How fast is the Ethernet on the X230 laptop?

10 Mb, 100 Mb, or 1000 Mb?  Seems like 100 Mb, but I can't find a spec anywhere.  Please provide a source for your answer, if possible.  Thanks.

Hi,
As bananaman said, the NIC in your laptop is GigE.  You might be able to reassure yourself by looking at the LEDs on the router port.  Sometimes they're coded to indicate link speed.  If they don't show 1000Mb/s, there's something wrong with your connection.
When you time your transfer, are you using one large file (or a few) or a bunch of small files?  I've seen my GigE machine-to-machine transfers run at close to full speed for large files (a DVD ISO for instance) and drop all the way to 1MB/s for multiple small files.  Window 7 in particular does a poor job with many small files.

  • How fast IS the AirPort Extreme?

I'm in need of a new router/modem to go along with my new ISP and new computer. (the computer is a windows) but i have 3 iMacs and 2 Windows.
I just have a couple of questions.
    1. How fast Is the AirPort Extreme? Does it boost the speeds of the speeds you already get from the ISP?
    2. Is it a router and modem all in one?
    3. How compatible is it with windows? (can I set it up on a windows computer?)
    4. Is it REALLY worth the cost?
    5. What other router/modem combo can compare to it?

    1. How fast Is the AirPort Extreme?
The Ethernet ports are 10/100 (100 Mbps max). The wireless interface is 802.11g (54 Mbps max).
Does it boost the speeds of the speeds you already get from the ISP?
No, the Internet access speed is limited by the connection speed to your ISP.
    2. Is it a router and modem all in one?
It IS a router. It has a built-in 56k modem but it does not have a DSL or cable modem built-in.
    3. How compatible is it with windows? (can I set it up on a windows computer?)
Ethernet and 802.11g are both standards. There is a Windows version of the AirPort Admin Utility which can be used from Windows to configure the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).
    5. What other router/modem combo can compare to it?
Verify few other wireless routers have built-in USB printer support. Of those few devices even fewer are compatible with the Mac.

  • How fast is the iPhone over Wifi?

How fast is the iphone over wifi?
It seems to be a lot slower compared to a laptop that is on wifi.
On the iphone bandwidth test page i found posted in this forum, i seem to get a max of 130KB a sec. *Bytes
It ranges usually lower than that though. Around 50 to 70KB
This is rather slow for a wifi connection.
    Is this normal?

I haven't ran any speed tests but using WiFi surfing on my phone seems just a bit slower then on my laptop. My WiFi is through a cable modem and using a square Apple Airport
I'm very surprised on how usable EDGE is. It seems about the same speed as the least expensive ADSL from Bellsouth that is 128kbps.

  • How fast is the new iPod Camera Connector

I'm wondering how fast the new $29 Apple iPod Camera Connector is for offloading images from a fast CF card using a fast USB 2.0 card reader? (The older Belkin system for the regular iPods was too slow, in my opinion, to be usable for high capacity memory cards with lots of images.)
If this new option from apple is fast, I'm going to buy an iPod photo right away!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks!

Any chance that you can test with a card reader to see if that works? That is, can you plug an external card reader into the camera connector, remove the card from your camera and plug it in to the card reader, and transfer to the iPod that way? (This would allow one to not burn their camera battery while downloading the images, or to swap out cards and continue taking photos while the first card was dumped to the iPod.)
The Coolpix 3200 is apparently not USB 2 / high-speed compliant, so especially cool would be if you could test with a camera or card reader (if that works at all) that supported USB 2, and report on the speed.
(Yeah, I know I'm asking for a lot. Just in case you're able to check this out.)
While we're at it - any other comments, pro or con, about the camera connector or experience so far?
    Thanks!

  • How fast is the ipad 4 chip a6x

How fast is Ipad 4 with A6X chip? What is the size of my quad graphics?

"How fast" doing what"? Or compared with what? As stated, your question is sort of "how high is up". We need to know what you wish as a comparison or benchmark before anyone can offer meaningful commentary. You can, if you wish, just search the web for something like "iPad fourth generation benchmarks" and you should find sites that have run basic tests and comparisons with earlier iPads and probably with other tablets, though such cross-platform tests are often inaccurate.
I don't know what you mean by "size of my quad graphics". Can you please explain further what it is you wish to know?
    Regards.

  • How fast is the observer pattern?

    hi,
lets say i have a graph with thousands of edges existing.
Now i delete some of them, but i do not remember, which ones are deleted.
Deleting should mean in this case i mark them as deleted, by setting a specific flag of the edge object to true.
If i, lets say "push a button" then i want all edges to switch back to the state of being not deleted.
If i realize it using Observer and Observable, and i call update(), how fast is this? I think it must be O(n) - with n being the number of Observers, since all observers must be run through, like a link list. But i can be wrong, and it might be much faster?
    Does anybody know about that?
Thanks a lot for your explanation in advance!

    object to true.
If i, lets say "push a button" then i want all edges
to switch back to the state of being not deleted. Walking through the full graph will obviously take O(n), since you need to visit every edge.
The quickest option is obviously to do remember which ones are deleted: If you delete 10 edges from a 10,000 edges graph, and store these deleted edges in a separate list, you only need to visit those 10 to undelete them.
But I agree with the previous poster who said that this might not be necessary, for a few thousand nodes the overhead of visiting them all may be hardly noticable.
Do the simple version first, and do the optimization only if required. It's quite likely that other parts of your application will be more in need of optimization than this one.

  • How fast would the mbps be on a apple time capsule?

That's one of the reasons it's not a good idea to mix Time Machine backups and other data on the TC's internal HD.  See #C3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule for some possible workarounds.

  • NB550D - How fast is the SDHC slot?

I wanted to add an SDHC card but was unsure how fast the slot is in this notebook. Could it make full use of a 60MB/s card or is the reader going to be the bottleneck?

    Hi buddy,
I never heard that card slot speed is limited. Usually its depending on the SD or SDHC card.
Where did you saw a SDHC card with 60 MB/s? Fastest SDHC card is known to me is SanDisk Extreme 30MB/s and they are really fast. I only use this brand of SDHC cards and never had any problems with performance or something else. They are fast enough for recording FullHD movies for example :)

  • How fast is the new Mac Pro 8 core comparred to Mac Pro 4 core?

    Hi,
I consider to update my 1.5 year old Mac Pro 2.66 ghz (4 core) to a Mac Pro 8 core. I use this machine as the center in my studio running Logic 8. I use a lot of V.I. and plugs.
Can anyone tell me anything about the gain in performance that is possible upgrading to an 8 core?
Or show me where to find information. MacWorld use to be my resource in that kind of matters, but they never use Logic as a test program.
    Thanks in advance!

    Glenn,
The new Mac Pro will be faster at everything when compared to your older PowerMac, but I think the first 2 items you list will be more dependent upon drive speed.
    1. The FSB and memory are faster in the new Mac Pro, but reading from the CD will only be as fast as the optical drive can handle.
    2. How fast the TIFF file is displayed in the Finder may be more dependent upon the read speed of the hard drive than the processing speed required to create the thumbnail view displayed by the Finder.
    3. Working in CS3 should definitely be faster. Even though you didn't want a response that linked to a test, the following BareFeat test should show how much faster CS3 is on the new Mac Pro.

  • How fast can the MOO occur (hoping I can open up new MB in the store)

If the Apple store understands that I will not keep a MOOing MB, how likely is the MB to make it's noises right out of the box at start up so I can open the box in the store after paying for it and see if it's a keeper or a clunker?
    iMac Intel 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

The mooing will start immediately if you can ramp up the temperature and HOLD it at the right temperature. For me it happens exactly at CPU temperatures between 66C~69C only, but as far as I know different Macbooks moo at different temperatures. (below 66C, fan is off. above 69C, fan is constantly on. - In between, the fan turns on and off intermittently)
You can monitor the temperature via CoreDuoTemp, and you can use an App called SystemLoad to load the CPU and raise the temperature.
    Search for downloads in google.
Not sure if you can download these and run them inside a Apple store in front of an Apple employee..?
FYI, the employees at the apple store I went to were quite rude and very misinformed. I hope you have better luck!
You can check my disassembled Macbook mooing video if you'd like. search for mooing video in this forum

  • How fast does the mac pro run xp with 3d apps

Hi all am planing to upgrade to a mac pro, but am not sure how it will run xp and some animations softwares on the xp side,
i was just wondering if any one knows the speed and fast the mac pro can render with 3d max mental ray. and the problems it will encounter when running xp.

If your plan is to run XP with 3D, why not BYO and go after an Intel X58 Core i7.
Otherwise, keep your eye on Apple Specials (ref'd) units.

  • How fast does the 4x dvd slot loader play cd's?

Hi, does the 4x apply to dvds only? It seems to me that the cd capabilities would have to be faster for my Imac g3 450mhz to be able to load & use most software. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I believe the 4x refers to DVDs. For example, look at the full specs. for this drive:
