How find out what percent of JRE's ar 1.4, 5, 6?
Does anyone know of a study or website that has info on what JRE's are really in use out there? For example, are 30% of people still on 1.4? Is 6 widely used yet? I ask because I don't want to waste my time making my app 1.4-compliant if there's pretty much no one on it anymore.
What does everyone here do?

If you want to run in 1.4 then you need to use a 1.4 compiler and VM for testing.
It is much more likely that if you develope in 1.4 that it will run in 1.5/1.6 without problems than the reverse. That's what I figured. But if 10% of java apps use 1.4 and the rest are 5 or 6, then i don't mind forcing that 10% to upgrade. But if it's 30% or more, that's a lot of people to annoy.
(But man, it would be nice to do 1.5+ collections with generics!)
Any idea if using 1.5 and using generics can reliably compile back to 1.4? Can i compile with a 1.4 flag if I've used generics?

If it's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, insert a Mac OS X install DVD, restart with the Option key held down, click on it, and use the Reset Password utility.
If it's running Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, restart with the Command and R keys held down, open the Terminal, and use the resetpassword command:

How do I find out what my PW is on my Mac or at least how to reset it?
I reset my password for internet site but i must have a different pw on my Mac, it will not let me do updates without it* The PW hint in the sign in screen is not working. How do I find out what my PW is on my Mac or at least how to reset it?
thanks,
sticksrrll.Sounds like you want your administrative password on the Mac so can install? For starters, you'll want to ask in a Mac forum. I know you used to be able to reset it using the install disk but haven't tried that for years.

How do i find out what devices are authorised on my apple ID?
I have just bought a new iMac and want to get all my itunes library etc on it. However, apparently i have reached my limit of 5 authorisations, which is entirely possible as I have had a number of iphones, Macair and ipads, some of which I either no longer own or are no longer functioning. How do I find out what devices are authorised and then deauthorise any that I don't use any more - given that they may not even work!
Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't de-authorise just the computers you no longer have access to.
Your only option is to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise those you wish to be authorised. You can do this by logging into your account settings in iTunes on your computer (Store > View My ID) and selecting the option to de-authorise all.
Please note however, you are only permitted to do this once in each 12 month period, therefore you would be better de-authorising your computers before you lose access to them. you can do this from the 'Store' menu in iTunes. -
I have two iPhones on my iTunes account. How can I find out what apps go to which phone?
I don't believe that there is a way to do that. I would sugest using automatic downloads to keep your apps synced across both phones. You might also want to note that just about any app you have ever download will be available for free download via icloud.
Wish I could be more help. -
How can I find out what apple IDs are tied to an email address
We are trying to set up FaceTime and got the verification error on the email address. We went in to the Apple ID account and when we verify the email address, it tells us that it's tied to another AppleID. My daughter has 3 other AppleIDs and we've checked each one of them and the email address is not tied to any of them.
How can we find out what apple ID is tied to this email address?
We have used the "Forgot my Apple ID" function and used all 3 of the different email addresses she's used on the accounts and when we access the one that says there's a duplicate, it takes us to the account and it's the one with the email address that I noted above.
Any thougts or help?
Thanks!Itunes limit includes computers.

I'm trying to sync my 5th gen iPod and I keep getting a message that there are items on my iPod that are not in my iTunes and they'll be deleted if I don't transfer them. How do I find out what these items are so I know if I want them or not? Also, I seem to have a fair amount of duplicates, one marked with the cloudn symbol and one not. Which one do I delete??
Go to your "Purchased" list. See:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
and look for items not on this computer. -

How can I find out what calendars are in my .mac account?
A simple question, but I am struggling with the answer.
I have used ical since it first came out and have found it brilliant and very easy to use and access both from the office and also from home. However because I have used it for so long I have had various changes in staff. I am keen to find out if there are any 'other' calendars created by anyone who has/had access to ical via my .mac account.
The calendars must be stored somewhere online? How can I find out what calendars I am hosting?Hello, chunnyb.
