet to install. (Do not see an ONT in the apartment, and probably means hardware also needs to be installed in the comm room downstairs)
    I already asked the leasing office and their management, and they said if Verizon wants to upgrade our building, please feel free, and they are willing to talk to Verizon reps and engineers regarding the matter.

    MechE wrote:
    Any practical reason why?
    There are two reasons why VDSL was installed instead of fiber.
    1)  Your landlord did not give permission for fiber to be run to each unit.
    2)  VZ engineering surveyed the building and determined running fiber to each unit was not practical.
    Although VZ is no longer installing VDSL, it is highly unlikely that VZ would replace the existing VDSL installation with fiber for the above reasons.

  • In case of emergency, how does someone access my contacts when my phone is locked?

    I have an iphone 5 and during CPR training it dawned on me that there was no way for anyone, other than me, to access my emergency contacts if I was in an accident.
    Is there a way to do this?

    I kind of like the lock screen idea though - they do not need to know anything about the make/model of the device, just swipe to unlock and the info is right there.
    Although I also always wear a medicalert neck pendant and I'd encourage anyone with a known serious or chronic medical condition to use medicalert and wear the id (calling their toll free number will get a first responder all sorts of information if needed).
    If you think of a better way, or just an alternate way to handle it, submit your feedback to Apple
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    Since they control the core features of iOS, this is something they could possible add to a future iOS release (maybe a "special" group in Contacts that could be set to show on the swipe, while everything else remains locked?).
