have you tried holding down the Control key when you selected it for installation? (See here for an explanation of what Gatekeeper does, and why this action works around it.)
If you look in the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, and select the General tab, you might have the “Allow apps downloaded from:” radio button set to either “Mac App Store” or “Mac App Store and identified developers”, which could explain why you’d received that message. -

Hey, I know there are other posts on what enclosure you can use and if it's a possibility, but I haven't seen any that tell me how I get OS X on the SSD without a disc? Can I download the installer on a flash drive somehow? Also, I am wondering if this really is a good idea, using my Macbook Pro's HDD for a backup HDD, instead of buying one? I have no use for it anyway, if and when I get a new SSD. BTW, the HDD is the upgraded factory 500gb 7200rpm. Also, do you think it's smarter to have a bigger backup drive than internal drive? In other words, I would like to get a 1TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD, and my current HDD is only 500GB.... I am a musician and need a lot of storage for musical purposes. Get an externel enclosure at the same time.

Put the SSD in the externel enclosure and use something like Carbon Copy Cloner, to clone the internal drive and all it content to the SSD. Then swap them out.
Always good to have more than one backup. -

How did you download? Have you been using the Import panel?
How is the pop-up selector for the "Raw+Jpeg" set?
If you are importing raw+jpeg pairs, and you set this to (Use Jpeg as original), then you will see a little J on the thumbnail, otherwise a R.

Many apps are not completely removed if the .app file is trashed (which is what I believe you've done so far).
If you don't want to dig through the system to manually remove library files, I recommend the use of AppCleaner, which does the job for you. -

The easiest way, and it may work from scratch, is to share the folders/drives you want access to on your pc, noticing what are the default parameters (eg "workgroup" etc.).
Then, you can connect your mac directly by ethernet, for instance, and, in Finder, go to > Network, you should see the folders/drives. You may be asked to provide user/password.
Don't get confused by regular/crossed ethernet cable, as mac can cross by software, so a regular cable will be ok.
Anyway, either you isd modem has the ability to connect several devices (multiple ethernet sockets, or wifi), or you can buy a router, which isn't expansive. -

So you would have USB 2.0 ports on your machine.
But USB 3.0 and 2.0 are 'compaitble,' somewhat - you just won't be able to get the throughput of a USB 3.0 to USB 3.0 connection.
