How fix email launch after SN update

After re-installing the latest SN update to fix a M$ Office glitch, now my puter cannot access my yahoo mail. I can through a, yuk, PC. Neither Safari nor Firefox work.
Please post reply and not by email, dugh, it doesn't work.

NEVA MIND. It turned out to be a yahoo issue and mysteriously fixed itself. Just wonder if anyone else experienced the same.

Lightroom CC 5 doesn't launch after 2014 update. Mac OSX 10.8.5. Tried the suggestion to log out of Adobe Cloud and log back in. Also rebooted computer. No luck. Photoshop CC 2014 seems to have installed perfectly. Can't install previous version either, can't even find it via Adobe Cloud. Tried re-downloading from Adobe web site but it sits there saying "downloading now" -- but nothing is downloading!

Kdcmond could not launch, after security update Nov 09,OS 10.5,Powerbook g4

Powerbook G4 will not boot past the grey screen with spinning wheel after latest security update from Apple.
In safe mode: kdcmond could not launch is reported.
I DO NOT HAVE EASY ACCESS TO INSTALLATION DISKS.
Please post suggestions that are viable using rm or vi in safe mode.
It will take the IT department weeks to get around to fixing this so I am hoping for usable responses in the short term.
Powerbook G4 1GB os 10.5.7 to 8 Grey Screen/crash with exceptions after security update.
Took corrective actions using Disk Utility then Applejack with no success. Deleted Library/Prefernces/SystemConfiguration files: NetworkInterfaces.plist, com.apple.airport.preferences.plist, and preferences.plist to get them to regenerate. The exception is gone but now, kdcmond could not launch is reported due to no localhost name found.

No suggestions from anyone so I am giving up and returning the PC to IT. I will leave the thread open in case anyone comes up with any ideas for future reference.

Lightroom 5.5 will not launch after CC update

My Lightroom 5.5 was working just fine. Yesterday after doing an update on Creative Cloud, and rebooting the computer, LR will not launch. When I click on the icon, it opens the splash page for a split second, then crashes. Any suggestions of what may be happening and what to do?

I had this issue with Photoshop on Windows from the very beginning of my subscription -- i.e. since end of last year. Now, after latest update Adobe managed to introduce same problem with LR 5.5. Here is how I "solved" it on Windows:

I don't have this problem on Mac and don't know where this cache lives there, but it should be somewhere. Idea is that you remove the cache and configuration, then start the app, it registers itself and starts. Unfortunately, I have to do it every time. Tech support have no clue about any solution for that, you have to ask them to transfer you to product support.

Photoshop fails to launch after the most recent software update. I am running 10.5.5 on a black macbook. It fails to launch every time. I have activated it with the key code, but never registered. What do I need to do to fix this?

Adobe position on PS CS2 is that it is not compatible with Leopard. They say they have no plans to fix it either. According to them the only versions that are compatible with Leopard are CS3 and CS4.
I some people say they don't have any problems using PS CS2 with Leopard but it doesn't appear this is true for everyone.

Mail will not launch after recent font update, how can I reinstall Mail or repair it?

Have you tried repairing permissions? Are you using a font activation program? If so maybe try turning fonts off in groups until you can get mail to launch and try to narrow it down to a bad/corrupt font?

How to fix scanner problems after OS update?

Ever since OS update (OSX 10.9.2), when I scan to my Apple Macbook Pro (8,1) from the HP Photosmart Prem C410 the scanned document appears in the HP scan program (HP scan 2.4.3(3)) but now the scan won't save or send. I get an error message saying: "An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to. Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only." The scanner program on my HP C410 printer continues to work well with other computers. My laptop is up to date with all the updates that are available. How can I fix this?

Try scanning with Preview or Image Capture... same results? If not, then I would assume that there's a problem with the HP scanning software and you should get in touch with HP's technical support folks.

How to fix UI breakage after ESR update to 31?

Hello. I just updated my firefox to the latest version. However, on the first run I couldn't help but notice the worst breakage at least since FF4.

The tabs are utterly broken. The only other part of UI that I actively used, the menu bar is gone, replaced with something that is wrongly positioned (tabs used to be on bottom), less functional (my buttons, customised menus and buttons are gone) and larger.
I see that I can get the menu bar back, but I can't get rid of the large piece at the bottom, which makes the exercise useless.
I can probably move features there, but:
* can I remove it? I really see no benefit.
* If no, can I get a real menu in it and
* can I make it appear above tabs?
And tabs. This is just awful. TabMixPlus used to be my biggest reason to use FF. No other browser scaled to well over 100 tabs.
Now there's a big conflict between the plugin and the new UI. What happened? How do I fix it? This is pretty much a show stopper, I can't live with FF that looks like this and I don't want to live with one w/out good tabbing support, which will force me to stay with the previous version. I don't want to do it again....

(1) Multi-row was never a built-in feature. TabMixPlus still has that option ([http://tmp.garyr.net/support/viewpage.php?t=3&p=display-tab-bar help page]), and I haven't seen reference to any problems with it in the current version. Could you verify that it's still selected in TMP's options?
(2) userChrome.css does have a capitalized C and goes in a chrome folder inside your currently active profile folder (this folder does not exist by default in recent versions of Firefox). http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css

I have tried the shift key and moving the Mail cache folder to the desktop with no luck.
Mail will simply not launch.
I suppose I will have to do an archive/install unless anybody here has any other ideas.

Please, clarify. Is it that Mail doesn’t launch at all, or that it freezes upon start up? These are completely different problems, but your post gives the impression that you have the former and have tried things meant for the later...
Also, checking what happens on another user account isn’t supposed to “help”, but rather is meant to determine whether the problem is system-wide or confined to a particular user account, which isn’t clear from your post either...
Problems arising right after installing a system update are usually the result of the problem already being there, or some filesystem corruption that should have been fixed first, or not having installed the update properly (e.g. applications running while installing it), or having ignored Apple’s “Important: Please read before installing” warnings, etc.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:

After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, reinstall any updates that may not have been installed properly. It may also be necessary to reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with the computer:

After installing the Combo Update, the computer may restart twice and the first restart may take several minutes. This is normal.

Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk and back up before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.

Safari won't launch after security update. ATSServer issue?

I installed Security Update 2008-007, restarted my machine and went to launch Safari. The icon bounced but the menu bar at the top didn't change to Safari and after a few minutes I got a window appear telling me Safari had quit unexpectedly.
I went through some forums and tried a bunch of fixes: I re-installed, trashed the prefs, history etc, removed all the plug-ins but none of this worked.
In the end I found mention of the ATSServer, which I killed in the terminal. Immediately Safari launched. What's the issue here? Has the latest update caused a problem with ATSServer?

I presume when you were doing the Repair function booted from the CD that eventually you said "Repair" and it scanned the drive and said in green, "No problems found" or similar stuff.
Another way to effect repairs is to hold down the Shift key at Startup, which does a Disk Repair as it starts up, so it takes a while longer that usual, then loads the smallest-possible set of extensions and boots into "Safe Mode".
Directory problems like "Keys out of order" or reports that there is a problem, but Disk Utility cannot repair it are a serious concern, and may require industrial-strength disk recovery tools.

How to disable scan after signature update in scep 2012 r2?

I have found that after a reboot of 16 VM's suddenly my SAN had >1000 IOPS on a host with just 16 VM's.
That might not look bad based on numbers but we still run more or less green and now we have just 16 VM's soon there will be 500+.
I rebooted the VM's simulating a HA situation and found the huge amount of IOPS for some time.
MSMPENG.EXE was scanning and we disabled all automatic scanning so I was looking in eventviewer.
There I discovered a signature update.
It is highly unwanted to have a partly or full scan on servers. So my question is how can we disabled this?

I find a scan setting in Antimalware Policy - "Check for the latest definition updates before running a scan". You could check the policy in your SCCM console.
Please also confirm this is not a scheduled scan.

Mail, Safari, Software Update fail to launch after last update.

After my last software update which included an update for Quicktime, iTunes and two other programs I ran Age Of Empires and left it running for a period of time.
The computer froze hard and I had to hold the power button in to restart it.
From that point I cannot get Safari, Mail, or Software Update to start. They launch, but about a second into the process they quit unexpectidly and will not re-open.
When I try to run Safari or Mail through the terminal it comes up with the following:

I read the selection in MacFixit and went through the steps that they suggested.
I even downloaded MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.10PPC.dmg and when I went to re-install it the program Installer quit unexpectedly in the same manner that Safari, Mail, and Software Update did.
I also noted that when I tried to start either Safari or Mail using the terminal (I don't have much expertise in this area) they stated that there was a segmentation fault
Here is what was on the terminal screen:

Prey game not launching after Security Update 2007-004

After applying Apple Security Update 2007-004, Prey (Mac version) is not launching and continuously crashes on my computer. I have uninstalled all game files and reinstalled the game from the original DVD but with no success. Repairing disc permissions, updating prebindings and other usual maintainence meaures are unfortunately not helping. I have an external USB hard disc running Mac OS 10.4.9 without the Security Update applied and Prey works properly when my computer boots up from this external hard drive. It is therefore apparent that Apple Security Update 2007-004 has most probably caused Prey to become non-functional as prior to this the game was working without any problems whatsoever.
Has anyone else expereinced this problem and are there any suggestions?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Contact the game author's site and report it so they can update it.
