How I got my firewire iPod to sync!

When I upgraded to the latest iTunes software my 2nd generation (or 3rd?) Firewire iPod would not be recognized. After a long wait I'd get a message that I needed to "restore" the iPod. After grinding for about 10 minutes I'd get an error message. I tried everything. I even went to the local Apple store and talked to a Genius. He tried everything and said he could give 10% off on a new iPod. But, the thing still worked ... except it wouldn't be recognized by iTunes. Finally, in desperation, I connected a dock connector with USB on it instead of Firewire. I plugged it in and my old iPod was recognized instantly and synced.
I hope this saves some of you the same frustration.

  • How can I get my iPod to sync with my Mac (running OS X 10.5.8) if I don't want to upgrade my Mac to OS X 10.6.8?

I just tried to sync my iPod and got the message that I have to update iTunes, but my Mac is running OS X 10.5.8. I wouldn't have updated the OS on my iPod if I had known this would be a problem. Any suggestions on how I can get my devices to sync again without updating my Mac OS?

  • How to i get my ipod to sync to original computer, someone plugged it in to a different computer and now it wont sync anything to the original

Having trouble getting ipod to sync with original computer,it was plugged in to laptop and sync to it but all my music and things are on desktop, and now it wants to sync with only laptop. How do i get to sync back with desktop?

If everything (music and apps) are on the desktop, just connect the iPod to the desktop and :
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod if you want to set up the iPod as a new one.
    - If you want to retain the apps daa and setting currently on the iPod, right click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore the iPOd from that backup
    - You can also restore the iPod from a previous backup you have onthe Desktop if you want.

  • How to retrieve music from ipod without syncing it

So my computer was messed up and I'm missing a bunch of music so i was needing to get the music files back. I have them on my ipod but i cant view them in itunes unless i sync the ipod which would erase the songs not on the computer and defeat the purpose of what i'm trying to do. I have the 'manually manage music' option checked and when i open up my ipod file from my computer it doesn't have the music files only pictures and stuff. I know it's possible to get the music without erasing it but i forget how and its really annoying, so how would i do so?

Here is the way about how to recover music from iPod
Assuming you're using a Windows 7 or 8 computer here.
Go to the start menu > type in hidd > open 'Show Hidden Files and Folders' > check the circle in that says Show hidden files, folders, and drives. > Click apply.
Now plug your iPod in. Go to Computer > click on eg. 'Azrielrain's ipo (H:)' or whatever shows up that looks like that > iPod_Control > Music > The files underneath that.
Now in those files will be mp3 or mp3 variants of your music, they will NOT however have the original names given to them. You can copy the files to your desktop, or music folder. That is pretty much the closest you'll get to being able to salvage your music from your iPod. Or you can use Data Recovery to help you recover your iPod music.

  • Here is how I got Outlook and Q10 to sync

This isn't overly technical so work with me. The problem is images. If you have images (pictures) associated with contacts it will fail. In my case here is how I got it to work and I had 925 contacts.
    1) in Oultook delete all images associated with each contact you might have
    2) I then did exactly the same thing in by Berry contacts where I had associated images with friends or contacts.
    3) deleted Faceboook and LinkedIn and Twitter apps.. . all of these apps try to link to your contacts and will import pictures which will kill the sync
    4) deleted ALL my contacts from my Berry and reimported them. one way sync from Outlook.
    5) scrolled through my entire contact list and where ever some picture had magically re-appeared, opened the contact, hit the 3 little dots and clicked on links and unlinked what ever the app was that was bringing in the picture. BBM llinks can exist and they don't mess you up withtheir pictures and they won't sync to Outlook anyway
also under settings I deleted all accounts except for my core account asscoiated with my contacts. This is the one that was my email account.. You can keep your BBM contacts.
Its a little harsh but I use my Berry for work so be deleting all the fluff such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter I was able to get it to sync and actually sync within a minute. If you need Facebook to survive then I guess you will have to get an iPhone.
I am sure there is a way that is more sophisticated than the above that allows you access to Facebook but after 5 months of whining and cursing that my contacts and calendar were a mess I decided to actually pay to talk to Blackberry and have one of their people help me fix it
    Good Luck

The full res images made on the 1020 can only be taken off the phone through a USB connection with a PC. The OS itself is only aware of the 5MPx image.

  • How can i stop my ipod from syncing automatically?

I don't want my ipod to sync automatically when i connect it to the computer, i wanna sync it manually
What does syncing even mean? like it just backs up the files yeah?
'Cause i find it annoying that when like, maybe i add some new songs to itunes, maybe i don't want them on my ipod, which is why i don't want it to sync automatically, how do i change this?

Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods....syncing". Then, with the iPod connected to the computer you can chack the appropirate boxes in the Muisic pane for the iPod and check which songs you want on the iPod and Connie 9 suggested.

  • Playlist got lost from iPod and syncing isn't bringing it back

I had a playlist I love on my iPod Touch and somehow it got deleted from the iPod. I've already tried syncing and it didn't come back. I've also tried shutting down iTunes and restarting, then resyncing and it didn't come back. I've also tried a full factory restore of my iPod and then resyncing and all of my playlists came back except for that one playlist. I can't figure out why I can't get that one playlist back, and it's a playlist I use for falling asleep so I need it! Can anyone help?
