How frequently do I need to replace my airport wifi?

Replace it every time it breaks and can no longer be fixed.
That may be a very long time.

  • Type of battery -- mid 2010 13-inch macbook; and how soon do I need to replace dead battery?

I'm trying to replace the battery on my mid 2010 13-inch Macbook. I'm not sure what kind of battery I need to get, and can't seem to find any indication in "System Information". It's a "MacBook7,1" with Intel Core 2 Duo and Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz. I found this battery on amazon: "Apple MacBook Pro 13 Inch Mid 2010 Battery 60Wh, 5500mAh". Will it work? Do I need to get one with a particular power capacity, or anything like that?
I'm also wondering how quickly I need to get the problem fixed. My computer stopped working yesterday unless plugged into a power source. I don't really want to send it away to get it fixed, as I have a lot of work I need to do on it over the course of the next week. If I buy a battery online, wait for it to arrive, and install it (a process that will probably take at least 4-5 days), will I be leaving it too long? Or is it OK to continue just running my computer off the mains for now?
    Thanks!

PS: here's some other info I found, after my earlier post timed-out:
See how a determined DIY user with some skills & abilities could dissect & replace battery:
    https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Unibody+Model+A1342+Battery+Replacement/166 7
Example of what new replacement battery looks like, for your Mac; w/ part number:

Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider
    Visit an Apple Retail Store
An Apple Store or Authorized Apple service provider could replace the battery
for the cost of the part, and a fee for the tech time. This may vary by location.
Hopefully this helps. The part is not considered 'user replaceable' but it is possible.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How many times I need to replace my phone?

I bought my 4S on Dec 28, and as of now I had replaced for 5 times..
I had experienced all the bugs which are found on the 4s, So I am no more interested to use 4s, is there any way that I can get replaced with IPhone 4 or a refund?
Please guide me, Really So disappointed
    Thanks in advance
    Daniel

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience, or I guess four, in this case. I had a mute bug and my carrier replaced it for me. I suggest you contact them if they're the ones who sold it to you, or Apple directly if you bought it from them. I contacted customer service and they offered to replace my phone almost immediately until they saw because I'm not in the US I had to take it to the carrier directly.
In short, they were quite helpful I'm sure they'll try and give you a solution. Best luck!

  • How frequently do I need to use my sim so that O2 does not put it out of use?

I am going to travel for the next month or so and haven't topped up my sim in a month. I was told by someone who is with another provider that her sim was disconnected as she did not make a chargeable call in 2/3 months. Is this also the case with O2? Also, what if I use the sim for data but do not make a charegable call for the same period? Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,
Welcome to the community. You need to use your phone for a chargeable call every six months, as stated above.
But you're only going away for a couple of months so you should be absolutely fine.
    Enjoy your travels,
    Charlie.

  • Do I need to replace my airport?

I have an older airport express at home, at least 4 years old. I have Cox high speed Internet and use it for my iPad 2 and daughters Pc laptop. The last few weeks each device is not finding our network, so I have to go I to settings and manually choose the connection, then we can get Internet connectivity half the time. the other half it says unavailable or not detected. The airport device is lit green. If I unplug it and wait a few seconds then plug it back into the wall it usually finds the connection, I'd say that works 75% of the time.
I am wondering do I need a new airport device or is it my cable/Internet connection? Thanks for any input.

Before giving up on the current AirPort Express, I would recommend that you perform a complete power recycle of your networking equipment to see if this fixes the issue you are seeing. Please post back your results.
If the problem returns, the next step that I would recommend is to have Cox run a "line check" between their service and the Broadband router that they provided you. Sometimes the signal quality to the cable modem is not up to par and could be the cause as well.
Finally, if they verify that the signal is good, then try connecting one of your computers directly to the modem via an Ethernet able. You could use the one that connects the Express to the modem. Does the problem still exist? If it does, then it could be the modem and I would ask Cox for a replacement. If not, then as you suspect it may be the AirPort Express.

  • Do I need to replace my airport extreme 802.11g?

last week I started having problems with airport extreme 802.11g dropping wireless signal and/or having to connect manually.  I have been pulling out AC waiting for 10 seconds and plugging back in.  Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.  I will have connect for a minute and then drops again.  Maybe another minute and it finds the signal again, then drops it again.
Yesterday, I changed Airport Extreme to different channel and added interference robustness. I am still having to pull the plug on extreme to reset signal and get connected on wireless network.
Have not added new hardware - all using 802.11g (did buy iphone 4S but can't believe that is the problem)
    Cable signal fine
Tring to determine if buying new extreme will offer solution or if problems will continue - suggestions?

I am afraid that the interference that you are picking up is coming from outside sources. Unfortunately, you will not be able to do much about this other than try different locations for the AirPort Extreme.
I'm assuming that your AirPort Extreme is not located close to a televison or other electronic device. If it is, try to move it as far away as possible. Also try to keep it as far away from any outside walls or windows in the apartment as possible.
I was helping a friend recently who moved into a a new high rise apartment/condo development and we found that he simply could not use 2.4 GHz wireless reliably in his area due to the number of other networks and interference issues. That is likely the case in many other situations due to the explosion of wireless networks in the last few years.
For your reference, the most accurate way to judge signal quality is Signal to Noise or SNR.
Hold down the option key on your Mac and click on the Apple icon in upper left corner of the screen
    Select System Profier.
Look down the list for the Network heading and then click on AirPort to highlight it
Look in the window to the right for the name of the wireless network, then look for the Signal / Noise readings. These will be negative numbers. Example: Signal / Noise   -60 dBm / -80 dBm
    SNR = Signal minus Noise, so -60 dB - (-80) dB = 20 dB
Then use the reference chart posted by expert user Tesserax to get a general idea of the connection quality
    o 40dB+ SNR = Excellent signal
    o 25dB to 40dB SNR = Very good signal
    o 15dB to 25dB SNR = Low signal
    o 10dB to 15dB SNR = Very low signal
    o 5dB to 10dB SNR = No signal
With only 10 feet between the computer and router, you definitely should see 40 dB+ readings under normal conditions
How does your signal look if you use this method?

  • My iphone 4s is over 2 years old and I need to replace the battery. How much will this cost at an Apple store?

I have an iphone 4s that is  over 2 years old. The phone's battery is no longer able to hold a  charge for an acceptable length of time.  Assuming I need to replace the battery, how much will this cost at an Apple store?

Basically, I'm new to Apple, despite using them before, but I've never actually owned my own.
Since buying this phone off a colleague at work, I seem to be having problems with it. First, I noticed how rubbish the battery life is, then my charger almost went up in flames and thirdly my camera lense is scratched beyond belief.
I know the phone isn't within warranty, although I was lead to believe it was before and during buying it, so basically I'm extremely disappointed with the general make up of iPhone's considering they cost such a **** of a lot of money, you'd think they'd be built to last.
Back to my main point, how much would it cost for a new battery? Or a new camera lense if anyone can help me with that? (I know that the back of the phone was refurbished just before my buying it, so literally just the camera lense)
    Thanks!
So basically it sounds like you bought an abused used iPhone and somehow that makes the phone subpar because dispite the abuse it should still last forever and look like new? Batteries don't last forever, even under ideal conditions, so your expectatoins are unrealistic. Take it in and have an estimate done.

  • Do I need to replace my battery? Or how do I fix this solution?

My iPod 4th generation shows that it is charging when I plug it in. When I unplug from full charge, and I use it. 5 minutes later, or even less, it shows that it goes down to 20% Also, sometimes when I plug in my iPod, it shows that it is charging, then all of a sudden it goes down to red charge (20% charge). Do I need to replace my battery because it is going bad? Or how do I fix this solution?

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Maybe only a bad battery or maybe somethng else

  • How do i know if I need to replace the battery in my MacBook Pro?

How do i know if I need to replace the battery in my MacBook Pro?

There are a few ways (none of which are covered in the above link). On more recent OS X versions, when you click the battery icon in the menu bar you may see a "Service Battery" or "Replace Now" message. If you aren't seeing that, the system probably thinks the battery is fine.
Also, in your System Information utility, there is a Power section that provides Health information for the battery, with a Condition status and Cycle Count. If the Condition is Normal and your battery is under 300 cycles (for removable batteries) or 1000 cycles (for non-removable batteries) it is not time to replace it yet.
But of course, the other time to replace it is if you don't think you're getting the runtime you want out of it.
If none of those is a problem, don't worry about it.

  • How much money needed to replace the iphone ?

    Hello all,
I have a iPhone 4s with greyed out problem. My phone had a water damage but it did not cause anything on the phone. However, 2 weeks ago my wifi just greyed out. I cannot use wifi anymore. What I am wondering is, how much money do I need to replace the phone ? I saw 150€ and 150$ to replace. I suppose Apple gives the "0" phone to customers after the payment but I want to be sure on the amount of the money ? Does anyone has an idea on that ?
    Thank you.

We are all fellow users on here and not Apple employees so cannot speak for Apple or what they will do.  That said, I would be very surprised if a US Apple store would be willing to do any replacement for this iPhone as it is not a US version.  Your friend can certainly visit an Apple store genius bar and see what they will do, there is no harm is asking.
A new one will still have the problems I noted above, no warranty outside the US, LTE service will be for the US frequencies, locked to a US carrier unless you pay the premium price for a factory unlocked iPhone, on the order of $600.
