You can use the redemption code at the App Store. (Not the Apple online store).
Launch the App Store. Select either Top Charts, Featured, or Categories at the top of the window then click Redeem under Quick Links on the right.
What OS X do you currently have installed?

Did you try to open teh fle by double-clicking its icon? If the file was made with an older version of Office, you may get that message. Try opeing PP and, from its "File" menu, see if you can open the ppt. I've foundthat often gets around that message and then yo ucan save the file from the newer version.
If that doesn't work, consider asking in the Microsoft Office: Mac forums here:

PowerPoint is not an Apple product and it seems a lot of people around here avoid Office.

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine.  Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer.  I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs.  Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it.  Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.

Go to the  menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

  • How do I download Mountain Lion on an old mac?

I have been relentlessly trying to update my mothers Mac. She has an older version of OS X, 10.5.8. I was attempting to download Mountain Lion, but I for the life of me could not get it to work. I have emailed Apple several times with no reply. How do I go about updating her mac to Yosemite?

Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.

    An Intel processor
An internal or external DVD drive, or DVD or CD Sharing
At least 1 GB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended)
A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer

To use Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended)
7 GB of available disk space
    2 GB of RAM
To install OS X  10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks (currently unavailable) or OS X 10.10 Yosemite.you need one of these Macs:

    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory (I strongly advise, at least, 4 GBs of RAM or more)
8 GB or more of available space
    Next,
If you run any older Mac software from the earlier PowerPC Macs, then none of this software will work with the newer OS X versions (10.7 and onward). OS X Snow Leopard had a magical and invisible PowerPC emulation application, called Rosetta, that worked seamlessly in the background that still allowed older PowerPC coded software to still operate in a Intel CPU Mac.
The use of Rosetta ended with OS X Snow Leopard as the Rosetta application was licensed to Apple, from a software company called Transitive, which got bought out, I believe, by IBM and Appe  could no longer secure their rights to continue to use Rosetta in later versions of OS X.
So, you would need to check to see if you have software on your Mac that maybe older than, say, 2006 or older.
Also, check for app compatibilty  here.
    http://roaringapps.com/
If you have any commercial antivirus installed and/or hard drive cleaning apps installed on your Mac, like MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, TuneUpMyMac, MacCleanse, etc. now would be a good time to completely uninstall this apps by doing a Google search to learn how to properly uninstall these types of apps.
These types of apps will only cause your Mac issues later after the install of the new OS X version and you will have to completely uninstall these types of apps later.
Once you have determined all of this, you should be able to find the latest versions of OS X by clicking on the Mac App Store icon in the OS X Dock and then login to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID and password and if you purchased a download code, input that code.
You can then begin the download and installation process of installing the newer versions of OS X from the Mac App Store.

  • How long does it take to download mountain lion

just downloading mountain lion on my imac ( MAC OS X 10.7.5) ---any idea how long it should take? its starting to look like its going to be slow...

That's around 1.6 MB/s or approximately. So it should take about one hour at that speed. However, your service speed is not necessarily the transfer speed between you and the Apple servers. Expect the actual time to be longer.

can anyone tell me how to restore my itunes library and playlists? After I downloaded mountain lion my library is missing and my devices can be synced to only one library ...the missing one

That .itl file actually is the library -- at least the critical part of it although the library is actually many files and folders.
Try starting iTunes and immediately hold down the option key.  When it asks, guide it to the .itl file.
It's really hard to say without being able to poke around your computer.  Upgrading should not delete the old library, but still it happens to the very, very few which is why we make backups before updating.  If the old library file is gone then so are your playlists.  You can always see if the following is of any use:

If you want to reinstall the original Mac OS X version that came with your computer, you need the Mac OS X DVD that came with the computer.
If you want to reinstall Mountain Lion, the installer creates a recovery partition to reinstall OS X and do some maintenance tasks. You can access to it pressing Command and R keys while your Mac is starting

  • How do I download Mountain Lion onto my other iMac, after the initial install?

I am wondering how to download Mountain Lion onto my second iMac, after the initial install.  I understand the purchase is for multiple computers, but I have completed the install on my first iMac.

Once you’ve purchased Mountain Lion, find the installer on your Mac. It’s called Install OS X Mountain Lion.app and it should have been downloaded to your main Applications folder (/Applications).
Right-click (or Control+click) the installer, and choose Show Package Contents from the resulting contextual menu.
In the folder that appears, open Contents, then open Shared Support; you’ll see a disk image file called InstallESD.dmg.
    Launch Disk Utility.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disk image into the bottom (empty area) of Disk Utility’s sidebar (on the left).
In Disk Utility, select InstallESD.dmg in the sidebar, and then click the Open button in the toolbar to mount the disk image’s volume in the Finder. The mounted volume is called Mac OS X Install ESD, and it also appears below InstallESD.dmg in Disk Utility.
Select Mac OS X Install ESD in Disk Utility’s sidebar, then click the Restore button in the main part of the window.
Drag the Mac OS X Install ESD icon into the Source field on the right (if it isn’t already there).
Connect to your Mac the properly formatted hard drive or flash drive you want to use for your bootable Mountain Lion installer.
In Disk Utility, find this destination drive in the left-hand sidebar and then drag it into the Destination field on the right. (If the destination drive has multiple partitions, just drag the partition you want to use as your bootable installer volume.) Warning: The next step will erase the destination drive or partition, so make sure it doesn’t contain any valuable data.
Click Restore, and then Erase in the dialog box that appears; if prompted, enter an admin-level username and password.

  • HT4759 how do i free up 4 gb of space so i can download mountain lion os x

what is the best way to free up 4 gb of space to download mountain lion os?

How much free space do you hafve on your MBA?  It's recommended to have a minimum of 10 GB of free space for optimal system and application performance, space needed for cache and virtual memory files.  If you don't have enought for the Mt. Lion download you're running is dangerous waters.
I suggest you get and an EHD and move your less needed files to it so you can achieve the 10 GB free space recommendation.

  • HT1277 Just downloaded mountain lion. We have 2 different e-mail accounts-how can they be separated when checking e-mail so you don't have to go thru both to get the ones you want.

Just downloaded mountain lion.  Have 2 different e-mail accounts but now they come in together.  How can they be separated like they were in snow leopard?

Mountain Lion, like Lion before it, now has a combined Inbox and there's no way to separate it as such, though if you click the disclosure triangle to the left of the Inbox icon, you can see individual Inboxes below the primary.
