How exactly does the new iCloud accessing feature work?

I have heard that the new firmware allows access to any hard drives connected to an AirPort through iCloud.
How exactly does this feature work? Will the files be accessible on the web? Will I be able to mount the hard drive remotely if my computer is logged in with the same iCloud account?
Please clarify, as I am considering buying now.

The "magic" behind iCloud for accessing either your AirPort Extreme/Time Capsule or your Mac from the Internet is Back to My Mac (BtMM). For reference, iCloud replaced MobileMe.
Here are a few links for more details around BtMM:

  • How exactly does the memory in Labview Fpga work

I am using a PXI 7853 and I for the past few days I have been playing around with using Memory blocks in the FPGA .
Now I am relatively new to Labview FPGA programming and hence I would be grateful if someone could provide me with clarifications on teh following :
    a) Since I am working on the development host computer when I initialize the Memory with the option of using a Memory initialization VI then how does it exactly happen in the backend .What I mean to ask is , when i change values of memory in the development computer and then compile the FPGA VI into the board ,is it that the Memory information is ported into the FPGA .If this is the case then in what form are the details initially saved in the development computer .
    b) Is it possible for me to use the initialization VI method to change the valuesi n memory while the FPGA VI is running .If not ,then would it make a difference if I stop the VI and then change the values using initialization method .Would that actually reflect on the FPGA or should I have to re compile the FPGA VI every time I change the memory values in the development computer using the 'Initialization VI method ( that is available as an option when we right click on the memory block in the project explorer window )
I tried testing with simulation for FPGA VI and found that when i try to change the memory values by running the initialization VI . a pop up comes that says that it is not possible as the FPGA VI is still in use .
Any light on this or guidance with links would be highly appreciated
    Cheers

When you compile the FPGA VI, it will include the values used to initialize the memory.
Are you asking what happens if you run the FPGA VI on your development computer, and your FPGA VI writes to the memory block, will the new values be included when you compile the FPGA VI? No, those values will be lost. The values that are included in the bitfile are the values that you used to initialize the memory block, as defined in the memory properties dialog box. The initial values are saved in the LabVIEW project file along with the memory block definition.

You need to recompile the FPGA in order to use new initialization values, because those values are part of the FPGA bitfile.

  • Are there Mail changes in Mavericks? Are the new iCloud keychain features like LastPass?

It's a pleasant surprise that Mavericks - OS X 10.9 was released as a free upgrade. There are some nice new features, like Finder tabs. I don't see any mention of Mail enhancements though. Are there any? I see tagging for files. Tagging for mail would be nice as cross-references.
What about the new iCloud keychain features. Does that do most of what LastPass does? Or is it just Safari specific?
    Anyway, off to upgrade!

  • Does the new Front row features the same Podcasts blue markers on TV show?

Does the new Front row features the same Podcasts blue markers on TV show? As I'm using Tiger right now with Front-Row V1 that only show the blue markers on the Podcasts.
Not only that, but it also doesn't update the TV Shows counters when using front-row.
Another thing I wonder, its about Apple TV 2 (or whatever the name is) I'm using my Mini-MAC to watch iTunes Podcasts, TV Shows, Movies and DVD movies on my living room. Should I just get an Apple TV instead? Or with Leopard I can make it work just like Apple TV but with less restrictions? Right now I'm using an external 400 gig HD.
    Thanks for any advice.

    Bump.

  • Does the new ipad 4g gps works without cell phone signal

does the new ipad 4g gps works without cell phone signal?

GPS has no need of a cell phone signal or wifi. The only reason you would need a data signal is to download maps to enable the GPS to show you where you are. If you installed an app which includes the mapping, for instance TomTom, you have no need for data reception.

Does the new version of Lightroom work with an old CS5 photoshop?

Yes - they will work together.

  • Does the new silent update feature in Flash player 11.2.202.228 need adobe air installed to update??

This is for IE8 on a Vista 32 bit machine.
Also, when it automatically updates does it add things like the promotional Google toolbar and such?

AIR is not required for the new silent update feature.  You also won't ever have third party applications added without first being allowed to opt out.

  • How well does the Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse work in a Multiboot system?

After a couple of weeks with working with the Apple Magic Mouse in my Windows 8.1 Boot Camp environment, I have been unable to find a solution for the Slow Connection Times that I am experiencing.  Takes up to a minute before the AMM is able to connect and I can use in the Windows 8.1 system.  (Yes, Bluetooth Collaboration is Enabled.)  So I am now wondering if I need to look for a different mouse and return the Apple Magic Mouse.  Anyone have experience with using the Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse in both the MAC OSX and Windows 8.1 (under Boot Camp) environments.
How quickly does the Logitech connect to bluetooth on the Windows 8.1 side?
How much does the Logitech utilize the same gestures as in the Apple Magic Mouse in Mac OSX?
Anyone use or own this Ultrathin Touch Mouse?

Do you have a Mighty Mouse already? I don't think Apple sells the Mighty Mouse anymore.
If you're looking at purchasing a new mouse from Apple, you'd be getting the Magic Mouse, which is a multi-touch capable mouse. It's a really great mouse; I use one with our 21.5" iMac all the time. Respectable battery life, and it tracks much nicer than our older (wired) Apple Pro Mouse. No lag, no interference, nothing with it. We have multiple cordless phones (including a base station about 18" from the mouse and computer) and there is never interference. It tracks as well or better than a wired mouse.

  • How exactly does the shotlist feature work?

I have finished my script and would now like to create a shotlist. I have noticed in the film script mode, the possibility to add a SHOT. however when I do this it wants to change the formatting of the entire script. I am not sure what is going on here. Does anyone already know how this feature works?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    cheers

That might be the case but there are still plenty of 'traditional' workflows,
so if you need to conform to their way of working you'll need it.
For me it's a mix between freewheeling (can also end in a really big mess) and
more controlled traditional way of doing things (usually when money/time
situation is a little easier and depending on production company).
So maybe a feature for 2.0?

Avid has the workflow, don't know how many really use it in that integrated
way but I do know on long form projects the editor usually asks for the
    continuity notes.
    > Wouldn't it be better if this

    Yes in an ideal situation.
However, how does it work when a tool like On Location is not available?
In that case I still like the lined script metaphor...
If it's too cluttered could you not implement a feature to optionally turn
on/off the lines once you constructed the shot list?
I'm also referring to prep when a director does a shot list before the
shoot (not merely the lining traditionally done by the continuity supervisor).
I also realize that the lining method only works when your script is more
or less finished (there we go again)... So flexibility is the key :-).

Nice if it works for them.
I've also seen this used where the wide shots were laid out at the bottom
and the closer shots near the top and that was supposed to correspond to
the emotional high points in the story.  Whatever works.

    Will test.

  • How does the new HTML5 video Support work? and what are the limitations?

So the new Edge has been relased along with many new features including HTML5 video support So along with the new feature here are a few new questions!
How does Edge load the Video? is it fully preloaded before Edge shows the content ? Or is it more of a "youtube" pregressive load while playing?
    Or can we choose?
What is the recommended video file size  example 4mb ?
How does edge deal with browsers that only support .ogg or .webm instead of mp4?
How is the support on ISO & tablets? load times, "lag" etc?

When you import an audio or video file a group is created for you. You can import media with the same name(videosample.ogv; videosample.mp4) to this group for ensuring browser compatibility. The corresponding format will be chosen depending on the browser that loads the composition.
Regarding WebM format - You can also add a webm file in your composition; However since this is a royalty format, Animate will not show a live preview inside the Authoring tool. If you browser supports this then it will definitely play fine on browser preview.
You can take a look at the In-app Video lesson which is available to you in the lesson panel for more details on how this works.
And yes you have pre-load options for HTML5 Video too, however progressive download is not available. You will need to use scripting using JS for getting this functionality.
Hope this helps and do try this out.

  • How to modify the new mask/track feature after you've left the clip?

After you've created an ellipse or polygon mask with the new filter feature, positioned it where you want it in the Program panel, then gone on to other editing, how do you later come back and grab that mask to move it's position?
Clicking on it in the Program panel just grabs the entire image, not just the mask.  Highlightingt the mask in the Effect Controls panel doesn't seem to work either.
Any feedback would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Highlightingt the mask in the Effect Controls panel doesn't seem to work either.
That is the way to select the mask.
Restart computer, restart Premiere while holding down shift+alt until welcome screen.
    See if that will help.

  • Extending a network and the new guest access feature

    Hi-
Currently, I have 3 of the 802.11n Airport Extremes—One creating the network, and two extending the network.
I would like to get the new feature that allows you to setup guest access---
My question: Will I be able to purchase ONE of the new Airports, setup guest access and extend it using the older Airports, or will I have to buy three of the new Airports to make this work….
Thanks for any help or advice!

It would seem almost certain that the older AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) would not extend both the normal network and the guest access network. You should be able to extend the normal network.

  • How exactly does the trade in for iPhone 6 work?

Hi! I have had an iPhone 4 for quite some time and really need to upgrade. Would love for my upgrade to be with the latest model. The trade in sounded great since it would essentially be getting a new phone for free. I was just not completely sure how it works.
First part of question: Do I have to pay out of pocket the cost for upgrading to a new iPhone 6 and then I will essentially be reimbursed for my trade in with the gift card?  Or do I trade in the phone, get the gift card and then use it to purchase the new phone?
    Second:
I currently have a phone that has the screen incredibly cracked and damaged from a recent accident.  The phone works, but I did receive a new iPhone 4 to replace it since I had insurance on it.  I have yet to activate the new phone since I heard about this trade in and the new iPhone 6 coming out. Would I be able to trade in the completely new phone I have received to get the gift card even though I haven't used it? would I only be able to send in the damaged one only? Or could I send in both?
    Third:
Is this something that could be done in store instead of online? If so what would the process be for that?
    Fourth:
Would this change my current plan in terms of cost per month?
Thank you! Hope to hear back soon.
