How "greedy" is BT Vision?

Hi,
As I understand it BT Vision customers have 'quality of service' on their line which (simplistically) somehow allocates a portion of the users available bandwidth to the BT Vision box, leaving whatever is left for 'computer use'!
Now if (as in my case) my download speed is only around 1600 Kbps (which I know isn't really enough for BT Vision anyway) the situation can arise when, (at times) when there is not enough left to even 'surf the web' effectively!
My question is, if I temporarily remove the broadband connection from the broadband box, surely that should then free up all available bandwidth for computer use... or should it?
Although I am using 'Homeplugs' (and have tried both the BT black ones and also some slower Solwise ones!) I believe I am correct in thinking that these don't actually have any built in intelligence to allocate resources themselves.

Throttling, shaping, call it what you will but it's a fact that your broadband is being slowed down by BT.
I've conducted several ongoing tests and can prove it - as can a collegue of mine  who has the service on a seperate exchange.
If BT do indeed read this: 
Orange are canvasing on unbundled exchanges with everything in £17.
Couple that with 3 hd discs per month on blu-ray (lovefilm) is still cheaper than one hd movie download with vision @ £4.99. 
It's not looking good is it?
There are plenty of Bt fanboys on this forum who won't hear a bad word about the service but please the bottom line here is we want what we're paying for (broadband speed) or to be more honest with these "up to..7meg" examples to say actually you can get 3meg.
Finally, the only reason I haven't binned the service off is for 2 reasons.
1: The recorder and epg interface.
2: The advent of Freeview hd and multiroom (oh yes it's coming i'm told), may be around the corner.
Not unreasonable is it? Before i get shot down in flames no doubt.

    EITHER i give or edit all the above mentioned files to access my EBS home page using the url http://devl.rel.net:8000/ i cant able to access the page but other sites can be browsed, since at the time of installation of oracle linux i have given the hostname as devl.rel.net and our domain name is rel.net.
    Please can anyone help how to access my EBS globally. I have accessed the EBS login page for the first time at the time of installation only after that i cant able to access. Instance is working fine, everything has been started. I have pinged the same url ping devl.rel.net it says 0% packet loss from a terminal.

  • How to export r12 vision database

    hi,
    i want to export r12 vision database. tried to do it with apps/apps@sysdba but it is showing "invalid privileges". Same error with sys/manager & system/manager.
    Is password correct  for sys & system?
    Can anyone help with steps for how to export r12 vision database?

    You need to connect as sysdba or system to export the database -- Export/import process for 12.0 or 12.1 using 11gR1 or 11gR2 (Doc ID 741818.1)
    The password for both SYS and SYSTEM in the Vision Demo is manager -- http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18727_01/doc.121/e12842/T422699i4783.htm
    If the password is incorrect, source the database env file and issue:
    $ sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL> alter user system identified by <new password>;
    SQL> alter user sys identified by <new password>;

  • How to delete Zen Vision:M empty playlis

    I've run into this problem twice now in the less than one week I've owned my Zen Vision:M. I create a playlist either through Winamp 5.2's Portable Media Player plugin (which is simple, but is OK for managing music) or through the Creative MediaSource software. In the second case, I imported an existing playlist, then created a new playist on my ZVM, then copied the songs from the old playlist to the new playlist. That is the process that I read about someone else using in these forums.
    Problems:
    () Songs appear to be duplicated in the process and it takes forever for the playlist to be finalized. That's been mentioned enough in these forums and isn't the issue at hand.
    (2) Multiple playlists with the same name appear on the ZVM with all (or nearly all) of them empty. To be honest, I don't know if they are all empty because it appears to have made one playlist per song in copied over and I don't have the patience to look through all 40 of them. Only one playlist with this name appears when viewing via Creative MediaSource or any other software I've tried.
    (3) I deleted the playlist via Creative MediaSource, hoping to clean up the problem. The result was that the single valid playlist disappeared, but the empty ones remained and are only visible on the ZVM itself. I've tried deleting them one by one on the ZVM, but when I leave the playlists, then re-enter the menu they are all magically there again.
    The first time I solved this by returning my player to the store and getting a replacement, but this appears to be an "undocumented feature". Anyone familiar with this or know how I can clean out the invalid playlists? Thanks!

    Well, I contacted Creative's support staff today. Summary: there is nothing to do except reformat my ZVM and start over from scratch. Not exactly a solution, but that's the state of things as of today. If anyone else runs into this problem, please contact Creative so as to give them incenti've to fix this bug as soon as possible. Of course, I could also state the obvious that the best solution is to support standard playlist functions or importing of standard playlists. THAT would make LOTS of people happy!
    That's all folks.
    [EDIT] I found a fix that didn't involve formatting the dri've. Support sent me a link (http://us.creative.com/support/kb/article.asp?l=3&sid=4794) to walk me through the formatting process and I decided to try "Clean up" first.     What are your desired applications?  Vision comes in three varieties:  Vision Acquisition Software-VAS (just for image acquisition), Vision Development module (Acquire and process), and Vision Builder for Automated test (for stand alone Vision inspections). 
    NI-Motion is the motion driver that allows you to do motion control.  
    All of these pieces of software are separate from LabVIEW.  NI-Motion comes with our motion hardware and VAS comes with our frame grabbers.  You can download evaluation versions at ni.com to see how each of the programs work.

    I bought the vision m online, but i bought it in u US-store. So my power-adapter does not fit at my home in belgium. But how do i load the vision m via usb without installing it first ?
    When I install the drivers and finally when i need to plug in the vision m it cannot be found... because it is low powere

    Now during another try at installing the drivers when connecting it did suddenly load with usb but i already but apparently windows did not found it yet than...
    So wait 5 minutes for the player to be a bit charged, i unplug the usbcable, i install the drivers but when asked "switch on and then connect players..." I am unable to switch the player on!! :s:s:s

    At first, Vision is a massive area of technology. You cant learn the deep at quickly. If you want to solve your vision solution without much knowledge, i recommend you to try VISION BUILDER for AUTOMATED INSPECTION tool. You can find the tutorial for the same by searching in google.

    I want to be able to watch bt vision upstairs in my bedroom with the box being downstairs. Do I need a splitter or another box or some other connection

    There are lots of options, sadly they're all a bit of a pain!
    If you have a sliver vbox then you can simply use a coax cable from the RF/out up to the TV in your bedroom.
    Otherwise you can get an RF modulator to convert the SCART output and again use a coax cable.
    For better quality you could try an HDMI splitter, or even just use SCART downstairs and a long HDMI cable to your bedroom.
    Or you could get a Video Sender, which doesn't involve wires everywhere but can cause/be effected by interfernce.
    None of the above options give you remote control of the vbox, so either you dash up and down stairs or you invest in an IR remote sender (best ask on here if you intend to do this as some work and some don't apparently).
    I used to use a Slingbox, it was very easy and convenient and gave full remote control and access from anywhere you have internet access. But I didn't have the HD model and since getting a better TV I've given up with the slingbox as it doesn't co-exist with the vbox when it's outputting the HD resolutions.

    Are you using the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection? If you are, then you can create LabVIEW code. In the configuration interface go to Tools>>Migrate Inspection to LabVIEW. To do this you will need to have the Vision Development module installed.
    Or are you using the Vision Builder? Depending on the version of the vision builder you are using you can also generate LabVIEW code.
    If you want your code to run in LabVIEW I would suggest that you create your code with the Vision Assistant (this has replaced the Vision Builder, and ships with the Vision Development Module). The Vision Builder for Automated Inspection is intended to be a standalone application.

  • How to resize pixels in Vision.

    I use the Vision Tools for Ultrasound-Imaging. I have the data in a 2D-Array (220x2502). In x-direction one pixel equals 128 us and in y-direction 1 pixel equals 6.15 us. If I display this picture, I get a very long one, because I don't know, how to tell IMAQ Vision that one pixel in y-direction has to be smaller. Can somebody tell me, how to do this? Thanks in advance.

    You can't display an image without using square pixels. If you want to make this image contain square pixels, you are going to have to resample the image.
    A quick method is to use IMAQ Extract to reduce the y resolution by an integer factor. A factor of 21 would give you roughly square pixels.
    Another possibility is duplicating the x pixels using IMAQ Expand, once again using the factor of 21.
    A third possibility would be a combination of the two. Try Extracting with a y factor of 7, then Expanding with an x factor of 3.
    You could also use IMAQ Resample to do all this in a single step, and it can handle non-integer factors. Just figure out what the size (resolution) of the final image should be, and it will interpolate to give you what you want.

    Hi Nando88,
     National Instruments only supports Basler and Axis IP Cameras as part of NI-IMAQdx. There is an IP Camera Adapter which emulates the functionality of a USB webcam. I assume this is the IP Camera Adapter you are referring to in your post. This adpater is not oficially supported by National Instruments and does not work very well for all IP Cameras. This adpater will help you stream video from your camera directly to LabVIEW, like in this example. If you want to acquire separte images you will need to use property nodes to take a screen capture, save that to an image file and then open that file as an IMAQ image. You have to go through all these steps because that IP camera is not supported by the NI-IMAQdx driver.
