my db is in 10.2.0.4Yes. Fairly easy - but there are functionality and security issues that must be considered.
Executing remote shell scripts are the easiest done using ssh and RSA key authentication. On server A, in the oracle user, you need to generate a RSA key for the account using "+ssh-keygen -t rsa+".
A private and public key will be generated in the +/home/oracle/.ssh+ directory. The contents of the public key needs to be copy and pasted into the oracle account on server B, into file +/home/oracle/.ssh/authorized_keys+.
Next you need to accept the signature of server B on server A (thiswill be stored in A in +/home/oracle/.ssh/known_hosts+ ). Simply ssh from A to B using command "+ssh oracle@B+" and accept the signature. The ssh attempt should work and not prompt for a password as RSA authentication is used (server B trust server A and accepts its private key as authentication).
Now you can execute the remote script (fully automated in the background) as follows: ssh oracle@B /software/scripts/foo.sh".
The next step is running this command from within the Oracle instance on A - this can be done using a custom Java stored proc (for accessing the command line) or via +DBMS_SCHEDULER+ as an external program.

  • How to write a shell script to execute a procedure with out parameter

    Hi,
    How to write a shell script to execute a procedure with out parameter.
    here is my procedure
    PROCEDURE sample(invar1 VARCHAR2,
    invar2 VARCHAR2,
    invar3 VARCHAR2,
    invar4 VARCHAR2,
    ecode out number);
    Any example really helpfull
    Thanks in advance

    Or if we're passing values in, maybe something like:
    Test procedure:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE p (myin IN VARCHAR2, myout OUT VARCHAR2)
    AS
    BEGIN
        myout :=
            CASE myin
                WHEN 'A' THEN 'APPLE'
                WHEN 'B' THEN 'BANANA'
                ELSE 'STARFRUIT'
            END;
    END;Shell script:
    #!/bin/bash
    my_shell_variable=$1
    unset ORACLE_PATH
    sqlplus -s un/pw@db <<-EOF
    set feedback off pause off
    set pagesize 0
    set autoprint off
    VAR out varchar2(30)
    VAR myin varchar2(30)
    exec :myin := '${my_shell_variable}'
    BEGIN
      p(:myin, :out);
    END;
    print out
    exit
    EOFTest:
    /Users/williamr: xx A
    APPLE
    /Users/williamr: xx B
    BANANA
    /Users/williamr: xx
    STARFRUITObviously in a real script you would not hardcode the password or let it show in a "ps" listing.

  • How to call a shell script via ODI

    Hi,
    I need suggestion on following issues:
    1) How to call a shell script via ODI?.. I tried using OSCommand utility .inspite of the execution being successful the data is not written into the new file in the desired format. After processing new file is created in the mentioned location but its empty.
    2) I'm calling a procedure in ODI to load data into my fact. But once the fact gets loaded i want to update the log details (num of rows processed,num of rows inserted,num of rows rejected etc) in my log table. I'm planning to use a proc for updating but need to know from where can i find these details. Is there a table in work rep which gives me these info like how we get if we execute an interface.?
    Please help me out.. Its urgent
    Regards
    Surabhi

    Hello,
    Question 1 appears a little vague, please elaborate. If you're looking to capture a return value from the command execution, you will need to pipe the return value to a file, then read from there.
    The execution information is stored in the SNP_STEP_LOG table in the Work Repository. You will need to do a series of joins to retrieve the exact table that was updated. Good luck with this...

  • Error while trying to execute a unix shell script from java program

    Hi
    I have written a program to execute a unix shell script in a remote machine. I am using J2ssh libraries to estabilish the session connection with the remote box.The program is successfully able to connect and authenticate with the box.
    The runtime .exec() is been implemented to execute the shell script.I have given below the code snippet.
    try {
         File file_location = new File("/usr/bin/");
         String file_location1 = "/opt/app/Hyperion/scripts/daily";
         String a_mib_name = "test.sh";
         String cmd[] = new String[] {"/usr/bin/bash", file_location1, a_mib_name};
         Runtime rtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
         Process p = rtime.exec(cmd, null, file_location);
    System.out.println( "Connected to the server1" );
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
    String line = br.readLine();
    while(line !=null)
    System.out.println(line);
    line = br.readLine();
    br.close();
    p.getErrorStream ().close ();
    p.getOutputStream().close();
    int retVal = p.waitFor();
    System.out.println("wait " + retVal);
    //session.executeCommand("ls");
    catch (IOException ex) {
    I get an error message

    The script is sh /tmp/pub/alka/test.sh /tmp/pub/alka/abc/xyz/ul ul
    The script when run from the server, gives no errors. But when ran using rthe above method in java, gives errors as follows,

  • How to run unix shell script from java web applet

    hi all
    i have created one java applet. my apache web server is on unix server.
    i have created one shell script in same directory where my .class and .htm files reside...
    how to run this shell script from applet? it should search this .sh file on server and not on the client browser machine...
    thanks in advance

    I suppose you could make the shell script into a CGI, configure the server to execute CGIs, and then make the applet open the URL of that CGI.

  • Execute a unix shell script from forms9i

    Hi ,
    I would like to execute a unix shell script form a form when they pressed a button. The forms server is on Linux machine. I tried but when I pressed the button nothings happen. Could some one please help me how I could get working.
    Is there is a way I could execute the unix shell script from PL/SQL proceudre or package.
    Please some one help me.
    Bain

    You would not expect to see anything happening because the
    script cannot directly send output to the web form. However, you can get it to write output to a file and use web.show_document in the form after the host command to display the file and see the output.

  • How do you pass shell scripts with cocoa?

    How do you pass shell scripts with cocoa?

    You asked for more detail -- I don't know if this is what you were referring to or not, but here's a little more detail on how to use the system() function if that's what you wanted to know.
    As etresoft mentioned, the system() function can be useful for the kind of thing you are talking about. You will need to write the following statement at the top of your code if you want to use it:
    #include <stdlib.h>
    To use the system() function, simply put the command as you would write it in the Terminal between double quotes between the parenthesis. For example, something as simple as:
    system("ls");
    I don't what the practical use of the above statement would be, but it will run, and that's the general format for the system() function. So just put between the quotes whatever command you want to send.
    Hope there was something helpful here.

  • Please help with executing the c-shell script by using the exe class

    I try to use the exec class to execute a c-shell script in my java gui program like this. But I don't get anything when clicking on the start button.
    here is my code:
    Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
    r.exec("./DDMReportEvents");
    ./DDMReportEvents is the name of the c-shell script.

    I think Runtime.exec runs DOS batch files, but not Unix shell scripts.
    Try:
    r.exec("csh -c ./DDMReportEvents");
    to get the shell to run the shell script.

  • How to run a shell script from the GUI?

    This is probably a dumb question...
    How do I run a shell script from the GUI? I've been told to double click it but when I do, it opens as a text file.

    The behavior you describe is that used by the KDE and GNOME desktops of Linux.
    Under OS X, if you make a script then mark it as executable, double-clicking on it in the Finder will not execute it. Actually, it uses a rather complex algorithm ([summarized here|http://arstechnica.com/reviews/2q00/macos-qna/macos-x-qa-2.html]) to determine what to do with it. This is implemented in Mac OS X' LaunchServices framework (incidentally, the associations are cached in /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices*.csstore and ~/Library/Caches/com.apple/LaunchServices*.csstore). You can read the details in the developer docs about LaunchServices.
    Anyway, in short, the suffix '.command' is a built-in type in the LaunchServices network that identifies a shell script. If you run
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServic es.framework/Support/lsregister -dump
    ... it will tell you as much.

  • Remote shell script

    Hi Odigurus,
    I am a newbee to ODI application and i am trying to run a script in Unix box2 from the Windows box.
    Windows box - where ODI is installed
    Unix box1 - where master repository is installed
    Unix box2 - where the agent is installed and running, also where shell script needs to be executed from windows.
    Physical agent test goes successful from the windows to unix box2.
    When i try to execute the OS command from windows on to Unix box2 i get an error
    "Cannot start execution"
    java.lang.Execution:Error during Session launching: Error during Session Preparation : Oracle Data Integrator Timeout: connection Timeout: Connection URL
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@Unix box1:<port>:<SID> and user <Mast REP>.
    The above error tells me that it goes and connects to Unix Box1, is it because my ODIPARAMS.BAT files has those parameters, do i need to change those to point it to Unix Box2?
    Can somebody please help me figure out what am i doing wrong here.
    Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi,
    Could you tell me how were you able to resolve he issue please? I too have the same scenario.
    Your help in this is very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • How to do multiple shell scripts in AppleScript

    I got some solutions from previous posts on how to run sudo in Applescript, but there is still some minor syntax issues when I try to get to the destination directory. Usually in shell script I just type
    cd directory-destination
    in several lines to batch process those commands, but when I work with applescript, if I do do shell script for every "cd" command, instead of getting an overall result, I would get intermediate results individually.
    I read doc and learned that there might be a way to put commands together by using the & sign?
    Message was edited by: ttback

    An individual do shell script command runs in its own shell, so to perform multiple commands within that shell you need to combine them into a single statement. You can use the ampersand '&' operator to concatenate text strings, and the semicolon ';' to separate the commands, for example:set theFolder to "/Applications"
    do shell script "cd " & theFolder & "; ls -l ."See the technical note do shell script in AppleScript.
