Adobe TV has a whole selection of free videos that should help you to get started.
    http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-photoshop-elements-8/
You can also find lots of videos using Google...
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=opera&hs=6js&rls=en&q=Photoshop%20Elements%208&u m=1&ie=UTF-8&tbo=u&tbs=vid:1&source=og&sa=N&tab=wv
    or YouTube
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1ZEEPNaqQ0
If you just search for Photoshop Elements (without limiting it to Photoshop Elements 8 as I did) you will get even more results...most if not all things should work in version 8. (Version 8 user interface will look different and may have additonal features as each version gets new goodies.)

  • How DBWn Works

    Hi,
I want to know how DBWn works
SAy; There is a tablespace DATASR3.
This tablespace consists of 10 Datafiles.
6 Datafiles are already filled. (Reached to its MAXLIMIT.)
and Other 4 datafiles is in the preocess of getting the data.
Im interesting in why its happens like this?... How DBWn will going to add/write data to datafiles.
Is it in a circular fashion OR randomly it (DBwn) decides to which datafiles it goes to write.
If its circular fashion then all datafiles must filled...according to order. (then it is not possible to full-fill only 6 Datafiles?)
DBWn and LGWR works in the same way? .... Writing to files one after the other!
    Regards,

    Hi user2734911,
    Did you search via google?
Database writer process (DBWn) is a background process that writes buffers in the database buffer cache to data files.
Modified or new data is not necessarily written to a datafile immediately. To reduce the amount of disk access and to increase performance, data is pooled in memory and written to the appropriate data files all at once (in bulk mode), as determined by the background process database writer process (DBWn).
The disk write can happen before or after the commit. See Database Buffer Cache.
After a COMMIT, the database writes the redo buffers to disk but does not immediately write data blocks to disk. Instead, database writer (DBWn) performs lazy writes in the background.
The database writer (DBWn) process periodically writes cold, dirty buffers to disk. DBWn writes buffers in the following circumstances:
    * A server process cannot find clean buffers for reading new blocks into the database buffer cache.
As buffers are dirtied, the number of free buffers decreases. If the number drops below an internal threshold, and if clean buffers are required, then server processes signal DBWn to write.
The database uses the LRU to determine which dirty buffers to write. When dirty buffers reach the cold end of the LRU, the database moves them off the LRU to a write queue. DBWn writes buffers in the queue to disk, using multiblock writes if possible. This mechanism prevents the end of the LRU from becoming clogged with dirty buffers and allows clean buffers to be found for reuse.
    * The database must advance the checkpoint, which is the position in the redo thread from which instance recovery must begin.
    * Tablespaces are changed to read-only status or taken offline.
DBWn and LGWR works in the same way? .... Writing to files one after the other!*
LGWR does sequential writes - so it takes lesser time to do its job.
It needs to keep a record of what operations were peformed on the data and hence doesn't have a requirement to post the data to the actual data blocks of interest.
However DBWn needs to write data to appropriate data blocks - which means it need to first find where to write and then do the writing job.
Since a sequential write takes lesser time, it is advantageous to have separate LGWR and DBWn processes.
The user gets better performance because LGWR does it faster sequential job while DBWn does its slow job in the background*.

  • How DRM works? Adobe-id, authorize devices, Content Server, Adobe Digital Edition etc.

I fail to understand why there isn't a coherent end-to-end documentation of how DRM works with all the individual pieces ADE, Content-Server, adobe-id coming together in protecting/limiting copying of PDFs and binding limited number of devices. I've googled enough and went through forums but the information is scattered and missing. Could someone throw light on these sample queries -
    1. Say, I've ADE installed on PC, which I'm using to authorize a device, say sony reader. Will I've to connect to internet (be online) while authorizing the device even when my ADE is already authorized? How does Adobe ensure that a document is copied to only limited 5/6 devices?
    2. Do content-server, say installed at Overdrive etc., interact with Adobe for any adobe-id sharing?
    3. At what instances do ADE interact (over the internet) with Adobe directly and with Content-server directly when making the drm-enabled PDF available for reading. How does the interaction look like while transferring the drm-enabled PDF to another device, say Sony reader, from ADE?
    4. How is the information regarding PDF sharing tracked and managed to ensure limited sharing/copying? Is there a central server managing that?
    5. What if I download the same PDF from another PC with ADE authroized with same adobe-id? Will the new PC be treated as 2nd device? If so, is that information stored and synced regularly from main Adobe authorization servers and content-servers?
Please note that I'm not interested in knowing Adobe's intellectual property but the flow and the interaction among it's various pieces.

When you deactivate a device, the used activation is not added back to the pool.
How do I increase the number of activations if I run out?
You can go to this Adobe page to increase the number of activations: http://www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions/.

  • [SOLVED]Lsmod explanation - How it works!

Hi all! Its kind of a silly question but want to know how lsmod works. Man and info pages does not have enough information and so do google. When I do lsmod it shows columns, first is 'modules', 'in use' etc..
Now there are a lot of modules that show blank in 'in use' column, like example ipv6 shows not used by anything. So should I assume that its not required by system/device, as of now and that its unnecessary burdeon and should be removed? or how it works?
    Any answer is most appreciated.

sorry I meant 'Used by' and not 'in use'.
Thanks for the answer..so there are a LOT of modules which show count as 0, so does this mean they are not required/unnecessary. In that case to remove them should I use rmmod only or after that I need to delete them manually as well?
Edit*  Strange thing is both of my NIC card modules are showing count 0 in Used by column, but I am very well using it right now!  *Edit

  • How to work with both desktop and Surface pro 3

    Hello,
I have a desktop for my normal use of Adobe Creative Cloud for Photoshop and Lightroom.  I have my lightroom catalog on a separate external drive.  I just got Surface pro 3 to do Adobe on it.  I am now confused on how to work on Surface and how to access my Lightroom catalog.
    Thanks for your help.
    Mo

Just install Lightroom on your Surface Pro, plug-in the external drive, and double-click the LR catalog file.

  • How to work with 360 video?

I am new to AE and am trying to work with a 360 equirectangular video I shot with a Freedom 360 and 6 go pros.
Are there any tutorials on how to work with 360 spherical videos? Do I need to download additional plugins?
    Thank you,
    Phil

    Phil,
Of course, the image needs to be big for this, but the plugin you would use is CC Sphere.
Drop your movie into a composition and apply CC Sphere to the video.
Then set the Render option in the effect to "Inside".
Under Shading set Ambient to 100% and Diffuse to 0%.
Then scale inside the effect until the image fills the screen.
Then you'll be able to use the Rotate Y controls in CC Sphere to spin around inside your video!
You can also add Optics Compensation and Reverse the Lens Distortion to straighten out your image.
Let me know if you have any questions!

  • Hey Guys, from Germany. I want to connect my iMac 21" with my Tv just for fun. Does anyone know, how it works. With a Hdmi adapter?

Hey guys! I want to connect my Imac 21 " with my Tv just for fun. Does anyone know , how it works?

Selecting the correct adapter and cable depends on which year model iMac you have and what inputs the TV has?
Check the User's Guide that came with your iMac or your Spec's at > Apple - Support - Technical Specifications
to see if your iMac has a Mini-DVI or Mini DisplayPort and then select that adapter with the correct connection for the TV.
Example: if you have a 2010 or 2011 iMac and an HDMI ready TV, then you would want the > Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support - Apple Store (U.S.)

  • I was looking at the "Find my iPhone" app and I have a doubt regarding how it works for the macbook. In order to detect the location, the macbook should remain signed into iCloud. What if the thief logs out of iCloud. Would we able to locate the macbook?

I was looking at the "Find my iPhone" app and I have a doubt regarding how it works for the macbook. In order to detect the location, the macbook should remain signed into iCloud. What if the person who has stolen my macbook logs out of iCloud.
It should work fine for iPhone/iPad because we can enable "Restrictions" to prevent the user from signing out of iCloud. Do we have simialr settings for the macbook?
    Thanks,

If it's not on the device list, it indicates that someone has gone to Find My iPhone on icloud.com and manually deleted it from the device list (as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0eeddd), and it has not gone back online since (which would cause it to reappear on the device list; Find My iPhone has been turned of in settings on the device; the iClolud account has been deleted from the device; or the entire devices has been erased and restored.
Unfortunately, there's no other way to track the phone other than through Find My iPhone.  You could call your carrier and see if they would blackliste it so at least the theif couldn't use it.

  • I need to change my apple ID because I'm changing my email address. I'm worried that when I do, I'll no longer be able to use my first generation apple tv unless I change the apple ID there as well.  Does anyone know how this works??

I have to change my apple ID because I'm changing my email address. (I have a Comcast address and am switching to U-verse) I'm worried that when I do, I'll no longer be able to use my first generation apple tv unless I change the apple ID there as well. I'm also trying to find out if changing my apple ID is going to interfere with getting my itunes content on my computer and my iphone.  Does anyone know how this works??

My iTunes appleID is an old defunct e-mail address - it does not have to be functional.
Do what Winston says to ensure you keep getting correspondence related to that ID.
