How far away form...

How far away from a metal object (radiator) does the AE have to be to stop interference.

It is a line-of-sight issue (no interfering object on a line between the two), not a proximity issue. Raise the AE up above the radiator and the interference should disappear. As soon as I moved it to a receptacle that wasn't directly behind a cast tub, voila!

  • How far away from base station can I get with Wi-Fi?

I want to know how far away from my base station I can get with my iPod touch's Wi-Fi. I can't test it out since it is still shipping, but I would like to know, since I will be travelling a lot with it. I know you can connect it to hotels, restaurants, etc. that have Wi-Fi, but say there's none of them around (since I live in central Nebraska). How far do you really think I can go?

I hope you only 'travel' around your house. That's about as far as you can go before losing your wifi connection. Alright, might work in the backyard. Seriously, check the range of your router. Mine covers 200 feet, more than enough for my apartment. Certainly not enough to travel and remain connected.

  • How far away from a cabinet is deemed 'too far' fo...

    Hi
    Can anyone answer this question:
How how far is too far away from a cabinet to get Infinity ?
    Thanks
    Ollie

    Hi again ollie44,
BT Retail who offers FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) BT Infinity which is their brandname for fibre broadband, to customers who are estimated 15mbps or above for FTTC.
You can still get FTTC fibre broadband from BT Retail if you are estimated under 15mbps for FTTC though the product is called Faster Unlimited broadband.
FTTC fibre broadband currently enables a upto 80mbps broadband service, though this will depend on how far away you are from the FTTC cabinet and the quality of your landline.
FTTC fibre broadband uses VDSL or VDSL2 signals that travel from the FTTC cabinet to your property via the existing copper (sometimes aluminium) line. The further away you are from your FTTC cabinet the slower the fibre FTTC broadband will be.
However VDSL/2 signals used for FTTC broadband connection degrade far quicker in terms of distance than conventional ADSL broadband signal do.
Generally speaking if your landline is over 1500 meters in length from the FTTC cabinet to your property then you may not be able to get BT Infinity as you may not be able to achieve over 15mbps from an FTTC service.
Here is a graph that shows the ADSL(G.DMT,ADSL2 and ADSL2+) and VDSL/2 (FTTC) signal with distance. Please be aware that all ADSL connections are depend on distance from local exchange, where as FTTC (VDSL/2) connections are depend on distance from your FTTC (DSLAM) cabinet. Though all connection types are also depend on line quality.

Jhey, I'm very interested in knowing where you can get this distance from SamKnows becuase as far as I am aware this information is not held with the OpenReach databases and the only way you can find out exactly is to have an OpenReach engineer come to you home and measure it with the test euipment they normally carry. It's also not on the standrad screen they use for installation or testing either.

  • How far away can you connect to the internet from Airport Extreme (802.11n)

How far can i take my Laptop away from Airport Extreme (802.11n) and still have internet connection

    According to:
    http://www.apple.com/au/airportexpress/
They claim the Extreme has a 45m range:
"Suppose you want to connect to the Internet with your PowerBook in an area that lies beyond the 45 metre range of your AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station"
Will you be using all N devices? G?, B? or a combination?

  • No Adobe Flash yet?  How far away is this???

I'm very new to the iPhone world, and jumped in by preordering the 3gS about two weeks early. Now, I'm finding that Safari has limitations...bummer. I'm also bummed that I can't download Adobe Flashplayer...which is intergal to a lot of content on the WWW. How can we lobby Apple to get hot on fixing this so we can get flashplayer on our iphones? If enough voices rasie up, they may consider making this fix a higher priority! Does anyone know a good email/phone number to contact Apple so our voices are heard together and not randomly all over the place?

Thanks...I'm learning real quick about adapting to the iPhone world. While a lot of this stuff is really cool to me...just owning an iPhone since this past Friday, I think that once I get bored with it, I will run out of reasons to like it and keep using it. Oh well, lesson learned!
That said, if Apple/AT&T can get it together and make the iPhone something that can truely cover all aspects (phone/internet/text/data sharing...) then it will really be the best thing around. I say this because I have used numerous other phones (Ipaq, BlackJack, Blackjack II, RiM 3 types) and NONE of them cover the full spectrum of usage. I find it funny that some commentary about the iPhone calls it a computer with phone capabilities...rubbish! It's still a cell phone that has the ability to touch the internet realm, but not run through it!

  • How far away is the eyedropper fix?  This is getting really bad.

I just went to do some colour-correction on one of four TVC's we are getting out this afternoon, and realised I had installed Lion, and the eyedropper won't work on anything!!!   I can't select a colour on any colour-correction tools in Premiere, whether it be native CS CC, Colorista or Boris.  This is a really serious bug.   I'm going to have to work an alternative fix this afternoon, but when will this be fixed please?

  • How far must you stand to record a person on video camera on the Ipad Air 2?

How far away must you stand to record a 6 foot person on a Ipad Air 2?

Experiment. Pick a wall near you, guestimate how tall 6 feet is (for me I can go about 8 inches above my head), step back until you get your whole 'person' in the frame.
I'm going to guess about 8 feet away, give or take. Of course anything beyond that you'll still have the whole person in the frame, just smaller.
However if you want them to speak and have the iPad's mic to pick it up well, the closer you are and quieter the room the better.

  • How do I go directly from one frame to another particular frame which is far away in the time line? (e.g the two frames are separated by 100 frames)

How do I go directly from one frame to another particular frame which is far away in the time line? (e.g the two frames are separated by 100 frames). I mean, is it possible to take the playhead from one frame to another frame directly which is 100 frames away in the time line? Thanks for any reply.

In the Timeline, go to the first frame and press M to put a marker on it. Go to the other frame you want to jump to and put a marker on that one too.
Now press Ctrl+Semicolon to go to the previous marker - or Ctrl+Comma to go to the next marker.

  • Want Time Capsule far away from my modem. How to add to existing Airport?

    Hi,
I have a dome-shaped Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS) connected to a Comcast modem. I want to leave it as it is, but I would like my Time Capsule (TC), to be located far away from the modem, to "join" or "extend" that AEBS network.
I had it set up that way at one point, but then switched out the TC drive to a new 2 TB and then connected it directly through Ethernet to my two MacBooks to back them up more quickly. (FYI, I upgrade MB drives a lot and they aren't always recognized immediately by the TC, sometimes have to delete a sparsebundle and start a new backup--why I have to do that for it to work sometimes, no idea). But after backing up my new MB drives over Ethernet, I can't now for the life of me seem to get both the AEBS and TC onto one AEBS network. My Airport Express joins the AEBS just fine to play music, but not the TC anymore. It only gives me the "extend" option and then tells me that my AEBS "cannot be extended."
My dome-shaped AEBS lists version 5.7 and was WEP 128 secured, but I tried WPA2 Personal most recently as the TC didn't list a WEP 128 option in Airport Utility. The TC lists version 7.4.2. I have the AEBS set to b/g and the TC to its full range.
I know how to use my Mac pretty well, but I only mess with setting up Airports or TCs once a year at the most. I don't know how all of the moving parts work or work together. Various dialogue boxes will confuse the ** out of me. YET when setting up the TC originally somehow there was an option to have the TC "join" the AEBS network, not sure if since updates have removed that ability. Only since replacing the drive and turning off the TCs wireless settings to make it work over Ethernet, has the TC no longer been willing to join the AEBS.
I don't want to be a networking master, I just want to be able to configure my network quickly and easily so my less valuable (to me) AEBS will be in my living room with my modem while my entire electronic life is backed up safely in the attic to my TC that stay out of sight from thieves, etc. You'd think Apple would have built-in this ability MUCH more easily than they have! What's the point of having your only backup sitting right in the living room in the middle of all products you're backing up? If your laptops are valuable enough to steal, so is the shiny white Apple box underneath your TV. And then you have no data, no photos, no memories.
OK, done editorializing. Anyone know how to walk me through getting this BACKWARDS TC/Airport setup running? And anyone know how I could then revert to Ethernet if I want a faster connected backup sometime and then jump right back to my BACKWARDS wireless setup? Tremendously grateful for any help!

My Airport Express joins the AEBS just fine to play music, but not the TC anymore. It only gives me the "extend" option and then tells me that my AEBS "cannot be extended."
When configuring the TC with the AirPort Utility, you just need to hold down the Option key before making the selection in order to get access to the "Join a wireless network" choice.
First off, WEP is no longer considered secure, so it is highly recommended that you use either WPA or WPA2 for security. However, if you must use WEP, you would have to change the Radio Mode on the TC to one of the non-"n" choices in order to configure it for WEP 64- or 128-bit.
YET when setting up the TC originally somehow there was an option to have the TC "join" the AEBS network, not sure if since updates have removed that ability.
Again, holding down the Option key will provide this option. It was not removed with any of the firmware updates.

I shot a video using my iPad 2, and it is too far away from the subject. How do I zoom in and save the whole video like that? Thanks!

Sorry to be such a moron with this, but I just don't have much experience with this iPad.  I have had it for over a year and I just keep adding stuff to it and it has worked great.  Now that the memory is used up, I am trying to figure out how to free up space and not lose what I have paid for.
So, Step 1 is complete, as I have "Transferred" all of the purchases.
What is Step 2?  I unchecked the concert on the iTunes library, did a sync, but it's still on my iPad.
    Thanks again for the help!!!

  • IMovie 13 how do I change the speed of the Far Far Away title scrolling?

How do I change the scrolling speed of the Far Far Away wording?
    Thanks in advance!!

Thanks. I did try this and it slowed the scroll down. There is still a residual problem which is there is a certain amount of blank screen at the end. I thought slowing the scroll would fill this dead spot. By lengthening the duration of the title, the scroll is now slower, but the black screen has also lengthened. The current dead time is now the final 6 seconds of a 25 second title. Any help on cutting out the dead scrren time. If this were a straight video clip I would simply trim it away. Any way to get the scrolling text to fill more than 80% of the title duration?

  • Leopard DVD is far away. How to install XP without the leopard dvd?

I really need to use Autocad and Rhino on my Macpro, so Parallels or VMware fusion is not an option. I am already using VMware fusion on my Macbook pro, but VMware will not use 4g RAM of my Macpro which means it would be hard to run Rhino.
By the way, I am planning to buy Windows (I am sooooo ashamed to install that self-messed up OS on my Macpro. but so what,,, Autocad and Rhino do not run on Mac, and I need specifically the two programs). XP with sp2, sp3, or vista. which one is the best option?
Since my Macpro has only One 2.8GHZ Quad-Core Intel Xeon, there is no need to buy XP professional? (XP home doesn't support multi-processors, and XP Pro does, I guess?)

VMware Fusion uses only 512 RAM maximum, doesn't it? But you said it will use my entire 4GB RAM but only 2 cores. That's something different from what I've known.
If fusion really uses 4gm RAM of my mac pro, I don't really have to use Boot Camp. But most people who need to run heavy programs in Windows choose Boot Camp because it's the only way to use a Mac just like a PC, meaning that the XP uses the entire RAM memory.
XP will only use 2 GB of RAM, no matter how much the system has.
I just found out that Rhino doesn't really work on Vista. So vista is ruled out.
Only Vista 64-bit recognizes all system RAM.
