How have BT selected which exchanged to upgrade an...

I live in York and I expected that my exchange would be getting the upgraded. I live in a highly  populated area that you could describe as “reasonably well off”. There is also a busy and shopping centre and business park near by.
In terms of take up, BT couldn’t ask a better selection of customers.
But apparently BT Infinity isn’t coming to our exchange????
I punched in a few phone numbers of friends I know from a round the city, and Googled a few random numbers from areas I don’t have phoner numbers for.
For reasons I cannot fathom the exchanges that are to be upgrade service remote and lightly populated areas. Also areas of the city that are reputed for being "poorer". Of course I understand that you cannot tar everyone with the same brush, but one thing I can say for sure is that who ever has decided which exchanges are going to get the best take up for the City of York is living in a dream world.

If competitiveness of service was the issue, surely it would make less sense to go into a pre existing Virgin Media area.
If you think about it, anyone that is interested in Fibre Op is likely to have gone with Virgin Media already as that has been around for about 12 months plus.
Surely a better target audience are the people that are crying out for it. The people in highly populated areas but currently without upgraded exchanges, hence, the rest of York.
I could understand if I lived in a remote village where the cost of upgrading the exchange would never be recouped by the take up of service, but York is a massvie, highly populated city that is considered and rated as highly affluent. Therefore any exchange is likely to get massive take up, so why are they not doing it?

  • How do I Select which email account to view?

    I have two email accounts set up on my iPad how do I select which to view? If I just touch the mail icon it goes straight to the exchange account each time and does not let me choose the other account that is set up

    To view a different account in the Mail app tap the email account name at the top left of the Inbox, then tap Mailboxes at the top of the folder selection window, and you should then be able to select a different email account and navigate down into it's folders

    How do I choose which movies to load into my ipad from my itunes library? Seems like everytime I sync, it loads up all the movies I have in my itunes library.

    When connected to your computer's iTunes, select the iPad 'device' on the left-hand side of iTunes, and then on the right-hand side on its films/movies tab just select the films that you want to sync and then click the Sync button at the bottom.

    If the laptop is operating correctly, it should automatically switch to pick up the stronger signal from the closer AirPort.
    Try turning off the wireless on the laptop, then turning it back on to see if it will pick up the stronger signal from the closer device.  You will likely find that you will need to do this with iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad as well.
    Unfortunately, there is no way to designate which device connects to which.

  • How can you select which pictures to upload from camera? plus facebook ?

    Is there any way to select which pictures from your digital camera you would like to upload on to iphoto? Or is the only way to upload all of the pictures on your camera? I have 214 pictures on my camera and 210 of them are already in iphoto...i only want to upload the new 4!
    Another question..
    I am trying to upload my pictures on to Facebook, and they are significantly smaller than the pictures I uploaded via my PC. How can I get them to upload at normal size?
    THANKS!

    Re: the FaceBook problem
    This sounds like you're uploading the Thumbnails that iPhoto uses to display the pics in the iPhoto Window not the pics themselves. Have you been uploading from the Data folder in the iPhoto Library Folder?
    There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Q10 - How di I select which email accounts are visible in the "Hub"

    As I am slowly getting used to the new "features" of Q10 (I still think of most of them as bugs) and figuring out how to work around them, I am stuck on the Hub.
    It seems to me that one good way to manage this constant issue of what is shown/saved/screened, etc would be to set up multiple email accounts (still dont understand why a mailing address dictates how the messages are handled, but that is another topic)
    The problem i am faced with is that I cannot figure out how to change the settings of the hub to select which email addresses are shown in the hub, and which ones I need to go to separately (ir no be shown in the Hub)
    Effectively, what i have done is set up many email address such as [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc and i only want to see abc1 and abc3 in the hub...  you get the idea.
    thank you for your help in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    It is possible to define which accounts show up in the hub.
    Go into the Hub and press on the 3 dots in the lower right corner. Then press Settings. Then choose Hub Management. Toggle the accounts you want to make visible/invisible.

  • How do I select which bluetooth speakers to play out of? My iPod connects to both kitchen and living room speakers. My old iPod had a selection icon on the now playing screen, but my new one doesn't.

    Hi,
    Our setup
    A new iPod Touch 5 with iOS 8.3.
    Living room speakers that use a Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter.
    Kitchen speakers that use an AmazonBasics Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver.
    The iPod connects to both but always wants to play to the kitchen. To play in the living room, we have to unplug the power to the kitchen speakers. Bluetooth settings screen doesn't let you select between Bluetooth connections. All I seem to be able to do is forget the connection.
    We also have an old iPod Touch (not sure of the generation, but it has iOS 6.1.6). On that one, there is a little icon on the now playing screen that would open a little pull-down menu to let you select which Bluetooth connection to use for playing audio.
    I don't see the "select output" icon on the new now playing screen
    Jimmy
    PS the iPod seems very aggressive in connecting. I hear the living room speakers activate when my wife gets out of the car in the driveway. Then as she comes into the living room, the sound switches to the kitchen.

    Thanks, this was the clue I needed to figure it out.
    From Settings you can pull up Control Center.
    In Control Center you can enable "Access from within Apps" (also "Access from Lockscreen")
    Now when I'm playing music, I can swipe up from the bottom and a little control center window slides up. Neat - this is new since my old iPod. On this window, the name of the current Bluetooth connection appears. Tap on that, and a list of connected Bluetooth items appears. I just tap on the one I want to connect to and I am now playing through the speakers I want.

  • How can I select which iPhone my mac will select to place cellular calls?

    Hi,
    I have two iPhones connected to my Apple ID with lines from two countries as I travel often. When I receive calls on any of those, I can pick up the call from my mac. But when I want to make a call from the address book on the mac for example, then the call goes through the line that was selected by FaceTime on my Mac. It does not seem to matter which phone is on, on, the other or both, or which physical iPhone I use: what seems to matter is the simcard, i.e. the calls always go through the same number. I would need to be able to select which line I use depending on where I am. I tried signing off FaceTime on both phones and mac to no avail. When I turn them back on, in whichever order, FaceTime always picks the same one (and shows this as the Caller ID that will be displayed in the Mac FaceTime preferences...
    Ideally, I should be able to select the line in the same way I can select which caller ID I want to start conversations in FaceTime or iMessage but thus does not seem to be implemented. yet?

    Have you tried changing the caller id on FaceTime on your Mac to see if it picks the other phone?  Seems to me that what you'll have to do is change the caller id each time you want to make a call from each phone.

  • How can I select which music gets synched to my iPOD.  I am unable to select my device

    I can't figure out how to select my device in order to select which music goes onto my iPod.  There is too much music in Itunes for it all to fit.

    In the new iTunes your iPod should be displayed in the top right corner by the iTunes Store. Click on it and select what music you want from the Music page and sync.
    if you prefer the old look
    Ctrl B to turn on the top menu
    View > Show Sidebar
    View Show Status Bar
    Your iPod now appears in the left hand panel

  • How do I select which OS to boot up with on a Mac Mini server?

    Ho would I select which O/S to boot up with?

    If it has more than one OS installed you use either System Preferences>Startup Disk, or hold the Option/alt key at bootup to select which one.

  • How can I select which channel the wireless card on the Macbook Pro uses?

    Hi,
    I have a MacBook Pro which must be 5-6 years old running OS ver10.5.8 with the following wireless card details..
      Wireless Card Type:          AirPort Extreme  (0x168C, 0x86)
      Wireless Card Locale:          Worldwide
      Wireless Card Firmware Version:          1.4.16.2
      Current Wireless Network:          ML MC
      Wireless Channel:          6
    .. and a Time Capsule running firmware ver 7.6.1.
    We recently installed a faster broadband connection and for some reason the pc’s (recent purchases) we have are regularly getting a 37Gb max download speed and the MacBook Pro is regularly getting only 19Gb max download speed.  All the computers are connecting through the same Time Capsule to the net.  On the Time Capsule the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidths are set so the channel is selected automatically.
    Is the max download speed on the MacBook pro slower because of the wireless card in it?  And if so, how can I check?  Could I manually adjust it to a faster setting?
    Thanks,
    Simon

    Channels are managed by the router and the automatic settings on your TC is about right - unless you have general WiFi issues.
    Your slower speed is down to the older Airport card in your MBP.

  • How can I select which page to display based upon a log-in?

    I have created a page where the user will enter one of several codes.  I wanted to use the login function and validate the code against a table that I have pre-loaded with these codes.  The code entered would control which page was displayed to the user.
    (I have identified a community of potential clients, and this group is broken down into 10 unique sub-groups.  Each person receives a mail that includes one of 10 unique 'codes', which identify the sub-group.  When the recipient calls up my website and enters the code (as a user ID), this will determine which of the 10 pages is displayed.  If someone randomly enters (or mis-keys) a value into the promo field a default error page (page #11) would display.)
    Is this possible using the log-in function.  Now that I'm looking at the function, it appears that any successful log-in will be directed to the same page.  If I can't use the log-in function, how can I accomplish this.  In essence, I am looking for the successful codes to act as an "if . . .then . . .else . . " type of logic.  Or, a successful hit on one of records in my table is akin to making a menu selection (that is not available in any other fashion).
    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    BTW - kudos to David Powers and Charles Nadeau for the great tutorial on Setting up a PHP development environment for Dreamweaver!

    Thanks so much for the reply. I chose to go with the array and added the following code (my code is in red) :
       if (isset($_SESSION['PrevUrl']) && false) {
          $MM_redirectLoginSuccess = $_SESSION['PrevUrl'];
    $redirects = array('snj830' => 'promosnj830.php', 'snj141' => 'promosnj141.php', ‘snj416’ => ‘promosnj416’);
        header("Location: " . $redirects[$_SESSION[‘MM_Username]] );
      else {
        header("Location: ". $MM_redirectLoginFailed );
    The re-direct on a failed logon is working successfully, but if I enter one of my 3 valid codes, the following screen is displayed:
    Index of /boundsauctions.com/promopages
    Name Last modified Size Description
         Parent Directory             -

    As you can see, the last three pages here are the ones that I am trying to display.  Can you tell what I'm doing wrong?

  • How do I select which pdf reader to open on line docs

    I have both Foxit Reader and an old version of Acrobat Pro 6. I am setup to have Foxit open all pdf files. However when there is a pdf that is in the browser Acrobat 6 is automatically selected to open the doc by FireFox and I get the message to update the application. I do not want to update because it very rarely use it. I only use it to edit older pdf files on occasion.
    How can I force FireFox to use Foxit Reader to open the online pdf's.
    Currently when this happens I have to open a Chrome browser to view the on line doc and this is a big pain in the butt.
