How durable is the dock connector (charge port)

I saw many threads (also on other forums) about broken charge port in iPhone 3G. So I wonder how it looks in iPhone 4/4S.
Especially interesting for me is a situation, when I'm trying to connect the device to AC charger using 30 pin cable. Sometimes is needed to stretch the cable (which is already inside iPhone's port) because electric socket is far from table etc. I just want to prevent port in my iPhone from being broken (to be precise - that plastic part with pins seems susceptible to bend). Did You hear about any damages caused by 30 pin plug inserted to charge port?
Thanks in advance (and sorry for my english).

"sometimes is needed to stretch the cable because electric socket is far from table etc,"?
Right there is a good way to damage the port. The cable connection should never be under such strain.

  • How do you get sound through the dock connector to a PC or Mac?

Where I work they have blocked the Pandora website. (Along with just about every other online radio site.) They don't mind if we listen to music, as long as it's not streamed online through their network.
I have both a PC & a Mac on my desk.
What I would like to do is listen to my Pandora app from my iPhone by plugging the dock connector into a Mac or PC. This would keep the battery drain to a minimum & allow for better quality.
When I plug in the dock connector the phone starts charging & iTunes want's to sync. I can run the Pandora app, but no sound comes through the computer.
Does anyone know how to get the audio to come from the dock connector & play through the computers sound card?

    You have several choices:
    1. Composite AV Cable: has a dock connector on one end and USB, RCA line out and RCA composite video on the other. It also comes with an AC Adaptor.
    2. Component AV Cable: same as the Composite AV Cable but with RCA component video.
    3. Universal Dock: has a dock connector socket on it and a line out socket.
    4. iPhone 3G Dock or the (original iPhone Dock): same as the Universal Dock but designed just for the iPhone.
All you need is somewhere to plug the line out into.

  • Looking for a In-line dock connector charger or dock connector splitter

    Hi all,
I am looking for either a dock connector charger with a male & female connector, or a dock connector splitter to be able to charge my handset while using a Bluetooth A2DP Audio transmitter. I know this might not matter in a few months due to the 3.0 firmware, but for now, I have this need.
I like to listen to music while working, and I hate being tethered by headphone wires. My company doesn't want us to stream audio at work as it uses up bandwidth, so I use my iPhone with the adapter to broadcast to a Bluetooth stereo headset. Unfortunately, I cannot use the charger and the adapter at the same time, because they use the same dock connector port. This means, my battery drains at a pretty hefty pace, due to the running application and the adapter. What I need is the ability to have both the adapter and the charger plugged into the phone at the same time. I cannot be the only one with this problem. Does anyone out there have a solution?
    Thanks.
    ---Ken

There are some bluetooth adaptors around that have a "pass-through" connector for the dock connector but i don't know how compatible they are with the iPhone. My friend uses a bluteooth transmittor that connects to the headphone jack so he can charge the iPhone in the car and listen to music at the same time. I'm betting the best option would be a trusty Google search for iPhone bluetooth or something of that ilk. Though considering you'd have to buy it i'd still probably recommend waiting till the 3.0 update depends how much in need you are i guess as come 3.0 the hardware would be a bit redundant.

  • Trouble with the dock connector??

I have no clue why my Ipod is doing this or if its the cord. Ill plug my Ipod into the computer, and nothing happens. If I lift the cord up right where it plugs into my ipod it'll start charging. So unless i use the case to wrap the cord up over the screen and hook the cord to the belt clip to keep a constant pull on it, it won't connect or charge. Though i have used another cord and i still had to do this to charge it.
Can anyone tell me why it's doing this? and how I would fix it?

Have you tried cleaning the dock connector slot on the iPod? You may have a problem with the dock connector and it needs replacement. If you have an Apple store nearby you might want to make an appointment at their Genius Bar.

  • HT204291 my ipad2 thinks it is airplaying to the Dock Connector

my ipad2 thinks it is airplaying to the Dock Connector any fix? I shut off bluetooth, reset all settings, blew out the dock connector with a can of air and held down the top switch and round button, already.

turn the volme bar down no you can see the orange bit, then lock the screen. Leav eyour phone/ipad/ipod for a few minutes then turn the volume bar up and go into your iphone/ipad and it should work, otherwise all youll have todo is give the charging point a good hard blow/compressed air which should also work.
if not book in and see the apple genuis'

Slow, intermittent.  Sometimes bootable sometime not. Odd behavior.
Sounds to me like a classic case of your HD failing.
Your SMART status may still show verified, with no errors on the Apple Hardware Test, Disk Utility shows no problems on Disk Repair-  this is of no help.
I trust you have a good back-up and a bootable clone.

  • How durable it the iPod touch 5 screen?

I'm always really afraid that I'll crack the screen if I drop my iPod touch 5. I see people with broken iPhone screens everyday, I'm and really afraid that one of these day I'm gonna end up with a shattered iPod. I know I should get a case, but it can't find any that aren't rubber. I HATE HATE HATE rubber cases. They always get stuck in my pocket and get gross lint all over them. What are some cases that are slim, plasticky, and are protective? The case I have now is a little too slim and it's basically only for  decoration,  because it wouldn't protect it at all in a drop. Plus it doesn't go over the edges so it causes the screen protector to peel. Do iPhone 5c cases fit on the iPod touch 5?
I also HATE screen protectors, they always get bubbles and dirt and dust under them and they just look awful. And the. They alway peel away in my pocket. How scratch resistant is the screen? How can I get my screen protector on PERFECT without bubble or peely edges? I know you can get them done at the apple store, but the nearest Apple store is 4 hours away from me. And apparently everyone in my town is too ghetto for apple stores idk.
So how durable IS the iPod exactly? Will keys in my pocket scratch it? Will this stupid buttons on the top of my jean pockets scratch it? Will dropping it Fromm approximately 5 feet onto a wood/tile floor crack the screen (case less)?

Hello. Skydiver pretty much said it all! Don't know that I have anything more other than another voice in the dark. You really should get the case that is meant for your iPod. The phones look like the iPod but they are different dimensions and buttons are in different places. The screens are glass and glass breaks and scratches, etc. Unfortunately the cases that protect the glass as well as the body of the iPod will have rubber and add some bulk. As for falls and drops, any fall / drop may do damage if it hits the road so to speak the right wrong way, even with a case, but your odds of survival without damage are better with a case.
I have a Griffin Survivor it's day glow yellow and black, makes it easy to find. One of the benefits of the rubber, makes holding on to my iPod easier, and it keeps the iPod from slipping falling out of my pocket when I bend over. The seals on the ports have kept mine clear of stuff in the ports and kept the weather off my iPod. I know this is starting to sound like a commercial but I'm happy with my case. I have beat the snot out of it, dropped it on rocks, spilled tea on it, been caught in the rain and snow, gone dirt biking, rolled it down a flight of stairs in a backpack with a glass bottle of tea, (remember the tea), the bottle broke, tea on everything, ruined everything, but just wiped the iPod off and still going, and worst of all... left it in the hands of a 6 year old, so far, so good. Something to note some cases state they are waterproof and some say they are watertight, waterproof means spill something on it or get wind driven rain on it your most likely protected (the Survivor is waterproof) but drop it in the toilet and your all wet. Watertight can go in the water and should be OK as long as the seals work. Sorry it's so long, Hope this helps, Good luck.

  • Loose magnetic connector/charger port......?

Hi, i have had my phone for about 7 months now. It's well looked after and has never been dropped or put in any water, thankfully. However I have just noticed that my magnetic connector/charger port seems/is loose. It's something that I don't use at all.
The other night i t just appeared to be sitting out further at one end so I pushed on it and it moved quite a bit. The other end doesn't move at all.
Has anyone else had this issue?

  • Does the dock connector give a signal OUT

I'm thinking of buying a CD head unit for my car, that plays MP3s/WMA and has a USB and Aux in. I understand that the headphone jack gives an inferior signal (it's slightly affected by circuitry or something). The seller has told me that the dock connector to USB will not only carry the music, but will charge the ipod.
So, this post title says it all, can the dock connector send the music to the USB?

There are a number if you look on ebay. The one I'm looking at is from Virtual Reality Soundlabs - the VRCD300. About £75 in the Uk or $100 in the US. The manufacturers tell me that the USB will plays Mp3s (nut not wma or aac) from the ipod.

  • How to stop the dock from showing all hidden images when hiding then showing applications

How to stop the dock from showing all hidden images when hiding then showing applications

It's not really something to snap a screen shot of. I believe it would need to be a video clip. For instance, when I am working on multiple images in Photoshop, I often need many images open at the same time, but I only have one image viewable and active. The hero image is active on screen while I hide the other images in the dock by hitting the yellow - button on the images. Then I "Hide" Photoshop to do something in the Finder. When I go back to Photoshop, every image that is hidden in the dock will pop open again in the active window, not just the image I was currently working on. I want these images to stay in the dock until I need them, no matter how many times I Hide the Show Photoshop.

  • Hairline In the Dock Connector

    Hi ,
I have just bought an Ipod nano 5th gen [brand new]and as soon as i was going to connect it to my pc for syncing i noticed a line in the middle of the dock connector of the ipod , the line starts from the inside and continues to the outside and returning back inside [looks like a mountain has been drawn]. This line or watever its called is on the silver plated surface of the D. Connector . My other 8gb version doesn't have any such thing.
Also it works fine and everything but that line...........
So what do u think i should and if u were in my place what would u do ?
    Thanks alot

  • How durable is the ipad with retina display glass?

How durable is the ipad with retina display glass?

No different from the glass in other iPads or other brand tablets. It may break if you drop the iPad, especially if you drop it on a corner. It can also break if you drop something heavy on the screen. Saw one post where a mom said it cracked when her kid sat on the screen.
Adding a screen protector will inhibit scratches, and may provide some protection in case of a drop. For max protection, get a wrap around cover.

Like the exact frieght charges and other charges are not known at PO level.
the exact value is known at LIV level.
secondly my client is preparing PO only once in a year and the friehgt charges and other packing , farwarding charges tend to change or will be known at time of bill passing.
    Pls help me out
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
At the time of doing LIV you can book those expeses as unplanned delivery cost in detail tab. If vendor is different than material vendor than put another vendor code in vendor field.
    Your problem will be solved
