How good is H.264 quality after multiple re-renderings.

How well does a high bit rate (e.g.30Mbps) H.264 maintain its quality after multiple re-renderings. I believe MPEG2 suffers quite a bit after several re-renderings, how does H.264 compare?
Thank you.

It's probably best not to do it. H.264 is a lossy compression format. Each pass will degrade the media to some degree.

  • How to re-run output determination after goods issue through idoc

    Hello,
i've got a question about output determination. We are currently in a process to automate picking, packing and goods issue through a 3rd party software. The software creates DELVRY03-Idocs including picking, packing and goods issue-information. Picking, packing and goods issue work just find and after submitting the idoc, the delivery is updated as needed.
The problem arises when it comes to printing the shipping document on the printer belonging to the picking station that just processed the delivery. To determine the correct printer, the external software includes the picking station number inside the idoc. A user exit in idoc_input_delivery puts the number (3 digits) into likp-traid. The customizing for using this field inside output determination is complete and seems to be working.
The problem is: as the number of the picking station is not known before goods issue, the LD00 message must not be generated before goods issue. I used the appropriate condition insinde the message scheme, the message is not generated until goods issue is complete. After processing the DELVRY03-Idoc, the message should be found and generated, but it isn't. When i take a look at the delivery after submitting the idoc, goods issue is complete, picking and packing is done - and no sign of an header message of type LD00. First i thought about a misconfiguration inside my customizing for output determination, but when i access the delivery via vl02n (change delivery), output determination seems to be processed again and without making any changes or actions, LD00 is generated and waiting for processing. After saving the delivery, LD00 is processed and the shipping document is printed exactly where it should be.
So, as my customizing seems to work and everything else around idoc processing doesn't make any problems either, i conclude that, after processing the idoc, R/3 just needs a little kick to re-run the output determination, find the now fitting condition for LD00, find the appropriate entry in the condition table and print the document.
I already tried report rsnast00, but this one just seems to run already created messages.
Any ideas how to automate this little "kick in the butt"?
    Thanks in advance!

I'm working on a similar issue with ws_delivery_update. I'm not using the IDOC as you are, but I'm using the function in a program of mine to PGI the delivery, but the output isn't being added to the delivery. I've tried to run the function twice as you suggested, but that doesn't seem to work. Do you have any suggestions or ideas on things to try?
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • How do I change the length of multiple photo's after I've added them?

How do I change the length of multiple photo's after I've added them?

    Hey,
The best way to do this is to select all the clips by holding down the shift key or command key if the clips you want to change are not all right next to each other and then selecting each clip that you want to change. Then double-click on the clips which will open up the inspector tab and then you can change the duration. If you want to just change all clips to the same duration just double-click on one of the photos and in the inspector tab next to the durationt tab you will see a box that says "add duration to all clips". If you click that, when you change the duration all the photos will change to that duration. That will then change the duration of all the clips at the same time.

  • How can I improve picture quality...now grainy after IOS update!

How can I improve picture quality...now grainy after IOS update!

    Hello, dreamer5th.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.  They are labeled for the iPhone; however, the steps also apply to your iPad.  Also, make sure to test the camera in well lighted conditions as this can affect picture quality.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

If that phone has been synced in iTunes, you can restore from the backup after having restored the phone.
There is also a little mac app that can read the iPhone backups that are in iTunes, called ibackupviewer.
Then when there is no backup of the iPhone: read the following aricle:

  • How to Produce the highest quality picture onto DVD or Blu-Ray

I have recently started looking at new video cameras and software. I will soon purchase FCS. One thing that I cant get a clear answer on is how to produce a high quality DVD / Blu-Ray Disc.
I stumbled upon a cinematographer by the name of Ray Roman. He is producing the kind of wedding videos that I want to produce in the near future. I see that he answered one of his followers by saying he shot the wedding with Cannon 7D DSLR cameras.
Here is a link to the video I am speaking about.
Ps. You need to scroll down a little to see the video.
    http://rayromanblog.com/2009/10/stephanie-tims-wedding-in-big-canoe-georgia/
Can anyone tell me if they believe that was shot with a DSLR type camera, and if so what steps do you believe were took to create such a high quality final product.
    1. What type of software is needed to produce this?
    2. Does it have to be a Blu-Ray disc to hold that clarity?
    3. Does FCS support Blu-Ray?
    4. If FCS does not support Blu-Ray can I Export the project to Roxio 10 Pro to make the Blu-Ray disc?
If I am totally off in left field Please Please Please let me know your opinion as to the best methods you have found to end up with a high quality product like that.
What I really need to know is
    1. What camera will capture the correct info to start with
    2. What software will edit it and encode it without losing all that high quality data
    3. What way to burn the project to disc to again retain all the clarity, brightness, sharpness etc...
    Thanks for you help Ron...

I'm at work so I can't see the video, but I can answer some workflow questions for you. If you see lots of shallow depth of field shots it was probably shot on an HDSLR. That's about the only thing they have going for them video wise.
    1) Without watching it I'm willing to guess it could all be done in Final Cut Studio or seeing CS4 in your signature, Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium/Master Collection (Premiere/After Effects).
    2) DVDs only show SD video. You can do anamorphic video to get widescreen video on a DVD, but anything 720p and up will require more than a DVD disc. You can also letterbox your video to get faux widescreen on a DVD.
    3) FCS doesn't really support blu-ray. Apple in general does not support blu-ray. You can export to a codec that is blu-ray friendly but there is no blu-ray authoring software, nor can any Mac be purchased with a blu-ray drive to my knowledge.
    4) There are lots and lots of ways to export from Final Cut Studio. I'm sure you can find several wrapper and codec combinations that Roxio will accept. The level of compatibility is a different issue..do you need subtitles, chapter markers, etc. If you need more than a video clip you'll probably hit some hurdles.
    1) I'd avoid an HDSLR to get started out. They are a pain in terms of workflow. You have to transcode (convert) all the video from the nasty H.264/PhotoJPEG codecs they record in (H.264 for the Canon cameras, PhotoJPEG for the Nikons) if you want them to be friendly in Apple's Final Cut or Adobe's Premiere.
It is important to understand video comes in a few types of formats, acquisition formats, editing formats, and delivery formats. A .mov file is a wrapper can be contain perhaps hundreds of different codecs (only one at a time), AIC, ProRes422, ProRes4444, Animation, the list goes on and on, it is the codec used that is important. H.264 is a compressed, lossy video codec developed for delivery and now used for acquisition in consumer devices. Editing software wants something simpler to edit with, like Apple ProRes422 or AIC for Final Cut. Transcode it and you won't have to render out every frame (let the computer build a preview video in an editing codec so it can play it back smoothly), then re-render when you do so little as add a cross dissolve.
That also doesn't even begin to look into the audio issue. Using an HDSLR for video capture basically says you need a separate device (and likely another operator) for audio acquisition. These will have to be synced up in post.
I'd say do yourself a favour and get a video camera if you want to shoot video. When you've got a feel for the workflow and a better understanding of what you're up against an HDSLR can liven up your shooting with some shallow depth of field effects.
    2) Final Cut Studio and Creative Suite 4 will both work with 7D video, but the 7D doesn't shoot "high quality data." The video it shoots is H.264, or compressed. Think of it as though every frame has gone through Photoshop and been saved as a JPG with the quality setting at 3 or so. It looks pretty good if you blow the background out of focus, but it has inherent issues that make it not the best for every situation.
    3) The best way to retain image quality is good workflow from beginning to end.

  • In iphoto, how do i save a photo after editing, in the same or higher file size, it's saves in a lower size

in iphoto, how do i save a photo after editing, in the same or higher file size, it's saves in a lower size

It's rather more complicated that this.
iPhoto is a lossless editor. You don't lose any quality on your shot in iPhoto.
The file size you see reported is the size of your iPhoto Preview: this is what gets used if you access the data via a media browser. It's a "good-enough-for-most-uses" version of the shot. Email it, upload to websites, use it in Presentation, Word processing file etc
If you want to set the quality yourself then Export the photo using the File -> Export command.
You can choose to export to Jpeg, Tiff or png. Tiff is lossless but the file sizes are up to 10 times larger. Jpeg allows you to choose different qualities: High, Medium or low. The difference is the amount of compression involved. High quality means very little compression. It's not unusual for photos exported at this setting to have a larger file size than the original.
Which setting you choose depends on the use you intend. Further editing, printing then high is important. Sending to Facebook? Well low will do just fine there as they're going to trash the file anyway.
But the key point: the file size only becomes an issue when you export.
    Regards
    TD

  • How do you retain the quality of Canon HD DSLR files?

There is a noticeable loss of contrast (and color) when Canon 1D DSLR 1280x720 60fps files are loaded into Premiere Pro CS6, (by me).  Many different project settings give this same result.  Whether New Sequence - Project settings are Canon XF MPEG2, Digital SLR, AVCHD, or XD CAM HD422, I get nearly the same, (or identical) results.  Changing New Sequence>Settings to enable Maximum Bit Depth and Maximum Rendering Quality, made no difference for me.
(NOTE - Edit>Preferences>Memory>Optimize Rendering for 'memory' was selected and the program restarted, before enabling Maximum Rendering Quality).
Comparing source files played in Windows Media Player, VLC player, and Canon Zoom Browser, all showed higher contrast than in Premiere Pro: toggling between the different windows.  Comparing identical frame screen captures from Premiere Pro CS6 (bitmap) and Canon Zoom Browser (jpeg-highest quality) showed the same results.  At full zoom in Photoshop CS4, certain pixels showed near posterization in the Premiere screen shot.  It seemed that gray tones of medium brightness were affected most.
The Canon 1d DSLR stores files as a .MOV type, but I don't think Premiere considers this when loading source files.  I don't own the Quicktime program.
I don't have a CUDA graphics card, but I thought that this card was not supposed to affect file coding or de-coding, according to the Video2Brain hardware optimization tutorials.  Although it might have been that read and write TIMES were unaffected.  These tutorials covered a LOT of (good) material.  My notes say that CUDA cards most affect scaling, blending, 'effects' operations, color corrections, and framing.  Also, by setting New Sequence>Settings> to optimize rendering, I think I should have got  results similar to a CUDA card.
For me, the loss of contrast (and color) is a significant loss of image quality.  You get the same results from a dirty lens, or shooting through an unfocused obstacle.  I would appreciate any help in this matter.

Thanks John T. Smith, using the Video2Brain tutorial method got me a sequence format of AVC-Intra 100 720 60p, which is one I had not tried before.  I believe this format will give me the highest quality video for Canon 1D M4 1280x720 files.
What I see as far as contrast is very close to what I saw before.  Whether the contrast I see is good or bad depends both on personal opinion and monitor charactoristics; mainly the type of monitor and how the monitor is calibrated.  Yes I still see lower contrast in the Premiere video, compared to how its displayed in VLC, Windows Media Player and Canon Zoom Browser.  Based on my Photoshop experience the Premiere video seems to be going through some kind of low-pass filter.  Yes the contrast is less, but the noise is less as well.  How would the Premiere video look after adjustment layers, or Shadow highlight combined with resharpening I cannot say.   It might look good to me and bad to someone else or vise versa.  What I can say for certain in my mind, is that the Premiere video seems to go through some kind of low pass filtering compared to little or no low pass filtering for what you see in the other 3 programs.  And based on my personal habits, I would probably be tempted at this point to adjust that low pass filter in some way.  However, it seems that standard practice would be to apply adjustment layers, etc as I mentioned before.  I'll reserve my opinion for now.

  • I lost all of my music on my iPhone and must have separate iTunes account. How do I see if I have multiple accounts?

i lost all of my music on my iPhone and must have separate iTunes account. How do I see if I have multiple accounts?

It may be same computer but if a new, empty, library has been created then it is not the same library your device was synced with...
For general library squiffiness following an upgrade or crash the easiest thing is to restore your last backup, but I guess if it were that simple you wouldn't be here.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup! For example grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time. And if your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes regardless of drive letter or path.

  • Very poor video quality after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I have very poor video quality after transcoding the video file (MPEG) in  Adobe Encore CS5.1. Below you see my used settings in my filmproject.
The problem exists after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1. I checked all steps and found out that there is no problem until transcoding. My exported file  in MPEG has very good video and audio quality.
    Facts:
    1. Camcorder: Panasonic AG-AC160AEJ
Operating System : Windows 7, 64 Bit, Ultimate edition
    Source files: MTS files
    Recording settings (clip settings):
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 25,00
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0
    2. Sequence settings in Premiere Pro
Sequence was created from Clip directly with settings above.
    3. Exporting settings in Adobe Premiere Pro:
Match sequence settings was activated. Now other changes were set.
    4. Exported File:
    Video
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Data Transfer Rate: 25920 kBit / s
    Frame rate: 25
    Audio:
    Bit rate: 384 kBit / s
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Frequence: 48 kHz
    5. Transcoding settings in Adobe Encore:
I used different transcoding settings such as automatic DVD Transcoding, CBR and VBR.I also set “use maximum render quality”. But all results were always the same: very poor quality.
Why does the encore transcoding cause such bad video quality?
How can I solve this problem?
    Please help me soon.
    Best regards.

    Hi Ann,
    1) I did not only „Automatic (based on source)“ options in my tests, but also many other customized options.
The results are very poor. I have done a new test with the following settings. The result is also poor:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_mpeg2dvd_1.m2v
    Export Settings:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Preset: Custom
Codec: MainConcept MPEG Video, Quality: 5
    Frame Rate: 25 fps
    Field Order: Upper
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Automatic (based on source)
    Render at Maximum Rate: [active]
    Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 2 pass
    Minimum Bitrate (Mbps): 5
    Target Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    Maximum Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    GOP Settings
    M Frames: 4
    N Frames: 12
    Use Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    Multiplexer: None
    2) Why shouldn’t I use the “Match Sequence Settings” in exporting? Because of the big output file size?
I used it and the results are very good as I expected:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_MatchSequenceSettings.mpeg
    Export Settings
    Match Sequence Settings [selected]
    1920 x 1080, 25 fps, Upper, Quality 50
    User Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    3) I tried also Dynamic Link in PremierePro (to Encore).
    The results are also poor.
    4) I will test also LagarithLoslessCodec and frameserving +DGMPGDec. But the video is vertical long drawn-ot.
I think I did not use it correctly.

  • Video Quality After Transcoding Disappointing In CS4

    To All,
I am new to Encore so my situation may be as a result of my ignorance.  I have come to appreciate HD video so I purchased a Hauppauge HD PVR to capture programs in HD.  I have captured multiple HD video clips in a .mp4 format. I bring those clips into Premier Pro CS4 and when viewing them individually, they look great - crisp, clear video that looks fantastic.  Once I have put my video together (consisting of several clips that is about 1 hour long total), I then select Adobe Dynamic Link and send the project to Encore to burn onto a 25GB blu-ray disc.  I have tried 2 or 3 different settings in Encore and the result is a video that is 1920 x 1080 full screen but the video quality is disappointing.  It's as though a "soft filter" is used in the video effectively taking away the crisp, clean video I see in the original clips I imported into Premier Pro - the very thing I have come to love about HD (ex: beads of sweat on faces, seeing individual strands of hair on someones head, etc.).  Am I being unrealistic to expect the same quality video after being transcoded in Encore that I see in the individual clips I originally inported into Premier Pro or I am I just doing something wrong?  Thanks for the help in advance!

It sounds like you are familiar with Encore.  Let me ask this general question.  Can one expect to achieve the same video quality after transcoding in Encore as the video originally imported or is some loss inevitable?
Actually, this should answer both questions.
What happens first is that your capture device/card will compress the signal originally. You then Import this footage into PrPro for editing. It will not be edited in it native format, as it is compressed and is also GOP (Group of Pictures) format, i.e. there are not real Frames to edit. These must be created for Frame editing. Now, you're working pretty much in a good replication of your initially compressed files. Here comes the problem: you now wish to Export to a BD. You need to re-compress and Transcode this material in PrPro to a format that can be used on a BD player. A second compression and Transcode will need to take place.
As an example, lets use FAX machines and desktop printers. You create a document in Word and print it out with your 1200 dpi desktop printer. This is a pretty high quality document. It's like the HD TV signal. Next, you run your original document printout through your copy machine. This still looks pretty good, but not up to the original. This is what your capture card has now produced. Then, you take that copy and FAX it to a friend. It now starts to show degradation. This is like that second compression and Transcoding.
Not sure what a better workflow would be for HD TV capture.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How can I get HD quality on DVD

OK, how can I get HD quality on DVD like I can for youtube?   I use mpeg2 or H.264 for my youtube videos and they look fantastic on there.  I use the NTSC widescreen for my DVD's and they look like crap compared to my youtube videos. I even notice that my video ends are cut off a bit compared to my youtube videos.  It's like it is burning the dvd's in standard instead of HD.  I have a canon HF200 HD camcorder.   Is there a way to get that same quality on DVD?  keep it simple for me.  I'm using PE7
    Thanks

Do you mean that you wish to Burn BD material to a DVD disc, or something else?
DVD is, by definition, SD material, and was designed to be viewed on a CRT TV. It is not HD, and that is what BD is all about. You cannot alter the DVD-specs., as they are written in stone. However, one can do things with a blank DVD disc. What they do, depends on what one needs.
Please let us know exactly what you want to do, and we can give you tips.
    Good luck,

  • How do you get a line with MULTIPLE fields to WRAP ?

How do you get a line with MULTIPLE fields to WRAP ?
    Good afternoon everyone...
THE PROBLEM: Why doesn’t a line with multiple fields WRAP?
HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE/WHAT I”D LIKE TO SEE
If I have 2 fields on a line (this is now a hypothetical example and nothing to do with my actual report)….let’s call them field A and field B. And if field A has values of all ‘X’ and field B has values of all ‘Y’…then….the normal case would be (ignore dots – only for spacing):
    A……………………… B
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
But what if A is too long? I would want to see B wrap onto the next line like this:
    A……………………………………………………B
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYY
    YYYYYYYYYYYYY
And similarly….if B is extra long, can the line print as:
    A………………………. B
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
    YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I don’t want the case where B is long and I get:
    A………………… …B…
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
    ………………………..YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I can see how you can wrap an individual field like that…but how can you WRAP a line of[b] fields within the frame so it wraps to the BEGINNING of the frame on next line?
    My SPECIFIC CASE
I have a report that I have stripped down to a simple structure for the purposes of this explanation.
My DATA MODEL has the main QUERY (for plant family and species data). The columns of the query are divided into 2 groups. The 1st GROUP contains the family data. Below that is the rest of the species data in a 2nd GROUP.
Linking from the 2nd species group (above) is a new QUERY to extract REGION data based on the common key field. Under this 2nd query is another group with all the REGION columns.
The LAYOUT MODEL has a group frame (the main , base one)
On top of this is a repeating frame based on the 1st group (family data).
On top of this is another repeating frame for the 2nd group (species data).
On top of this is 2 Frames on the same line line. The 1st frame contains columns from the species group .
The 2nd frame on this line is a repeating frame. The PRINT DIRECTION for this frame is ACROSS/DOWN. It repeats details of the REGION where the species is found. These columns come from this group come from the REGION QUERY and GROUP.
All fields on the report line have variable horizontal elasticity.
The problem is that when there is too much data on the line, it does NOT WRAP to the 2nd line.. It TRUNCATES.
Can the line be made to WRAP????..
In my current report, 1 of 2 things is happening:
    1) All fields print on the line until it hits the page boundary and then it just stops. Truncated!
    2) All fields print on the current line, then Oracle Reports throws a new page to print the REMAINDER of the long, input line
But I would like a LONG line to continue printing onto the following line of the same page.
I have tried all combinations of the elasticity fields and the ‘ADVANCED LAYOUT’ properties.
I have been focussing my attention with this problem on the frames .
We are using REPORT BUILDER V 6.0.8.26.0
Thankyou to anyone who may offer assistance.
    Tony Calabrese.

    Steve,
you gain 1 thing, but you lose something else!
    This thing is SO frustrating!
    Hey Steve! Good afternoon.
I've done as you suggested....I have a long text boilerplate item - the only 1 on the line...and it has all the column in it.
    So it looks like:
    &col1 &col2 &col3 &col4 &col5 etc etc etc
And the line expands nicely to each field's requirements.
And when it gets to the right page boundary...it WRAPS to the next line! Beautiful!!!
The only thing is that...when I had individual fields across the line I was able to create format triggers for those fields. And in doing so I was able to reduce the font and change the justification. I had to do that because some of the fields had to appear superscripted.
So I wanted something like (ignore the dots):
    ...................................ppppp
AAAA BBBB CCCCC DDDD EEEE FFFFFF
So the field of 'ppppp' appeared slightly higher on the line than the other fields...
I can't see how I can do this with a single TEXT field containing all the &COL values.
Have you ever come across anything like this?
    Thankyou again,
    Tony Calabrese 12/4/2007

  • How to calculate the individual sums of multiple columns in a single query

    Hello,
Using Oracle 11gR2 on windows 7 client. I have a question on calculating sum() on multiple columns on different columns and store the results in a view. Unfortunately I could not post the problem here as it keeps on giving error "Sorry, this content is not allowed", without telling where or what it is! So I had to post it in the stack-overflow forum, here is the link: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16529721/how-to-calculate-the-individual-sums-of-multiple-columns-in-a-single-query-ora
Will appreciate any help or suggestion.
    Thanks

ThanksLooks like you want a simple group by.
    select
              yr
         ,      mnth
         ,      region
         ,     sum(handled_package)
         ,     sum(expected_missing_package)
         ,     sum(actual_missing_package)
    from test
    group by
         yr, mnth, region
    order by
yr, mnth, region;I wouldn't recommend storing your data for year / month in 2 columns like that unless you have a really good reason. I would store it as a date column and add a check constraint to ensure that the date is always the first of the month, then format it out as you wish to the client.
    CREATE TABLE test
         year_month                              date,
        Region                     VARCHAR2(50),
        CITY                       VARCHAR2(50),
        Handled_Package            NUMBER,
        Expected_Missing_Package   NUMBER,
        Actual_Missing_Package     NUMBER
    alter table test add constraint firs_of_month check (year_month = trunc(year_month, 'mm'));
    ME_XE?Insert into TEST (year_month, REGION, CITY, HANDLED_PACKAGE, EXPECTED_MISSING_PACKAGE, ACTUAL_MISSING_PACKAGE)
      2  Values (to_date('2012-nov-12', 'yyyy-mon-dd'), 'Western', 'San Fransisco', 200, 10, 5);
    Insert into TEST (year_month, REGION, CITY, HANDLED_PACKAGE, EXPECTED_MISSING_PACKAGE, ACTUAL_MISSING_PACKAGE)
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-02290: check constraint (TUBBY.FIRS_OF_MONTH) violated
    Elapsed: 00:00:00.03
    ME_XE?Insert into TEST (year_month, REGION, CITY, HANDLED_PACKAGE, EXPECTED_MISSING_PACKAGE, ACTUAL_MISSING_PACKAGE)
      2  Values (to_date('2012-nov-01', 'yyyy-mon-dd'), 'Western', 'San Fransisco', 200, 10, 5);
    1 row created.

    ME_XE?select
      2        to_char(year_month, 'fmYYYY')    as year
      3     ,  to_char(year_month, 'fmMonth')   as month
      4     ,  Region
      5     ,  CITY
      6     ,  Handled_Package
      7     ,  Expected_Missing_Package
      8     ,  Actual_Missing_Package
      9  from test;
    YEAR         MONTH                REGION                         CITY                    HANDLED_PACKAGE EXPECTED_MISSING_PACKAGE ACTUAL_MISSING_PACKAGE
    2012         November             Western                        San Fransisco                       200                       10                      5
    1 row selected.

ME_XE?Then you have nice a nice and easy validation that ensures you data integrity.

    HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - E710n
    Windows 7 (64 bit)
How do I scan a document with multiple pages into one file?  My old printer (psc 2110) asked after each scan if I wanted to scan another page.  At the end I had one pdf file with multiple pages.
This new one creates one file for each page and I cannot find a way to create one pdf file with multiple pages.
    This question was solved.

    Hi mpw101,
If you load the papers into the ADF - Automatic Document Feeder, and then select Document to PDF then they will all be scanning into one file. Let me know if this works for you?
