How fast and accuracy of the FPGA's clock reference

I may need to make a application as below, but the requested accuracy is around 10ns. Can FPGA help on it? I am new newphie on FPGA.
- Triggered by an external pulse and start a accurate number counter for a high frequency clock signal(Maybe 100MHz)
- Triggered by another external channel to stop the counter and lock the result.
- From the lock result, calculate the time duration from the 1st to 2nd trigger.
Thanks,

Hey Christian,
I wonder about the accuracy you have stated for the FPGA Clock. In reference to what time the accuracy can be given as 250 ps? When dealing with the accuracy of my counters, I always assumed that the accuracy is the same as the real time clock (200ppm / 35ppm). If the accuracy is 250ps per cycle, it would be equal to an error of 1 %... or 250 ppb in one second. Both does not occur realistic to me.
can you please speciify that information?
Thank you, Christian

  • How fast, and aproblematic  is the Quad core compared to duals/DP's????

    hi
should have one this saturday, with 4 GBS RAM
    yet
many different reviews are not all on the same page as to how fast this baby is.
1-is is worth the expense in terms of speed?
2-are there major problems with it that you think need fixing?
3-how does it compare to the DP 2.5 or 2.7 GHZ G5's
any other commendations, hints or negative attributes greatly appreciated
    thanks

One thing I can say is that if you already purchased one .. don't worry about it. Any worries you may have had .. I am sure you reasearched it deeply befor plunking 4 Grand+ on a machine.
In summary, any single threaded app .. the 2.7Ghz will beat the Quad. Any multi-threaded app, the Quad will beat any dual G5.

  • How fast or slow is the entry level Mac Mini?

I am a Mac newby, and today, switched from a PC to a Mac Mini. Entry level yes, but I already have an external disk drive, keyboard, and monitor, and didn't feel the need to buy items I already own. But my question is:
The graphics, the speed... how are they in comparison to a PC? I run business only on my computer, with occasional internet useage. Will this suffice?

Hi. I just bought a Mac Mini a week ago. I got the 2.5 ghz i5 completely stock meaning no memory or hard drive upgrades. This thing is more than sufficient enough for web browsing, movies, playing songs, videos. The unit gets warm, which is normal. My windows 7 laptop gets hotter than this. I also bought the trackpad and hardly use the mouse now.
So far, no hiccups. No freezes. Unit is very quiet. I love it. This is my first Mac.
And as far as graphics, I've played hd movies from itunes and also from Yahoo movie trailers that are in HD and no hiccups.

  • How fast and powerful are these new 24" 2.8 fully loaded beasts?

are these new imacs fast? can they handle GB 08 and CS3?
im trying to compare this new 24 inch ( 2.8 GHZ) beast with all the RAM in it to a G5 desktop quad or DP 2.5 all with plenty of RAM.
Does the new IMAC speed through Garageband ( 20 tracks of data ) or Photoshop CS3 with 50 MB files?
is it a new beast to contend with or just a little prettier and more featured? or is this now a computer that will tolerate lots of data without slowing down or choking on big size files?
I would love a mobile ( in the car out of the car perse ) unit that will step up to the task.
anyone who has pushed it pretty far would appreciate any responses.....

I ordered the standard config on the Apple store....it came with 2 gb of ram. I wa suprised I didnt have to upgrade anything. I took that as a sign..LOL. I got mine the 14th. Not bad for a new computer. After reading all the posts here I was a bit concerned getting a new model, but so far no problems. I also use an Airport extreme with gagabit ethernet so everything feels really fast.
I hope your computer is a flawless as mine. The only recommendation I have is to make a good backup of your old system before you get your new one. It will allow you to choose what to move over and what to trash from your old system.
Also, get some sunscreen for sitting in front of that 24" monitor
I hope you enjoy your iMac... I cant get away from mine. I own a consulting company and I am seriously considering moving to add Mac consulting to the business.

    Hello Dhruvin,
I think you shall have a look on the current help about this issue as it is a Complex ssue meaning "extense" and also one of the basic Points on the customizing and deployment of a CRM System:
Organizational Management in SAP CRM - SAP Library
Basically the Sales Area Data identifies your BP in your Sales Organization.
You define your sales organization so its fits your business requirements and real structure. f
Having this information properly defined helps to link data between SD and CRM so you can have for example: - The proper price for a customer when creating and Oportunity/ Sales Order.
                  - To restrict the access of the information of an employee.
    Hope these hints help..
    Regards

  • How to measure power factor in FPGA

    Hello,
I am acquiring analog signals of 50 Hz frequency using NI 9215 and cRIO 9073.
I am using DC and RMS measurement FPGA VI to get the RMS value of voltage and current in the FPGA.
Similarly, i need to measure the power factor taking the voltage and current values in the FPGA.
I am able to get the power factor in RT using the VI , which calculates phase angle.
But in FPGA, I guess it is not direct. Please can I know, how to obtain the power factor in FPGA itself.
    Thank you.
    Hema

OK, I haven't used FPGA version, so I'm out of my cage. If it is indeed limited, as JamesBeams says above, then there's not much you can do except rework the math yourself.
I would think that such a VI would not be allowed to be transferred onto the FPGA in the first place, but that's just a guess.
Perhaps there's a list of acceptable / unacceptable FPGA vi functions, and you could confirm that it's not available.
You might also ask the tech support folks:

  • Correct way to stop and run again a FPGA reference

    Hi guys !
I have some issues when I try to stop and run again an FPGA vi, I explain.
I have two DMA FIFO, one to send data to the FPGA from the CPU, and another from the CPU to the FPGA. When it receives data, the FPGA processes them and sends them back to the CPU and according to the result the CPU makes something. For instance it can be switch on LEDs or rotate a DC motor.
But to do this kind of actions, I have to use an "FPGA Personality", LEDs and I/O Pins seem to be managed by the FPGA core. So I've to close my FPGA vi reference in charge of receive data from the CPU, make my LEDs switching on and then after rerun again my FPGA VI again, If I don't do that LEDs blinking or motor rotation stay without effect... But close and start again the FPGA VI creates problems during the execution, especially for previous waiting of reading on the DMA FIFO... I've tried to catch errors on the FIFO to start again the FPGA VI with a right timing but nothing... I'm lost and I think that I'm missing something, a concept or something else.
I can't share my code because I'm working for a company but I would like to know if you have VI with this type of structure : an FPGA reference which have to be halted to allow hardware interaction with the default FPGA personality and then run again, everything with a good synchronisation...
I hope I'm clear, but if it's not the case, I can reword if necessary.
Thank you for the help !

I think the end user doesn't have to know that when he wants to make LEDs blinking he has to call a FPGA bitfile. I mean running an FPGA VI and want to make LEDs blink from the CPU VI at the same time should be transparent for the user and this without keep in mind horrors like bitfile switching for instance.
He doesn't have to load a different FPGA bitfile.  Everything you need that FPGA to do should be in the bitfile.  Keep in mind that we are talking about HARDWARE when we talk about FPGA.  Each time you change bitfiles, the hardware has to be reconfigured.  That takes time and is pointless for the situation you are talking about.  Build your FPGA code to do everything you need it to and you will be fine.

  • How to properly back up the iPhone (I clearly did it wrong)

I backed up my iPhone, named it and then restored it to the factory settings. When I went back and right clicked on the phone to "restore from backup", the backup I had just made was not there. Only a backup from September. Now, I've lost everything since September, that was on my phone. I was wondering what I did wrong and how to properly back up the iPhone for future reference. Does it only save 2 backups? I just am not sure why it didn't save my most recent backup, and rather, saved one from September. Sad, I lost a lot of important texts, numbers, notes and pictures. Thanks for any help!

  • FPGA Base Clocks PCI-5640R

    Hi,
I am using NI PCI-5640R. Following FPGA Base Clocks are available to me:
    (1)   Configuration_Clk
    (2)   RTSI_Ref_Clk
    (3)   DAC_0_IQ_Clk
    (4)   DAC_1_IQ_Clk
    (5)   ADC_0_Port_A_Clk
    (6)   ADC_1_Port_A_Clk
Can anyone help me with brief descriptions of each clock? When these clocks are to be used?
Kindly send me some URL links where I can find details about the usage of these clocks?
    Thanks and Regards,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Rashid,
    (1)   Configuration_Clk -  This is 20MHz onboard clock, which runs independently of the other clocks.  The role of the 20MHz configuration_clk is to provide a fixed frequecny configuration clock that is use by STC2 ASCI for PCI-DMA operations. Also this clock is not synchronized to the 200MHz VCXO or to the external clock
    (2)   RTSI_Ref_Clk - This is a device reference clock derived from 200MHz internal VCXO, by setting the dividing factor ranging from 1,2,4,8 and 16.
The I/Q clocks are the signals that indicate the rate of the baseband data. These clocks indicate the rate of the data before the digital upconversion in DAC and the rate of the data after the digital downconversion for ADC. They are described as below.
    (3)   DAC_0_IQ_Clk and (4)   DAC_1_IQ_Clk -
        DAC_<i>_IQ_Clk = 2 ×  REFCLKDAC_<i> ×  Clock multiplierDAC_<i>  / InterpolationDAC_<i>
    where
REFCLKDAC_<i> is the specified device reference clock / N2 or 3 CDC. Specify the divisor using the ni5640R CDC Program VI.
Clock multiplierDAC_<i>(M) is equal to 1 or 4 ≤ M ≤ 20. Configure the clock multiplier using the ni5640R DAC Program VI.
InterpolationDAC_<i> is the hardware interpolation rate determined by the DAC fixed 4× interpolator times a programmable 2× to 63× CIC interpolating filter. The programmable CIC interpolator can be configured using the ni5640R DAC Profile VI.
    (5)   ADC_0_Port_A_Clk and (6)   ADC_1_Port_A_Clk -
        ADC_<i>_Port_A_Clk =  ENCADC_<i> × Clock multiplierADC_<i> / (Predivide FactorADC_<i> × DecimationADC_<i>)
    where
ENCADC_<i> is the device reference clock / N0 or 1 CDC. Specify the divisor using the ni5640R Configure Timebase VI.
Clock multiplierADC_<i>(M) is equal to 1 or 4 ≤ M ≤ 20. Configure the clock multiplier using the ni5640R Input Port VI.
Predivide FactorADC_<i> (N) is equal to 1, 2, 4, or 8. Configure the predivide factor using the ni5640R Input Port VI.
DecimationADC_<i> is the decimation factor for a particular channel in the ADC. Decimation is performed in various filters throughout the processing channel. Each channel includes one CIC filter (decimates by 1 to 32), two FIR-HB filters (each decimates by 2), one DRC filter (decimates by 1 to 16) and one CRCF filter (decimates by 1 to 16). Configure all these filters using the ni5640R ADC Configure DDC VI.
The figure below shows how all the above clocks are derived
