Sorry, but Apple cannot help you with this one. All of us here are only end users like yourself anyways. You'll have to look for it like any other lost device. You could/should report the indicent to the police and/or talk to parents about the situation.

If the iPod is restored, that erases the FindMyiPhone feature. It tracks the by the feature and the info you supply. The feature broadcasts its location via wifi using the location of the router as its location. You can't track the iPod by the SN.
