How does your "keeping tabs on tickets" structure work?

I use the priority entry in tickets.  Low, Med, or High.

Mine involves categories of tasks that need done immediately pretty much regardless of what is happening unless there's a ticket that falls into the critical category. However if the Immediate Category has too many tickets in it for too long a time,or if one of the Long Term tickets is coming due or has been open for a long time,it may become necessary to divert to the Long Term Category for a bit. Also once in a while I'll break out of the loop and send emails to ticketswhere I'm waiting for something(Props to the Spiceworks team for this feature it skips a lot of drama!)

  • How does your entity, or entities you have worked with, manage data for their dev/quality/cert environments?

Background- We have development and certificiation environments for SAP changes. These environments are kept in sync by ensuring that we adhere to a progression for configuration changes- they always move thru the same dev, quality, ceritfication, production process with testing at each phase.
As a business user, a challenge I encounter is having production type data available in the dev/qual/cert environments so that I can adequately test changes.  We refresh our environments periodically to a copy of production, including data.  After the refresh, no new data goes to these environments, only test data as entered by individual users and testers.  This means that tests performed soon after a refresh have a lot of relevent production data to use for testing, but as we move further thru the year, the data is less and less avialable and less relevant.
Some of our changes are impacted by volume, but due to how we handle our environments, volume impacts are difficult to test or asess.
How do you manage production-like data for your dev/qual/cert environments? Do you encounter this same issue or have you found a solution?
    Thank you!

Thanks for your comments, it is clear you understand my plight.  The trouble is fully understanding what Apps and App Features are transferring data in the background any time you happen to turn WiFi to on (even if you have had it off most of the day or night).  Obviously things like Location Services can constantly be sending and receiving data from my iPhone without any action on my part.  Also if you have things like photo backup on the iCloud then each time you take a photo you are sending a copy out.  All App Updates if set to Automatic also can add up to quite a bit of Data.  Reading the News on AP or scrolling through FB News Feed is actually adding up to a lot of Data.  There could be other culprits that I am not even thinking of.  I don't want to turn Apps like Find My Phone off or turn iCloud off due to loosing the value of such a program entirely.  Again thanks for your quick response.

  • How can I keep tabs on the file size when importing from the Event Library into a Project? I want to ensure the movie will fit onto a 4.7Gb disc?

How can I keep tabs on the file size when importing from the Event Library into a Project? I want to ensure the movie will fit onto a 4.7Gb disc?

iDVD does not care about file sizes, as it compresses the file to the standard DVD format of mpeg2.
It only cares about length i.e. max 2 hours including titles etc.
    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/11417.html
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned abo
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

  • How does DIAdem keep track of which version is active when multiple versions are installed?

I need a way to find out which version of DIAdem is active, without creating an automation reference. How does DIAdem keep track of this? I don't think it's through the registry as far as I can tell. Thanks.

    Hi,
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "version of DIAdem is active". If you are trying to reference DIAdem from an external program, you will need to use an automation reference. Besides this case, I am not sure what you are referring to.

how does one keep the photo description attached to a photo in iphoto when that photo copies to a disc or flash drive?
the metadata transfers ok, it is the description of that photo that does not transfer.

Use the File -> Export command and note the settings to write the metadata to the file on export.

Moving the hosting alone, should not impact the seo. Changing the site host means changing the locations of file, so no impact. However, I found a video which will help to understand this

  • CSS: How does DNS Scripted Keepalive (ap-kal-dns) work?

    Hello everyone,
I have a question about how does DNS Scripted Keepalive (ap-kal-dns) work on CSS 11503.
According to the "Using the CSS Scripting Language",
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/app_ntwk_services/data_center_app_services/css11500series/v7.50/configuration/administration/guide/Scripts.html
    it says
Since we just want to see if the DNS server is alive we will send a simple DNS Query.  This query is hard coded in hexadecimal and sent raw to the DNS server.
    and
Receive some unexplained response. We don't care what it is because an unstable DNS server or a non-existent one would probably not send ! us any data back at all.
    but it also says
Failure Upon: 1. Not resolving the host's IP from the domain name
And according to the "How to Configure the CSS to Load Balance DNS Servers and Use the DNS Scripted Keepalives",
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/contnetw/ps789/products_configuration_example09186a00801d015a.shtml
    it says
The script is hard-coded to resolve www.cisco.com.  It does not matter if the DNS server can resolve this address or not, as long as a DNS response comes back that the service is alive. This keepalive is only testing if a DNS server can respond to a query, not if it can resolve a specific name. The script queries from the CSS to DNS internal servers keep track of the availability of the DNS servers.
    but it also says
Access to Internet Domain Name System Root Servers is required for successful implementation of DNS scripted keepalives.
So I am confused whether DNS server has to resolve the host's IP address correctly for DNS query received from CSS or just needs to reply any response but not need to resolve it.
I would like to recap about my question.
Q1: Does DNS Scripted Keepalive (ap-kal-dns) send DNS query with cisco.com as DNS name by default?
Q2: Does DNS server has to resolve IP address of  cisco.com or just need to respond for DNS query with any response but not need to resolve IP address of cisco.com?
I understand I should get capture data and see how DNS scripted keepalive works, but I can not prepare lab environment to do it at the present.
    Your information would be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Shinichi

yes the query is for www.cisco.com and the script expect a reponse that contains the word cisco.
    Gilles.

  • Oracle Development Survey on Data Warehouses: How Does Yours Compare?

At the start of most data warehouse projects, or even during a project, I am sure you as customers try to find answers to the following questions to help you plan and manage your environments:
    * Where can I find trend and comparison information to help me plan for future growth of my data warehouse?
    * How many cpu's do other customers use per terabyte?
    * How many partitions are typically used in large tables? How many indexes?
    * How much should I allocate for memory for buffer cache?
    * How does my warehouse compare to others of similar and larger scale?
The data warehouse development team, here at Oracle, would like to help provide answers to these questions. However, to do this we need your help. If you have an existing data warehouse environment, we would like to obtain more technical information about your environment(s) by running a simple measurement script and returning the output files to us, here at Oracle. This will allow our developers to provide comprehensive documents that explain best practices and get a better understanding of which features our customers use the most. This will also allow you as Customers, to benchmark your environments compared to other customers’ environments.
From a Company perspective we are also interested to get feedback on features we have added to the database, are these features used, how are they used etc. For example we are keen to understand:
    * Which initialization parameters are most frequently used at what values?
    * How many Oracle data warehouses run on RAC? on single nodes?
    * Is there a trend one-way or the other, especially as data volumes increase?
    * Does this change with newer releases of the database?
All results from these scripts will be held confidential. No customers will be mentioned by name; only summaries and trends will be reported (e.g., “X percent of tables are partitioned and Y percent are indexed in data warehouses that are Z terabytes and larger in size.” or “X percent of Oracle9i and Y percent of Oracle10g data warehouses surveyed run RAC”). Results will be written up as a summarized report. Every participating customer will receive a copy of the report.
Terabyte and larger DW are the primary interest, but information on any data warehouse environment is useful. We would like to have as many customers as possible submit results, ideally by the end of this week. However, this will be an on going process so regular feedback after this week is extremely useful.
To help our developers and product management team please download and run the DW measurement script kit from OTN which is available from the following link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/db/10g/dw_survey_0206.html
Please return the script outputs using the link shown on the above web page, see the FAQ section, or alternatively mail them directly to me: [email protected].

Hi Guys, just a quick question. when we have a primary key on 4 coloumns and we have, say 20 million rows and we want to add one extra row. How does oracle check whether the data on the primary key is unique to the record being added compared to the 20 million rows. Does it actually compare the record being added to all the rows present in the table?

  • 1099misc processing and corrections - How does your company deal with it

When we went live with SAP, we implemented a hybrid, SAP and in-house developed solution to handle the 1099misc reporting and corrections process.
We run a Z version of RFW1099M program to produce our initial file for 1099misc reporting
We run a home grown program that takes in the file produced by our Z version of RFW1099M and any other miscelleneous  files that we need to bring in for 1099misc and we produce the first cut of  the 1099misc SMART forms (we don't use the same form that SAP has as standard as we produce a pressure sealed one) and a 'final' file to go to the IRS.
This home grown program also allows us to modify the 'final' file to produce corrected 1099s.
The issue that we have going forward is that there are IRS changes for 2009 that require changes to the way 1099Misc corrections are reported.  I have ideas about how we can change our home grown process, but was wondering how everyone else deals with the process?
Why doesn't SAP have a comprehensive, integrated solution to 1099M reporting?  What does your company do?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Marianne

    Hi Marianne,
Report RFW1099M is fully compliant with requirements of IRS. Please also note that if you are on release 470 or higher you should use report RFIDYYWT instead of report RFW1099M, as SAP only supports report  RFW1099M in releases 46C and lower.
    with kind regards

  • How do you keep yourself well organized at work?

For documentation I use onenote which is synced to my owncloud server so i can use it when ever needed. I also use a mix of wundlerlist and spiceworks to keep track of all my to do items and issues and requests. My number one recommendation is find the best way that works for you documenting and make sure to stick to it. Writing or typing it down will make sure that you retain what you did that day!

I am about to begin my first IT career in about a week (as a help desk position.)
I'm very excited about my new career shift but am bit worried at the same time.
That being said, I have a question that I want to ask all of you guys out there who has been working in the field for a quiet some time.
How do you keep yourself well organized when it comes to documenting results?
I was taught to document EVERYTHING after you solve your assigned tickets.
Are there any great tools that could come in handy when you document things?
Plus, what would be a proper way of documenting?
Would you document every single steps you've tried to solve your ticket?
Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you!
