  • How to highlight text with Adobe Reader XI?

    Thanks. The PDF file was made from a web site article and I guess this is the same as scanned as I cannot highlight.  The cursor changes but cannot highlight what I want.
    I was able to add text and I did this in Red and will ask the VA to read under the sections marked in Red.
    Thanks,

  • How do I text with the iPad 2 using cellular device?

    How do I text with the iPad 2 using cellular device? I also have iPhone 4, can I use them both for texting?

    The iPad doesn't have any text over cellular capabilities. You can use apps like Text Free to send texts to non-iOS devices, though.

  • Formatting incoming text with style sheets

    Is there a way to "find/change" formatted text with existing style sheets?<br /><br />In other words I have formatted text placed into my indesign document that looks like the following: <bf>Four Patch</bf> Then another set of text that looks like this:<it> Baltimore Press</it> <br /><br />I set up stles sheets formatted for Bold font and Ital font to accomodate these formats. Problem is I have a 500 page book that I need to go through and stylize. I tried to do a find/change global (<bf> </bf> to bold font etc but it didn't work. I was hoping by just putting a space between the <> would  help the find/change option to find all the text but kept saying could find.<br /><br />I hope someone understands what I'm trying to do and can tell me that there is a remedy to the tedious formatting issue I have.<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />MAria<br />Stuart, Florida

    If you have InDesign CS3, I can think of two ways to deal with this.
    Grep search: set search to
    <bf>([^<]+)</bf>
    and replacement string to
    $1
    and then set the change format to your boldface style. Change all. (I often think it's a good idea to take a copy before doing Change All on a 500-page document, but that's up to you.) Repeat with hopefully obvious changes for the italics. You can save the searches if you need to do this often.
    Adventurous alternative.
    Put the single line
    <stuff>
    at the top of your file, and
    </stuff>
    at the bottom.
    Now it's XML. So open the structure panel, import XML from the fly-out menu. Map Tags to Styles from the same menu, and set up the correspondence you need. Then drag the stuff node from the structure panel to the document.
    If you have to do this more than once, you can import the mapping from an old file each time after the first.
    IMPORTANT: The XML route will fail if you have loose & or less than characters in your file. You would have to replace these with the appropriate character entity references.
    (If you aren't reading this on the forum site, you may be seeing character entity references in the message. Hopefully you can decode them.)

  • How I creatat text with hyperlink in application

    hi all,
    I want to creat some text with hyperlink (it mean when I click to text, it invoke other panel or web...). My program is Application. Can any one tell me how I do it. Pls help me!!!.
    Thank you verry much

    Is this text HTML? If so, just go to any of the 350,000 sites on the Internet that describe basic HTML. Otherwise, just output the URL as text.
    However my guess is that your bigger problems are (a) how to notice the hyperlink is clicked and (b) how to invoke whatever it links to. Right?

  • [CS3 JS] How to associate text with an XML tag

    Hello,
    I have a script that allows one to create or modify an XML tag after one selects text, a text frame or an existing XML tag. It works fine for making the XML tag but it does not associate the text or text frame to the tag. To do that I have to right click on the selection and use the context menu to Tag Text or Tag Frame.
    I want to make this automatic but cannot see how to script it.
    Thanks for any help

    I figured out the problem (which of course creates other interesting problems).
    In the line:
    var elementRef = rootElement.xmlElements.add (tagRef);
    I forgot to add a reference to the xmlContent. It should read:
    var elementRef = rootElement.xmlElements.add (tagRef, whatToTag);
    However, this script is designed to create a dialog box where one can either create a tag along with attributes or edit an existing one. I'll post it when I am done, but there is one hangup. The script not only changes the name of a selected xml tag but all tags with the same name. How can I get it to change only the selected tag? Below is the boiled down script that duplicates that problem.
    Thanks,
    Tom
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var selObj = app.selection[0];
    var TagIWantToChange = selObj.markupTag;
    var newTagName = "PleaseWork"; //This line replaces all the coding to create a dialog box where the tag name could be edited.
    TagIWantToChange.name = newTagName;

  • How to style text with XML import using character style that is in a group (aid:cstyle = "group1"."style1") ?

    Hello, I am using an XML file to import text into InDesign page items. Everything works well using the attribute "aid:cstyle = style1" but since the introduction of InDesign groups, our users want to use them but we do not know how to reference them in the xml attribute.
    I saw somewhere on the internet that you should use "aid:cstyle = group1:style1" or "aid:cstyle = group1|style1" but both won't work. They simply create a new ungrouped style name "group1:style1" or "group1|style1"
    So what is the right formula ?
    Thanks

    Tagged Text is nice but all the copy in your page item is one big block, no way to separate and track individual values, say in your page item you have a description and a sale price, you can't update the price without reimporting the description as well. We use many fields inside an individual page item and just as one example we need to be able to update all prices on the page without modifying anything else that shares the page items with the prices. Also XML updates you can trigger an update for the whole document in one operation, while with Tagged Text you have to "place" your text file for each individual page item you are modifying (even with scripting you call the place function as many times as you have page items). So say you have a page or document with 200 boxes across multiple layers that is a lot of individual actions.
    Anyway back to my problem.
    I've never used Mapping tas to styles before, but running some tests here I clearly don't understand it. If my text is already tagged and I map a style to a tag, it untags all my individual text elements and leaves only the page item tag, and doesn't style my text... I'm going to try and read more on this.

  • How can align text with a video?

      I recently received an .avi of a software demo with system sound that needs to be deleted from a customer.  I also received a .txt file of the text that should be spoken during the video.  The question is :  how do I align the text (both spoken and CC notes) with the video?  I need to theoretically be able to watch the video as I align the CC notes.
    Let me know if you have any tips!
    Thank you ..

    Depending on your version of Cp, you will likely need to convert the AVI to FLV before you can import it into Captivate.  At some point either before or after you convert the file you will need to remove the current sound track.  If you want Closed Captioning in Captivate to synch with the audio then you will need the audio file to be inserted as Slide Audio.
    Getting Slide Audio to synch perfectly with an Event Video or Multi-Slide video can be tricky and unreliable because it depends a lot on factors outside your control such as the end user's PC and how well it can decode video as well as how much bandwith they have for the download to happen quickly.

  • How to combine text with variable in process flow

    Hi,
    I have created a function that returns the environment that a process flow is running in, Production, Test or Development. I have been able to bind the output of the function into a variable in a process flow and bind the variable to the subject of an email activity. I'd like to go one step more and combine the value of the variable with some text to explain which step in the process flow generated the email. Is there a way to concatenate text to a variable or to add an OWB system variable? I've seen an example where the subject of the email is
    "Failed mapping <mapping name>"
    but I want my subject to be "PROD Failed mapping <mapping name>" where the "PROD" is from a process flow variable or function return value.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks
    Don Keyes

    Hi Don,
    you can perform this task with ASSIGN activity.
    For example, you have two variable V_ENV_TYPE (with type of environment) and V_TEXT ("Failed mapping <mapping name>"). Define additinal variable V_NEW_TEXT, bind Variable parameter of Assign activity to V_NEW_TEXT variable and define value in Assign activity as
    V_ENV_TYPE || ' ' || V_TEXTRegards,
    Oleg

  • How to replace text with vector image in 3d space

    Hello,
    I want to replace the text in this template http://vimeo.com/15026094 with a vector image logo.
    Any ideas would be helpful. Btw, I have CS4.
    Thanks,
    td

    I finally took a look at your Vimeo example and I'd guess that the animation of the text was created with Text Animators and range selectors. As Mylenium said, and as I said
    Reveal all of the animated properties that you want to transfer to your new layer. Usually pressing the U key will suffice.
    Note: Text animations and shape animators will be ignored unless the new layer is a text or shape layer.
    You need read up on Text Animators so you can understand them.
    Type a question in the search field at the top right corner of After Effects.
    And you'll find all of these resources. (providing you have the Adobe Help preferences set to search the web)
    Animation presets will save all animated properties applied to a layer, but they will only apply the keyframes to properties that exist on the layer. Text Animators only exist in text layers so you'll have to animate your logo by hand or grab yourself a font creation tool and recreate your logo as a font.

  • How To Replace Text With video?

    Hi,
    I purchased this template for AE http://videohive.net/item/commercial-plan/109232
    Everything is fine except importing video into it.
    If you take a look at the video preview, there is an option to place 4 images/videos in the template. However, when I tried to import video, it does not show up. I tried right clicking on the asset panel and then replacing the existing file with my video. No luck.
    The video I tried to import is MP4 Video (in .m4v format).
    Also the MP3 file I tried to import does not play in the file after rendering.
    Any idea why this is happening?
    Thank you.

    What version of AE do you have. Earlier versions had problems with MP4 video. It's always best to transcode highly compressed sources before you start manipulating video.
    Somewhere in that template there's place holder video or a place holder layer. You must find the original footage layer not the pre-comp, not the nested comp. Once there all you have to do is select that place holder layer in the timeline then select your new video in the Project Panel and hold down the Alt/Option key and drag to the timeline. The footage will be replaced.

  • Problem formating StringBuffer/Text with Properties

    Hi my Java good Freinds,
    I have the following toString BufferedString named buf which i got from reading my serialPort getInputStream:
    0111XXX01XXX0001XXX01XXXXXXX11XXX000XXXXXXX110XXX111XXX111XXX100
    and i have the following Properties file named "proptab":
    0111=J
    01=A
    0001=V
    11=I
    000=S
    110=G
    111=O
    100=D
    i used the following pseudo code to format/translate the buffered String in order to get the following:
    JAVA IS GOOD
    String str = buf.toString();
    StringBuffer result = new StringBuffer();
    int pos;
    int count=0;
    String output="";
    table = new Properties();
    try {
    FileInputStream morsehashinput;
    tabinput = new FileInputStream( "proptab" );
    table.load( tabinput );
    tabinput.close();
    catch( IOException ex ) {
    System.out.print("File not found");
    if((pos = tmp.indexOf("XXX")) != -1) {
    result.append( table.getProperty(str.substring(count,pos)) );
    count = += pos;
    if((pos = tmp.indexOf("XXXXXXX")) != -1) {
    result.append(" ");
    output = result.toString();
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog( null, output,
    "Demonstrating String Class \"index\" Methods",
    JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE );
    System.exit( 0 );
    when i run this code instead of getting JAVA IS GOOD, i only get J
    please i want to know what is wrong with the code or preferably another better way to retrieve and translate the data from the buffered String

    The reason you only get 1 character is that you only process one substring. You need a loop construct.
    Use StringTokeniser for these easy parsing operations.
        String s = "0111XXX01XXX0001XXX01XXXXXXX11XXX000XXXXXXX110XXX111XXX111XXX100";
        Map map = new HashMap();
        map.put("0111","J");
        map.put("01","A");
        map.put("0001","V");
        map.put("01","A");
        map.put("0111","I");
        map.put("000","S");
        map.put("110","G");
        map.put("111","O");
        map.put("100","D");
        StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(s,"XXX");
        while (st.hasMoreTokens()) {
          String token = st.nextToken();
          if (map.containsKey(token))
            System.out.print(map.get(token));
          else
            System.out.print(" ");
        }BTW you've got some empty substrings in your source string, you may want to consider putting in expressions for blanks like "0" = " ".
