How high can i push my FSB w/ a RAID 0...

i have 2 80gb seagate barracudas setup in a RAID 0, i was overclocking one fine day, when after some tweaking in the bios ( upping the fsb ) my windows failed to load.. i had a corrupt registry and soon no bootable harddrives... ;(
i now have my baby running at a nice fsb of 173.5 and a multiplier of 11.5 for a grand total of 1.995mhz...
i keep reading that the barton 2500+ is capable of way more than this and im wondering how high can i push my FSB before having to do a reinstall of windows ...again...
system specs...
kt400 - 6590
barton 2500+  currently @  11.5 * 173.5
2 * 256 corsair 3200 LOW LATENCY
2 * 80gb seagates in RAID 0
windows xp pro sp1
need any info i forgot..?? let me know..

ahhhh, knew i left something out....
my ps is an antec truepower 430....
and unfortunely my videocard is a sapphire 8500..what a mistake...
is this enough power to overclock...?? alot..?? my system seems to run stable now at about 33C idle and under a full load of gaming about 36C ... it has a slk800 w/ a tornado sitting on top...
i did manage to kill one of these power supplies already but that was due to a short in a p.o.s cold cathode light... its been rma'd back since though....
and the voltage on the cpu right now is as factory 1.66 according to fuzzy logic 4... but none the less it is set to auto in the bios....
thx for the help

Have an IMac 7.1, desktop system 10.4.11, 2.8 GHz, 4MB, 4GB.  what can I upgrade to?  What do I need to buy and how high can I go?

You can replace one of the 2 GB RAM sticks with a 4 GB stick for a total max. RAM of 6 GBs.
    Here are the specs.
    Maximum Memory
6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
Purchase reliable Mac RAM from online vendors Crucial or OWC (Other World Computing).
The highest OS X version you can go is OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
First, though, you need to purchase a retail disc version of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard in order to download upgrade to OS X 10.8.
Purchase OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Use Software update, in OS X Preferences Pane to update to the latest version of OS X 10,6 Snow Leopard before upgrading OS to 10.8 Mountain Lion.
OS X 10,6.8 will install the Mac App Store icon in OS X's Application Dock.
From there, you can launch the Mac App Store and download and install OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
Use Sofware Update again to update to the latest version of Mountain Lion.
Be advised, you may want to play around in OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard before updating to OS X 10.8 Mt. Lion.
Some users aren't happy with the Hybrid OS X/iOS functionality of OS X 10.8 Mounatin Lion.
If you upgrade to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and aren't happy with it, the only way to return to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is wipe the internal drive, reformat it, then reinstall OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
You might want to consider purchasing an external FireWire hard drive, format it so you can install OS X 10,6 Snow Leopard and all of its updates onto the internal drive, use a copying/cloning app like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper to make a duplicate of your internal drive to the external FireWire drive as a backup that you can reinstall onto your internal drive just in case you find you are not happy with the look and functionality of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
    Good Luck!

  • HT1443 pay for the 10.6 or how high can i go in an upgraded version?

My MacBook is about 4 years old now- Mac OS X 10.5.8. I want to install Google Drive but it requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher. Do i pay for a 10.6 version or do i buy a higher version and how high can i go?

You pay for Mac OS X 10.6 unless you're a paid MobileMe member, in which case Apple will ship it to you for free. A Core Solo or Core Duo Mac can go to 10.6.8, while a Core 2 Duo or better can go to Mac OS X 10.7.4.

  • I have an imac 4.1 with 2g of ram and is currently running 10.5.8 operating system, How high can I upgrade the operating system?

I have a 2006 intel imac 4.1 with 2g of ram. I am currently running 10.5.8 and wish to upgrade the operating system. How high can I go as I would like to link it up with my newer imac, iphone and ipad...please advise and 10.5.8 is not cutting it.

You can run up to 10.6.8 on that particular model. That OS version is still available:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
10.6.8 will run on 2GB RAM, the max for that model.

  • How high can a iPod touch 3G be upgrade in the iOS

How high can the iPod touch 3G get upgrade in the ios

5.1.1. If it's an 8GB model, it's probably a second generation, not a third, and can't be updated past 4.2.1; if it happens to be a fourth generation model, 6.0.1.

  • Pluggo 3.6.1 compatibility; how high can i go?

i' ve stuck with os X 10.7 (Lion) because Cycling74's (discontinued, outside of Live) Pluggo 3.6 works fine on that platform; if there are any others still using this wonderful and sometimes frustrating weirdness, could you let me know how up to date i can bring my MBPro?  it's vintage means i'm not falling over myself to go to the very latest, but if 10.8 or 10.9 (er, mountain lion and, well, is that mavericks?) are allowing pluggo to work OK, then i might at least drag myself into this decade…  replies appreciated!

Since cycling74 and Max are not compatible in anything higher you must stick to Lion.
Find an alternative or stop using this software.

  • Overlocking NB on 870s-g54 board. How high can I go?

    Specs
    Motherboard MSI 870s-g54
CPU Phenom 1100t black edition stock cooling
    Memory G.Skills F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH
    Video Card ATI 4870x2
    PSU Thermaltake 700 watt
hi guys, I've been attempting to overclock my CPU and memory to get the most out of them and I thought I'd share my efforts with you guys because I have some questions regarding limitations due to my board (would hate to fry the VRM).
My big question revolves around overclocking the NB as it defaults to 1600Mhz which gives me horrible memory bandwidth.  If you follow the following thread
    http://www.overclock.net/t/1168114/problems-getting-g-skill-7-8-7-24-working-correctly
you'll see I've managed to get the NB up to 2400 without problems and have significantly improved memory latency as a result. I'd love to push it to 3000Mhz but I'm worried about it's effect on the board?  Does anyone here know if the board I have can support speeds that high? I've been told the 1100t's memory controller is more than capable of handling it.
thanks for any information you guys can provide.
    Cheers,

what to do with the connectors? use them if you need them You are probably looking at only using the normal DVI ports (the ones on the card itself). The cables that you attach to those DVI ports are probably converters for DisplayPort and HDMI. The function of the extra cables should be described in the user manual, quickstart guide or whatever.

  • How hard can i push my MacBook Pro Retina?

So I like to game on my macbook, but at the same time I'm afraid it won't last very long if I continue with it. If I have best resolution, maximum framerate (fps) etc will this hurt my mac or slow it down?
I'm rocking a mid 2014 macbook pro retina 13 inc, with intel core i5, 2.6 ghz and 8 gigs of ram. Latest version of osx (yosemite). And I have intel iris 1536MB graphics card.
So if I push my Mac too hard will it "survive" or whatever? I thought these computers were meant for this stuff, but I don't know, that's why i'm asking.
Will battery life also drain after a while?
I have tried best graphics and it handles it very well, but I have no idea if it's a smart thing to do. Will it destroy my mac?
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Magnus

Macs are specifically designed for maximum performance, and are impossible to damage through normal use as long as you observe its published environmental specifications. That includes gaming or whatever else you need it to do. If it should reach a thermal limit that cannot be altered, it will throttle its performance to remain within its operational specifications. If that fails to keep it cool, it will simply shut down to protect itself.
Avoid any clever third party hacks such as those intended to manipulate the exhaust fan speed. Doing that will only draw in more environmental contaminants than would normally occur, and could conceivably render its warranty void.
No battery works as well as a brand new one. They are all wear items that will require eventual replacement. Usually, by that time your Mac will be so old you'll want to replace it anyway.
It's obviously an unscientific observation, but I find that the less people obsess about their Macs, the longer they tend to last. Expect your Mac to serve you well until 2020, at least. By that time who knows what we'll be doing with them.

  • How far can you push java mathematically

Can you do calculous in java. Like differentiation etc.

If you ask some folks in this forum they will tell
you that GUI-builders are terrible, if you ask others
their opinion, they will tell you they love them, and
in the mean time this thread will degenerate into a
debate on the relative merits.I think the debate has nothing to do with the merits of GUI builders and everything to do with whether or not he can do mathematics WITHOUT a sophisticated UI. I think he'll have his hands full solving the calculus problems he has in mind without adding to his troubles by worrying about a UI.
Do it with plain text at first. Once you have that working, then worry about the UI. It'll be a good way to separate UI from the rest of the problem - a good practice.

  • With a Zalman 7000Acu cooler, how high vcore is too high???

I'd like to overclock a little with my Neo2, but since I don't have an accurate temp reading in my bios, it will be tricky.
I have an fx-53 w/zalman cooler and how high can I raise the vcore while still playing it safe...
I was thinking i'll raise it to 1.6v and get the best I can out of that.

Yep I can confirm 1.8v makes a funny smell

  • How do I find what my FSB clock speed is?

No it does not. The 865P is 400/533 FSB. The 865PE and 865G support 800 FSB.

     Hi,
One of my ex-colleagues has installed a NI-DAQ 6.5 in our system. [And I do not see any other naitional instruments card in the CPU of the computer, may be he removed it] I deleted the account and all his files in the system. When I am trying to install version8.0, its not getting installed and giving me a message that I should uninstall the previous version by going to Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
I tried doing that, but the "Change/Remove" button does not seem to work...[There is no response and so unable to install the new version...]
Any idea how can this problem be solved?
It is a windowsXP operating system with SP2 installed on a machine with P4 processor.
    Thanks

The laptop's too far away from the router to be connected by ethernet. It's all wifi.
No separate server app on the laptop, it's all samba
The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.

  • I purchased an iMac 24" with os 10.5.8(iMac model 6.1).  How high up the OS chain can I go with this model?

I am trying to find out how high up the OS X chain I can take this unit.  I have not been able to find anything solid online.  I know I can't go as high as Mountain Lion(this unit is a late 2006 model 6.1, with core2duo processor).  Thanks for any help.

First you need to research all the problems people are having with it higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It's been pulled from the online store, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.
