How good is Techtool Pro to use and maintain my Mac?
I am considering a package to help diagnose problems as well as keep my Mac in top shape. In general Is Techtool Pro a good solution to this? Thanks for any advice you can give me.
I have had the file recovery feature come in handy on occasion as well as the hardware testing features which I have used often. The ability to create a separate partition from which you can boot the system and run the tools should you have a problem with your primary drive partition can be a life-saver. For all of these functions there are other tools available, but to have them all on one package is handy (and less expensive). In addition, there are times when one tool can't repair a particular problem but another one can.

I've read before that it is not wise to use the TechTool Pro directory maintainace and optimizer on Tiger. Anly clue? I'm using the latest 4.1.1 and Tiger 10.4.5. ThanksI've had no problems with TTP v 4.1.1 doing the Directory Maintenance routine and the optimization routine under 10.4.4; I just installed 10.4.5 but haven't tried it out yet. I have even cross-checked the results after directory maintenance using DiskWarrior v 3.0.3, and DiskWarrior always returns a "fully-optimized" directory graphic with no changes necessary. Unless 10.4.5 breaks it, the Directory Maintenance process works just fine, and Optimization seems to work properly as well.

If your info is correct you need to first buy Snow Leopard from the Apple on-line store ($20) install and update to 10.6.8 and then buy Lion from the App Store for $20.

Is it possible to virtually bypass the battery on a macbook pro (retina 2014) and power the mac directly via AC power?
E.g. Dell allows you to plug the laptop into AC power but prevent battery charging.
Note: I do not want to physically remove the battery.

I guess the only solution to my question would be an app which virtually disconnects the battery but tricks the mac into thinking the battery is still connected. I'm just surprised Apple haven't yet started to build prisons for the government - considering how well they lock up their software and hardware! -

How to implement clone() with Evolvable POF and maintain future data.
POF evolvable objects support backward compatibiliy by maintaining "futureData".
If my client needs to clone a POF Evolvable (i.e. one that extends com.tangosol.io.AbstractEvolvable) before changing it and then writing it back to the cache , how does one implement clone and maintain future data?

considering that PortableObjectSerializer writes the greater of implementation and data version as version id at serialization, it means that it assumes that an implementation from a later version than the data ALWAYS upgrades the data to the implementation version, it is correct that way.

I do not know what you mean by that. Any currently produced Mac is likely to be supported for as long as every other Apple product that has ever been produced. Most Apple products are relegated to "vintage" status approximately six years after which they are discontinued by Apple, meaning that the non-Retina MBP is likely to be supported through 2020. -
How to set macbook pro to use scan snap ix500 as default scanner
I have upgraded to Quickbook for Mac 2013 and want to utilize the attached document feature from within Quickbooks. However, it points to image capture which brings up my HP printer/scanner and not my Scan Snap ix500. How do I change it so that the Scan Snap is the default?

Firefox continually re-installs AVG Toolbar and Secure Search and I need to be able to remove everything AVG permanently. My Alternative is to use another browser, so please advise asap?

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
#From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select ''Add-ons'', or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the ''Tools'' menu and click ''Add-ons''.
#Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the ''Extensions'' button on the left side of the window.
#You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
#To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the ''Remove'' button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
#Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the ''Restart now'' link in the message.

How good is the clear history? And does it clear everything?
My 2nd pc is used by multiple people and i downloaded Safari on it.
I was wondering if i cleared the history and was in the "Protected mode" (sorry i cant name it right, i am on another pc now)
Then would the next person who used it not be able to, Go to the sites i went to (I have a annoying sister who follows me everywhere on the internet), View my history, If i set it to remember passwords and screen names, When i clear the history, will it clear the passwords/screen names.
And i have ran it for about 1 hour so far and saw no bugs, and Love the browser. It is the fastest browser that i installed on that pc (between IE7, Firefox, and Safari) And one that works best on the pc (Like 900Mhz processor, 128 or 256Mb of ram, less then 20 gig hard drive)Click Edit > Reset Safari and check the items you want to delete. This WILL delete all your history, usernames and passwords etc...
You can also use a feature called Private Browsing (Edit > Private Browsing), this is just like regular browsing except it does not save your history, usernames and passwords etc... -

After updating my Mac OS X to 10.6.8, my Logic Pro would always crash when opening a project file that uses the Nexus (version 1) plugin...
I spent hours upon hours, LONG DAYS AND NIGHTS trying to resolve the issue searching all over the internet for solutions and NOTHING helped besides the suggestion to upgrade to Nexus 2, which was not possible for me, or downgrade my OS X to 10.6.7 ...which wouldve been a very annoying procedure for me...

--ONCE YOU APPLY THAT, TRY TESTING THE SOUNDS IN THE PLUGIN AND IT SHOULD BE WORKING FINE!

How can I sync my Address Book and ICal with Mac and PC with Palm Desktop?
I now have the IPhone and I love it!!! But I have some issues and need help please. I have a PC at work and a Mac at home. In the PC I use the Palm Desktop Version 4.1.4 and I have there all my contacts (more than 1,100), all my date book (since 1998) and all my memos (about 600). I want to see what would be the best way get rid of my Palm Handheld and have only the IPhone, but I have encountered some problems and many steps. Everyday I have to sync the Palm Handheld at work, then sync the Palm Handheld at home with my Mac (using The Missing Sync, but it takes a long time every time), then sync the IPhone. Can you please help me??? How can I sync my data from my PC (Palm Desktop) with the IPhone? Another, thing; I do not want to use Outlook at work because the information that I want to sync (Palm) is my personal data and I want to keep using the Palm software for that.

Unfortunately, the iPhone is not designed to sync with Palm software. As stated in the minimum system requirements, the iPhone can sync with Outlook (2003, 2007 or Express) on a PC, or with iCal and Entourage on a Mac. If you do not want to use Outlook on the PC, you can sign up for a free Yahoo account and sync with Yahoo Address Book. Yahoo Address Book can be used to sync from PC or Mac. How do you Redistribution EIGRP into OSPF and maintain a distance of 250 for a static route?
Ok, I have scoured the forums long enough and have to post. The design is below. I moved a firewall to our new data center, which required adding some static routes for VPN connections and broadband backups. To minimize the amount of static routes I redistribute static into EIGRP with a route-map and prefix-list.
My problem is the next part of my network. When the data leaves my 56128's it hits an edge device connecting to our dark fiber. On this edge device I am running OSPF onto the dark fiber, then redistribute some EIGRP subnets into OSPF and again all is well.
Everything works up until the point the redistributed routes hit my RIB at my main data center where I am running IBGP. IBPG is run between our MPLS router and core for all our remote sites. When my backup route from the 56128's hits the cores, it supersedes the BGP route because the AD route O E2 [110/20] is lower than the BGP AD B [200/0]. Given the configuration below what can be done to remedy this? Oh when I redistribute I can only change the AD for the backup routes, all other routes should stay the same.

I didnt have this problem until I moved my firewalls. They plugged into the cores where IBGP was running and the static never kicked in unless the bgp route disappeared. I guess I could use my static redistribution for my VPN sites and use statics across the cores for the handful of backup links I have. -

"Burn my DVD" refers to the process of taking data FROM the Macbook and copying them TO the DVD, not potentially the other way around, as you have asked the question.
Are you wanting to copy (rip) movies from a DVD and place them into iTunes?
