How Hot is Too Hot for the Wireless Module

I have noticed my Wireless Module is running from 127 deg F to 131 deg F and wonder what is
too hot? At what temp should I become concerned?

131 F is not very hot, you know.
If I knew that I would not have posted the question. I have heard the iMac will
shut down if it gets too hot; however, I have no idea what is too hot.
When I ran the migration assistant to transfer files for the G4 to this iMac, one
of the hard drives got too hot and the migration assistant gave me a waring that the
transfer was stopped waiting for a drive to cool down. After a few minutes, it
started up again. That was very scary!

  • How long is too long for the IPod to download from ITunes??

I just swapped my busted IPod for a new one and the installation process seemed to be going fine. I've updated the new IPod, but now I've plugged it in to download my ITunes and it's still blinking Do Not Disconnect after 12 hours!! Isn't this too long? I mean, I have about 2500 songs, so I expected it to take a while, but this seems a bit extreme...what do I do?

You have a connection problem with the iPod. You might need to re-install iTunes.

  • How Hot Is Too Hot For Late 2008 Macbook Unibody?

I'm still in the process of adjusting to life in the world of Macs and I was wondering just how hot is too hot for the CPU to be running at with the Unibody 13 inch Macbook?

The sensors are set to put the computer in thermal shutdown at 212F to prevent catastrophic damage.

  • How Hot is Too Hot 20" iMac (Mid 07)

I have a new 20" iMac 2.4 GHz that came with the Apple installed 1 GB of RAM. I realize it is normal for the top edge to be warm. I wanted to know how warm so I installed the Temperature Monitor v4.2 and it currently reads 123.8 F. Is this normal or hot? How hot is too hot and what will happen if I install another memory module?
Is there a better utility or something from Apple to track temperature?

Ps: How do I add an icon showing one of the new iMac?

+How hot is too hot and what will happen if I install another memory module?+
185 F is too hot, but unless you've got your iMac sitting in direct sunlight or are operating it at the extreme upper end of the ambient temperature operating range at 95 F, it would be highly unlikely to reach that temperature since the fans do an excellent job of cooling.
The whole point of Apple's switching to Intel processors was to provide the same power as the Power PC processors, but at much lower temperatures due to consumers not using air conditioning to such a wide extent as do businesses.
Installing another memory module will not make much impact on most internal temperatures, except it will probably tend to lower the hard drive temperature since with more memory there won't be as much swapping of data back and forth between memory and hard drive.
Computers have always worked faster in a cooler environment rather than in a hotter environment, so if your environment is hot and you want to give your Mac some help, turn on the air.
As to the topic, it is not marked as solved, but is marked as answered.

  • Hdx 18t GPU: How hot is too hot?

    Hello,
I have a HDX 18t i bought off a friend.  I noticed that while playing games (WoW, starcraft 2), the GPU gets pretty hot... i have maxed out at 79 degrees C which is crazy hot.  I have heard however, that laptop GPUs tend to run hotter, wanted to get an idea of what is considered really hot.  I called HP support, and they said they can run up to 90 degrees C without issue, so this is ok.  Can a gpu run this hot and still be ok? My desktop GPU rarely runs above 60 degrees C.
Note that the laptop doesnt restart while playing (yet) but i rarely play continously for an hour.  Also, I have one of those zalaman NC2000 laptop coolers, but doesnt really seem to help the hot GPU issue.

  • Am I being a spaz? How hot is too hot?

I was doing some google searches, and I've just come up with statistics, not whether or not the temperatures were too hot, or if it was normal.
From what I've read, the iMac can idle safely at ~50C, [122F], and when gaming, it can go into the upper 80C's [176F].
I've been using smcFanControl with like, 5 different settings, and my normal response would be, turn up the fans if it gets
above 110F [43C]  and if it gets to 120F [49C] or above, I switch the fans to max until it lowers to around 100F [37C].
It may just be me, but am I being overly cautious about temperatures? I'd rather the fans need to be replaced than the hardware,
and also, I've read that it will definitely just shut itself off if it gets "too hot", but about how hot is 'too hot', and will this work
    if I'm booted in Windows?
Just for reference, the ambient air should be somewhere in between 70-80F [20-27C].
    Mid 2010 iMac, 21.5"
    3.2GHz Intel i3
    4GB RAM
    ATI Radeon 5670 [512MB]

Hmm. Alright, I may end up uninstalling it and resetting the SMC/PRAM later, and just use it normally. I usually don't mind the fans being a bit noisier, if it'll keep the system cool, since I have an external tower speaker I use, which I love when gaming...

  • Hard Drive: How hot is too hot?

Purchased a Newertech VoyagerQ dock for backups along with a 1TB WD Caviar Black Hard Drive --
I noticed the Hard Drive to be hot, almost too hot to touch, is this normal?

These types of sata disks docks are not really supposed to be used for extended use of the drive; they are mostly used for maintenance, short term type uses, etc.
It doesn't shield the drive from static electricity or protect it physically (spills, etc.), which can pose as a problem in the future. I would advise you to grab an enclosure if you want to use it for extended periods of time.
To answer your question, drives even in the mac pro slots with air cooling are quite warm if you turn off the comp, and immediately try and touch the drive. However if it's TOO hot to touch, then yes, that may be too hot.

  • How can I put my recently purchased iTunes movies on to my thumb drive and WD My Passport external hard drive. My Mac keeps saying "can't be copy because it is too large for the volumes format

How can I put my recently purchased iTunes movies onto my thumb drive and WD my passport external hard drive. My Mac is saying that can't be copied because it is too large for volumes format

[file] is too large for the volumes format
That is usually an indication that the Volume was never Erased or Partitioned for GUID partition table and Mac OS, and is still in a Windows format.
Mac OS X Extended (journaled) has no such file-size limitations

My tab default is1.25 which is too big for the A5 document I'm working on, how do I change the default tab so that I don't have to reset each individual line?

    Hi Hannah,
Inspector > Text > Tabs Button > Tab Settings > Default Tabs.
To set a tab stop on the go, click in the ruler.
If you can't see the ruler, Menu > View > Show Rulers.
To set tab stops for lines (paragraphs) you have already typed, select those paragraphs and set them all at once.
Also, have a look at Menu > Pages > Preferences > Rulers.

    Ian.

  • I dropped my mac pro. The disc drive plays but will not record. medium drive error. How hard is it to replace the drive my self. i see screws on the bottom. Could I just order a new internal drive and replace it? Or is it too complicated for the average ?

I dropped my mac pro. The disc drive plays but will not record. medium drive error. How hard is it to replace the drive my self. i see screws on the bottom. Could I just order a new internal drive and replace it? Or is it too complicated for the average person? Would be cheaper to buy an external drive than to replace internal one? Any advice is appreciated

How certain are you the superdrive ONLY is at fault?
That depends on your skill level, if you grew up tearing things apart and putting them together, its absurd how easy it is.
For some however its too daunting.   On a general skill level for the "average" person its about a 3 out of 10 in difficulty.
    Can you order same? yes.

  • Since installing update on 6/25, printing pdf pages OK, but bank account activity type is too large for the page. How do I shrink the type?

Since installing Firefox v.3.6. 6 update on 6/25, printing bank statements in pdf format is still OK, but when I select the print option for my bank account activity the type is too large for the page. How do I shrink the type? We are running Windows XP.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I installed Firefox update on 6/25

Firefox doesn't display PDF files all by itself, it uses your PDF reader program which is also what handles the printing of that file type.
As far as the large printed font from Firefox, open File > Page Setup and see what the '''Scale''' is set to. 100% is usually the best setting, but you might need to use a smaller setting.

  • Since upgrading to 10.7.4 my 21.5 inch imac the window is too large for the display. How can I make it fit?

since upgrading to 10.7.4 my 21.5 inch imac the window is too large for the display. How can I make it fit?

    Some possibilities:
If you have a Magic Mouse do Control+stroke downwards on the mouse.
Check System Preferences>Displays is set to the correct resolution
Check System references>Accesability and make sure Zoom isn't turned on.

  • All of a sudden the screen on my iMac 10,1 is too small for the image. Can't figure out how to reduce the size of the Finder or any of the Apps.

All of a sudden the screen is too small for the image. Hard to explain, but in order to see the entire Finder window, I must scroll the image up/down, left/right.
It's not just the Finder though, all of the apps are affected this way too.
It's probably got something to do with the fact that I have an HDMI cable running from the Mac to a Vizio 42" TV. It's been running this way just fine for over two months though.
    Any ideas?

You probably accidently zoomed the screen.  Hold down CNTL while scrolling down with the mouse or trackpad to unzoom.  Cntl - scroll up to zoom.

  • If my ipad was stolen, how to register my ipad for the stolen goods, and lock the hardware requirements?

If my ipad was stolen, how to register my ipad for the stolen goods, and lock the hardware requirements?

It's really disappointing as a newly converted Apple customer who has already had his iPad stolen, that Apple just sits back and let's this happen.
I've viewed a number of posts regarding stolen iPads.  Yes, I did have the "find my iPad" enabled.  That's how I knew when the iPad was gone for good.  It's a useless function in the case of theft because the thieves know how to hack into your iPad.  It disappeared from my list of devices in the "find my iPad" utility that very same day.
Apple loves the fact that their devices get stolen all the time!  That way they sell more of them.  Theft could easily be significantly reduced if Apple chose to give users a means to report stolen devices on the Apple site.  They choose not to do this.  If the black market for Apple devices was limited to hackers who know they have a stolen device, the items wouldn't be such a hot commodity!  Apple knows this... I guess they want to get their devices into as many households as they can.... Legally or not.
So for all you hard working folks out there, find a way to make sure your Apple products are secure because if they get stolen, you're out of luck.  Apple refuses to help when they could easily do so.
